  1. You're both very lucky in that respect. With having small knee width means buying boots with large calf and then at the top they get a bit wide, but not ridiculously obvious. I did wonder if getting boots that laced up would be better, but I'm not a bit fan of laced boots that lace all the way. Ones that laced only at the top would be ideal.

  2. The musings of a heel lover (aka The Thinker with heels). How many people here who have knee boots have problems finding boots for large calf but perhaps with *normal* knee width and as a result find boots that fit both the feet and calf well but appearing somewhat bucket-like around the knee? Popeye need not apply... :santa_hat:

  3. A strap over the instep will also help to keep your toes from sliding forward. I think the best way to avoid it is simply not to wear pointed toe shoes all the time.

Ah, yes, I remember seeing another thread about instep straps. I think I have seen shoes that have the strap higher and around the ankle which seems more elegant than that of an instep strap. Seems to draw attention to the ankle and somehow accentuate it. I guess those gel pads would also help.

There should be a 7.5mm gap between your toes and the toe of the shoe. This does reduce as the heel increases.

Is this a design rule of thumb? Doesnt seem much given that the toes would need a bit more from the widest point of the shoe before it starts to taper?

I remembered also another observation that I think I will add at this point. That being heels that come with long lace or ribbons that you have to tie from the ankle upwards, criss-crossing around the calf. Anyone have shoes that require this kind of fastening and any disadvantages of all that tying (and restriction!) Seems quite uncormfortable to the point of tourniquet! :santa_hat:

  4. From my experience with speaking to women (mainly) about their heel-wearing, most if not all say that their toes arent usually too affected by wearing pointed toe heels if the fit is right. Their *wisdom* says that the toes (and balls of foot) sit at the widest part of the shoe and not into the point. Granted that is the case and that there will always be the chance of the toes sliding into the point anyway through normal wear. Does that then make the case of how long the shoe should be as it tapers between the pointed part and the ball of the boot? Do you have the same experiences or belief of this?

  5. are they known as pedal-pushers?

Indeed they are. I couldnt remember that name for them. I think I have almost seen them around almost every week so it looks like theyre making a come back. They definitely not the baggy ones though, more like the suit-type style - and always worn with heels and without any hosiery. Sounds like a fashion police rule but it works. Cant imagine cropped trousers over tights on women, or at least I've never seen it (yet)?
  6. Yeah, looks like this thread is getting way above the plimsoll line!! (*groan*) Chattanooga (Jimmy) Choo Choo - Glenn Miller I dont want a loafer - Texas Put your redcourts on - Corinne Bailey Rae Achilles Last Stand - Led Zeppelin Heel the world - Michael Jackson (just imagine!) You Wear it Well - Rod Stewart And for the school teachers out there, One Two Buckle My Shoe. (*heckling from the back*) You've been a lovely audience. Goodnight!

  7. I think the vintage element comes from when they were popular in the 1950s. I cant really say a pencil skirt would be more or less sexier than any other style or length, but thats just my take. I can see a relation to perhaps an admiration of sharp suits and power dressing. I would say that the mini is appreciated as it accentuates the wearer's legs, and a pencil would accentuate the figure if it is well tailored and fitted. The same appreciation could be said with a long skirt (say, ballgown) too.

  8. MetalTips is my nick and i visit hhplace. I do love women in heels - for their elegance and grace. I love the sound that heels make, those women are a tease! They make me quiver and quake and weaken at the knees! So i entered this competition to try and win a prize, Winning was my mission for ankles knees or thighs. MySexyShoeStore is where I want to be; For heels leather vinyl, hosiery and lingerie. I'm not tv or cd, no bra, corset or thong. But if you mention heels, you know you wont be wrong! Dont laugh or criticise this, as I hate to be the first. If all else fails and its no good, I'll say its unrehearsed! :santa_hat:

  9. Previously on Embarassing moments...

Embarrassing moment now. Admitting I've just been asked by a friend to help pick... wait for it... :santa_hat: a ruddy DVD recorder. Hows that for an anticlimax?! I'm just going to walk away now with my head held low. :nervous:

I guess if I pass a shoe shop on the way, it may just ease the suffering.

Well, yesterday was a bit of a wet squib. Wondered around a retail park all afternoon trying to find my friend's el-cheapo DVD recorder only to find that no one had any stock left!! :w00t2:

Still, I did spot only one knee weakening moment but I wasnt near any camcorders or digital cameras. Would I?

  10. Ah, Cinnamon! A "glass is always half full" woman. No such luck, but all DVD samples gladly accepted for high definition DVD / TV research purposes only. And as they say on TV, all entries cannot be returned! :santa_hat: Joke! Well, no rest for the wicked. See you all soon! PS We seem to always generate a 5 star rating thread. Must be a good thing I hope!
