  1. My wife and I were walking around in a shopping centre one morning looking for a new outfit for her. While she was doing what women do best, I was waiting near a pillar in the fairly busy store, out of the way of all the traffic due to some promotion. As I was standing there, looking at the people (as I always do), a flash of light caught my attention. I turned my head and noticed that it came from the shiny metal stiletto heels of a woman who was also interested in the items on promotion. My focus was immediately on her as her stilettos were utterly the draw card that captured my attention towards her. She wore a pair of black leather pumps with a sharp pointy toe and a pencil thin curvy metal heel that flashed each time the spotlights reflected off its shiny surface.

I was entirely enthralled by these sexy shoes and I found myself following her every move. It was at one point where the area where she was standing became quite busy that I noticed something alarming and literally sent a cold shiver down my spine. She had pulled off an article of clothing from the rails and in order to try it on she stepped back to give herself more room. As she stepped back I saw how her sharp stiletto came down just millimetres from another woman’s foot. This woman was wearing flip flops, so her entire foot was totally exposed and almost impaled by the metal spike heel. Since they were both so busy with their shopping, neither of them was aware of how close they came to a frightful accident.

It is this incident that made me wonder how many times this has happened where a misfortunate foot ends up on the wrong side of a stiletto heel? I could certainly imagine it happening on crowded dance floors, or in confined spaces like in trains or buses, etc.

So, in retrospect, the moral of the story would be; never stand behind a woman wearing stilettos!!!, or, if you are wearing stilettos try not to step backwards without being sure that there is no person’s foot or pet behind you that might be impaled by your stiletto! (Unless that is what you intend to do...!! OUCH!!!)

  2. On the spot with that analogy...I have many times analysed the shoe correctly just by the sound it makes even before I see it! When you can do this successfully, then you know you are a heel lover extrodinaire... Cheers all and tx for those comments

  3. There is no sound more riveting and sexy than the acute and distinct clicking sounds of sharp stiletto heels as they echo their presence on a hard stone floor. The sound has a very captivating resonance and the moment it hits your ears it requires you to listen, it demands your full attention and thrusts you into an in-depth analysis of the sound. You lean back in your chair and allow the sharp click clack sounds to echo in your mind, eventually causing you to build a mental picture of the female wearing those stilettos, and what type of shoe it is producing those powerful sounds.

It is interesting to note that different stilettos produce different sounds. For instance, there is a difference in the sound produced between a slide (mule) and a pump. Ever thought of it?

With a slide, which is not fastened to the back of the feet, the clicking sound of the stiletto on the ground is not so sharp or intense. The resonance in many ways is slightly hollow and sometimes you may hear a double sound as the heel hits the floor, lifts and hits the floor again when the foot comes down. Besides these finer details, a dead give-away is the slapping sound that the shoe makes when it hits up against the sole of the wearer’s foot in the motion of walking.

A pump or sandal that is fastened tightly to the wearer’s feet has a much more stable and resolute resonance. Since the shoe is not flopping under the feet, the stiletto heel hits the ground with much more drive and results in a clearer, sharper click that sounds fuller, more stable and more penetrative. Out of all the types of stiletto shoes around, a fully enclosed pump or court shoe provides the most intense sound.

One last note of observation: Does the intense and shrill sound of the metal nails of her stilettos on a hard surface contrast, or nullify the grace, style, elegance and refined air that a lady should radiate? The answer is NO! As a matter of fact, I cannot think of a sound more appropriate to define her gender and announce her presence. In relation to sound, it is the epitome of her femininity!

  4. Hello...anybody else here with a passion for kitten heels? here are some samples of low heeled shoes I have purchased recently. Hope you like.

Iam sorry, but I cannot see any of your pictures??? I'd love to see your pics as I adore kitten heels.

    Tx Steelheel

PS: How do I post a picture I took with my digital camera?

  5. Hi steelheel!

If you'd like to see some of my "artistic" endeavors, check out my photobucket album "in my shoes."

I'd appreciate your (or anyone else's) comments!

    Hi Smitty,

Thanx for your support. I am not too much into block heels and wedges, so to comment on your pics is hard. As for the artistic in the photos...they are great and the poses are really good, however I am not keen on the shoes. I prefer the sharper and more elegant stiletto heels.

PS: I added more detail to my site...so check it out at www.stilettography.com again!

    Cheers
