I have a pair of knee boots which are synthetic patent leather probably pu which have gone dull in a particular area. What's the best way to bring back the shine? Can I use wax?

A color paste wax like Kiwi should do the the job. Apply it liberally to the area and let it cure for 10 to 15 minutes and buff. Don't overbuff though.
