  1. Why do we celebrate a complete failure?

Not sure we are intended to see it like that, basically it was an act of terrorism, which was caught before it was executed. – If we caught someone today planning to blow a plane up, or major sites in London, Manchester etc. we would regard that as a celebration.

sscotty727, I have to agree with Lindsay, most of the good stuff is years old – mainly the 60’s or 70’s, there is little around from today, W&G is inspirational, but other than this oasis in a desert of mediocrity; UK comedy is bland, tired and boring.

I think there are some great comedians out there who could write and perform outstanding work – but the investors over here just won’t take the risk – why when they can repeat great old British series, and import cheep stuff?

  2. Sort of Not really Celtic, and certainly not mythology – but that’s the big thing When someone of another religion (say Celtic) talks about their history and stories – then it is classed as mythology – not true of course, but when one speaks of one’s own mythology – it’s all true, and how dare you talk of the bible (sic) like that!! I just feel there is a lot more to history than we know, man has been on the earth for a long time, why only in the last 4 – 5 thousand years have we advanced? It is the case that as we find out more about science, we find out how little we know and how wrong we were – lots of elements now – not just earth, fire, air & water. I think there is enough evidence around which shows 10 – 20 thousand years ago man had discovered so much – how to determine time, distance, the stars etc. – they had maps showing the poles (under the ice) and many other things. Perhaps a lot of this was forgotten – say circa 10,500 BC followed by a phase of re-learning to about 7640 BC (the 7 part commit strike) when again a lot of this was forgotten, with another phase of re-learning, until about 3150 BC (Mediterranean commit strike) – again a loss of knowledge – and we enter the learning phase of today – actually a bit longer than previous phases so perhaps that is why we may have got a bit further? I think most of the mythology and stories we have today are stories of genuine events – somewhat corrupted of course, if people just opened up their minds perhaps we could learn so much. Remember – the Iliad was some fanciful myth – until Troy was discovered, Odysseus could not possibly have travelled where it was said, but now we know the coast and places described in the Odyssey did actually look like that in his time! - We realise that his fanciful meeting with the giant Cyclops – a single eyed giant which caused the water to froth & boil, and threw burning fireballs does actually sound like the best explanation for people who had never seen a volcano eruption! – Oh & by the way – there was a known eruption in the area described by Homer at the time described. My big theory is that man advances until some natural disaster around every 3-4000 years or so, at which point so much is lost – no calendar – nuclear style winter etc. so a big step back in knowledge, after which it is re-built etc. etc. BB

  3. Cool. What colours are available? I hope it's not just sickly green and murky blue - precious pink would be nice! sscotty727 It’s forgot all meaning since 1605, it is really the big thing around this time of the year, I know you guys think about Halloween, but generally in the UK I think that is pretty much ignored and Nov’ 5th celebrated. It was common place (certainly in the north west of England) that if someone came around begging – “trick & treating” they would be sent away quite offensively, but if they stood around with a guy – then most people would give without any problems (The idea is you build a guy – a badly dressed effigy of Guy Fawkes – and people give you money – which you use to buy fireworks, on the night the guy is burnt on a bonfire, and all the fireworks are set-off – that way everybody gets to see the fireworks as a general spectacle of the night) Obviously it isn’t as celebrated in Scotland! I think there is a bit of a push to stop kids being involved with fireworks with the nanny state, and some people are trying to introduce Halloween as the celebration – some kids are going for it I guess. For me, and most of the people I know (everybody I know back in the North west) it’s a pretty strong feeling for fireworks night, and against Halloween. BB

  5. Don't see the issue in driving with heels - how else would I get to work?:D:lol::lol::lol: Actually - I did drive a truck once, at work we needed to move one of the company trucks, and I was the only one brave enough to do it (So much for the men there!). It was quite easy - once I could streach my arms across the HUGE stearing wheel! ;) BB

  6. Not sure if it’s related, but in the UK there was an ancient tradition relating to water courses – from even before the beaker people! People would tie ribbons and other things to trees next to a river – usually at a crossing point, it marked an important place, there people would sacrifice their wealth – usually in the form of swords, cauldrons, jewellery etc.. (An example being when King Arthur threw his sword to the lady of the lake – or to try to get it at least a bit correct when Owain Ddantgwyn cast his sword Caliburn in the water – the “name” Arthur comes from the welsh arth and the Latin ursus both meaning Bear which was the symbol and title of Owain Ddantgwyn) In fact we still do this today, with “Wishing wells” – throw our hard-earned cash into a pool of water! Just ½ mile from my house I go over a small bridge which used to be a major crossing point for the river – here there is a single free-standing tree and it is always covered with ribbons and the like, and has probably been so for centuries. 7. I must admit I thought it was a guy - based upon waist/hips, but there again the chest is actually quite small, and as has been said the legs are OK. I think the boobs are removable! Helium balloons anyone? But yes a guy - even just based upon the choice of inappropiate clothing - my BF allways appears to use his best/white shirts for doing jobs in!!!!! (He doesn't look like that though ;) ) BB

