  1. I have a couple pairs of the Steve Madden Hijo versions of the original JLO's and really like the design. Those are quite high, but more boots done in that design would be great. Are they available in a womens US 11 or 12?

they are available is US 11, but they are hard to find.

MMC HAS THEM FOR $108.00 STUDS AND ALL MINE ARE ON THE WAY RIGHT NOW

Those are not a ZigiGirl Z-Jo boots. Those are Alba Jennifer boots. The ZigiGirl Z-Jo boots are leather and they are better made.

For people that are on a tight budget, Zigi NY also made the Zigi Solo Jubilee. It is basically the economy version of the ZigiGirl Z-Jo. The Zigi Solo Jubilee is available at 6pm.com for $90.79

For peoplet that like having the front lacing and the side zipper, go with the Alba Jennifer boots.

  2. The shank has to be rigid as the insole and outsole will be bonded to it. If it flexes the sole could start coming apart in the arch. Don't skimp here if you intend to wear the finished product. If finding proper shanks is proving fruitless consider having a machine shop mill them out of solid stock. I'm pretty sure that a blacksmith could help you out in the shank department as well by forging them out of cold rolled steel strip stock.

I hate to destroy a high heel on purpose, but taking one apart will give you a real education on how they are made. After successfully extracting a shank from a high heeled shoe (no easy task) you'll soon see how beefy and rigid they really are. Warning don't do this with a wedge or one that has a rounded outsole through the arch. The wedge will be shankless and the other could be.

I really hope you can do this. I really want you to be successful doing it. I don't however want to see you hurt yourself with a weak design with an extreme heel.

I took a few high heels apart. I was planning on make miniature heels to the size I needed it to be, and built with the same material from the high heels I took apart. The reinforcement in the heels and the shank are harden steel. They are very hard to cut or bend. See attached pictures.

  3. Hi,

I ended up buying 3 pairs of GioHel. I agree with lorenziluvr statement, but I would also like to add a few more things. GioHel do have boots with very thin heels, but it comes in the 5" high heels. The toe box also varies with boots too. The boots with the 6" high heels has a short toe box which is similar to the toe box on the Louboutin Pretty Woman boots. The thigh high boots has the long toe box. I would say the boots with the very thin high heels has a standard length toe box. I hope this helps everyone who has an interest in purchasing a GioHel boots from 1969 Italia Boutique.

  4. UPDATE.... Ian has extended the pre-season sale to July 14th....30% off all styles.

    Check out http://www.jean-gaborit.com

Just thought I'd inform people of this....I placed an order with www.jean-gaborit.com for some custom made boots in July. They sent the wrong boots last month. It was some cheaper non-custom made boot in a much larger size. I notified them and they were going to send the correct boots, but I have not seen them to this day. I have been emailing them, and they are not responding back to my emails. I am sorry to say that I do not recommend doing business with these people.

  6. On eBay it is the highest bidder who wins, not the last bidder. Read up on how eBay's proxy bidding system works at http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/proxy-bidding.html

    Best bidding strategy:

    - Bid once

    - Bid the absolute most you're willing to pay

    - Bid as late as you can

    Why bid late? (sniping)

    - prevents others from nibbling away your high bid

    - prevents bid stalking

    - you don't tie up your money and emotional attachment to the item for 7 days

I purchase a lot of stuff on E=bay, especially Buffy the Vampire cards I need to finish my Buffy sets! I have seen odd bids once and awhile, but it does not happen that often. If I had a problem with a seller I let E-bay know about it, or put them on my #### list!

    8)

Another thing to add to onyourtoes strategy, study the Bidders that you are up against. Look at the Bidders feed back history and you can view the items that they won, which will lead you to their bidding habbit in the bidding history. Sometimes reviewing the Seller's history helps too. You can see the items sold with the winning bid price.

Bidding on Ebay can be like a poker game. Some Bidders push or bump the bids up high during bid wars. Some Bidders bid high in the beginning and scar others off. Some Bidders will simple appear from nowhere and win the auction with a last minute high bid.
