  1. When you go to your college class you arrive in a more adult environment. Hence wearing heels feels more appropriate because most professional females wear heels of some type while in either a work or educational environment. So all of a sudden, you fit in. Also, the people there don't know you as well as your peers at school. They don't have pre-concieved notions of your persona and are learning you for the first time. You sense this and react accordingly, and in the case of heels, you are more comfortable because they are generally expected in this environment.

My college class has a lot of people dressed in sweats and flip-flops. Whether feminine or masculine, I don't wear pajamas outside the house. I think it's lazy and sometimes disrespectful.

To the people there, I'm probably known for my jubilee of weird clothes - fancy coats, obscure band t-shirts, handmade jewelery, rare or juxtaposed clothing.

Heels aren't much of a femininity thing as much as they are a power/sexy thing. I like being as tall as most guys or looking down, how much more my calves flex when I walk with heels than flat shoes, and I like the line of my feet [good thing about big feet, they arch nicely]

I originally posted this in the TG-TV forum because I wanted to opinion of people who are mutable, gender-wise.

  2. do you ever feel a bit strange and uncomfortable in wearing them in certain public circumstances and not in others? For clarity, I'm female, but I am very well in-touch with my masculine side, dress it occasionally, but I like to go back and forth and between to different degrees. I feel really uncomfortable with wearing heels to school - perhaps because it's mostly my masc. side that shows most there, and that's how people know me - but when I go to the mall, to my college class, or out to a place I've never been before, I have no problem at all...I wear my heels and I feel very happy and important. Discuss.

  3. Depending on how loose they are you can buy self-adhesive heel grips. It's just a wee sticky suede cushion that goes in the back of your shoe.

    Chris

It would have to be pretty thick. I tried stuffing the toe so my heel fits into the shoe heel, but I had to use so much. I like these shoes a lot, but if they're not comfortable it's no good. I'll probably take them back and get a different pair.

The other pair is 4 in platform stillettos with cork heels, made out of a pink patent material.

  4. I bought a pair of 4 or 5 inch all-black patent wedges. In flat shoes, an 8 fits wonderfully, but I like a tighter fit for heels and such [A 7 or 7.5] I would have bought the smaller size, but 8 was the only size in this style and I had to buy them. These are just slightly big - good width-wise, but not tight enough that my heel stays in when I walk. What can I do about this? Is there something I can do or buy to make them fit better?

  5. I bought Guild Wars a few days ago, but I can't play it until I "remodel" my computer with more memory, a new processor and motherboard, and a new graphics card. My favourite games: doom, all the quakes, all the tomb raiders, painkiller, the sims, all the unreals, american mcgee's alice, heretic, hexen

  6. D: I seriously dislike spring/summer shoes and clothes. I'm just a sucker for boots, pants, jackets, gloves, scarves, and things with fur trim, and I like the monochromatic colours and jewel tones. I constantly buy clothes in the winter but I can hardly ever find anything I like in the summer.

  7. You're right Dandy, she did say that. I am suggesting that she might be able to find some comfortable wedges or heeled loafers.

Hope I didn't offend anybody by thinking outside the box again.

    No heels :rocker:

That's why I didn't post this in a heel-related part of the forum.

I've given up on wearing heels myself, but I love it when men do.

  8. Unfortunately I think that any form of over the knee tights / socks would be playing into the schoolgirl thing, especially white ones. Would some funky stripy socks work? If you could go for a colour like pink or purple with black stripes it'd look more punk than schoolgirl, especially if you have something like Converse All Stars. You might need to try them with the skirt to know if they'd look OK. All my clothes are black, so colour co-ordination isn't something I normally have to deal with!

The polo shirt should be fine though, black goes with anything!

    Chris

Bleh! Striped tights are horrible. The only people who can really pull that look off are cybergoths who go completely into the style, anything less looks tacky. I can't even attempt to pull off that kind of cybergoth look.

I've decided against wearing it to work [spend too much time climbing ladders XD], though I'm definitely getting the skirt when it goes on sale, so that might let me do more with it. How about that, any ideas?

  9. Shrimper, she said that she wanted to wear flat-heeled shoes. Those ballet pumps would be perfect. They are pretty and would be very comfortable.

Wolfgang, I know I didn't mention it before, but what do you mean by "over the knee tights?" Do you mean capri-length leggings? If not, do you mean thigh-highs?

Not over-the-knee that way, but I found tights some time ago that come just over the knee as opposed to being completely thigh-high. Those footless tights make my legs look horrible.

The skirt mostly has black in it, other than green, with just a few white stripes in it.

it's from Hot Topic and, I'm apparently a lot shorter than the model because the skirt comes just above my knee. Perhaps, I could wear boots with it; not to work, but I have knee-high black moccasin boots and a pair of black mid-calf 2" wedges with furry trim.

  10. I want to buy a green plaid one. How can I wear it so that I don't look like I'm wearing a schoolgirl costume? The context: at work at a videogame store. I'm the only girl there so the outfit can't be too racy, and I'll be working with no shoes, or with flats since I have to be on my feet all day.

  11. Ooooh...I've never been sent home for an outfit, but I've done some really weird ones, mostly in middleschool. I dressed in a punk schoolgirl outfit with a plaid skirt, knee-high boots [not much of a heel, like 2 in], white wifebeater, and a blazar with anarchy signs and such spraypainted on it. Another time, I wore a long, black, silver, and pink raver skirt, a black and white shirt with mesh sleeves and print that looked like a comic book, metallic pink and silver shoes [not heels], a purple and blue hairpiece, and a lightup choker necklace. That was probably my most over-the-top outfit for middleschool. Also, I did a victorian-gothic outfit with a long black skirt, fishnets, grannyboots, a shirt that looked like a corset, a chain belt, and lots and lots of vampy makeup. My weirdest outfit in highschool was a mini skirt, with a long wrap skirt with straps and buckles overtop fastened so that the front was open and the back looked long, that corset-looking shirt with a long-sleeved one underneath, striped thigh-his, and chrome-toe platform gothic boots. Now, the weirdest thing I might do is wear a wolf or horse/troll tail to school. I want to go to college, so I must start being taken seriously by my teachers so they can write me nice letters of recommendation.