  8. In all seriousness, I am not a agony aunt, but I would suggest you step carefully. I think it is a bit of a man-thing to think about an object being sexy (clothing in this case)– I know you are really thinking about her – but perhaps it doesn’t come across that way. I don’t know how to put it, but I guess most men would think that: “Those shoes would look really sexy on you” is the same as “You would look so sexy with those shoes” – believe me it isn’t! Just look at how women buy clothing, we look at the style – hold it up against ourselves, look in a mirror – we think how WE would look in that item – not how it looks on us, men tend to look at the item, make sure it’s the correct size – job done! (OK a bit general I know) So I think rather than showing a desire for her to wear high heeled shoes, I think you should show that beautiful as she is, how much more beautiful she looks with the shoes, and that it is not the item you desire, but how it makes a beautiful women such as her so much more so. - It’s how your relationship runs – so it’s difficult for anyone else to comment in all honesty. BB

  9. Hi, Happy they fit you! What's the quality and service like? they have a great selection - and they appear to describe each shoe correctly - I have had places in the past describe a heel as having a 5 1/2" heel - and it's just over 4" - was the heel etc on your shoe as described? BB

  10. As rubberheel says it's the overall image thing.

I have seen a number of styles like this

    Posted Image

(I know the second is a dress - but to me it presents more of an overall image to demonstrate)

For this I would expect strappy type shoes

    eg

    or

    Posted Image

    if it's a mini-kilt like Posted Image

but with an uneven hem - then thick stockings & boots (outside)

if it's a bit like a 50's skirt with an uneven hem (AKA like a witches skirt) then plain court shoes would be my choice!

  11. dr1819 I agree with you sentiments exactly, however in practice it’s more difficult, after all I need shoes to go to work etc. – so my choices are limited to what is in the high street shops, or if I can afford it – what I can buy from the better quality stores. Millions of girls shop every weekend looking for shoes for a wedding/holiday/party/etc. they cannot afford custom made so what’s the choice? Either they buy a design that’s not quite so comfortable, or well made, or even a design they don’t really like (but it’s the fashion) OR they go on their new date in a beautiful gown-less evening strap (something like that anyhow ;) ), a lovely handbag and make-up, hair especially done and a pair of comfortable training shoes! BB

  12. I didn't get to post for a couple of days...

What? ;) you didn't look at the site for a few days - how did you manage that?

What withdrawal symptoms did you suffer from?

Was it just the nervous shaking and repeated saying "I can handle it...I can handle it...I don't have a problem - I could stop it if I wanted to.....":lol:

    or something more serious? :D:o

Actually I have been away for a couple of days, my BF is big into fireworks, and assists with the big public displays so I have spent the past few days tramping around in mud; shifting mortars, loads of sand for bedding, and far too much high explosive for me to feel comfortable with!!

(To think years ago I used to get scared handling little two inch fireworks, I get terrified now shifting starbursts and lift charges around which are each bigger than my head!!!) :D:lol:

At least the money he gets helps… could buy some new shoes with that….

  13. From time to time I fly a lot, and I have to agree with the belief that so many staff are offensive and rude. The number of times the flight attendants stand chatting, putting make-up on and ignoring passengers is appalling. :D In saying that – I have also had exceptional service – I always flew out to Australia with Singapore airlines and the quality of service was excellent – and for you men there was no doubt that all the girls were naturally beautiful, and dressed and presented themselves very well. ;) (Small feet and high heels - even I noticed!) Funny you should mention about the US, but that did make me think. I hadn’t realised but the worst experiences have all been with US staff or in the US! – I used to fly into Miami frequently, and a number of times my luggage was delayed (lost) were unbelievable (although it was probably lost during the London transfer – never happened on a Paris transfer) – but the staff in Miami were appalling, both in their attitude, care, and service. (When I flew over – I always flew on the Friday, arriving Friday evening, drive down to the Keys and dive Saturday afternoon, and Sunday morning – then drive up to the cape Sunday night for work on Monday – It wasn’t so I could get some diving in, it was just because the flights were cheaper into Miami rather than the “Disney bus” over to the US! – Honest  ) BB

  14. Some time ago, I became so sick of hearing blonde jokes that I had my hair dyed brown. A few days after, I was out driving around the countryside and needed to stop my car to let a flock of sheep pass. They were beautiful cute woolly creatures, so I asked the shepherd, "If I can guess how many sheep you have, may I take one?" The shepherd said, "Ok if you can!" I don't know why, and for no discernible reason, said, "352." Would you believe it was the correct number???? Why the shepherd was understandably totally amazed, and exclaimed "You're right! O.K., I'll keep to my end of the deal. Take your pick of my flock". I carefully considered the entire flock and finally picked the one that was by far cuter and more playful than any of the others. But when I was done, the shepherd turned to me and said, "O.K., now I have a proposition for you. If I can guess your true hair colour, may I have my dog back?" Blondes rule KO BB
