I always feel awkward writing these sort of things. It feels kind of like a cross between writing a personal ad and a group therapy session. Well, here goes nothing... My name is Alex Jonas and I am in the Boston area of Massachusetts USA. I modify shoes. I have done two pairs of heels thus far with two more on the way. I will post pictures when I am allowed. I look forward to the education I hope to gain from all of you! Thank you for putting together such a wonderful site!

Hello and welcome Alex. Modify shoes interesting. In what way?

Colored soles and chain embellishments thus far. Pictures will be posted once I have permission (from this site) to do so. I would love to make them from start to finish but time and circumstances dictate that I only modify what others have made for now.

Cool! One of the other members inspired me to dig out my compressor and airbrush and dabble a bit in putting crazy graphics on shoes. I have a pair of 6' black patent stilettos from Ellie that I never wear just sitting collecting dust that are destined to become my first canvas.

BTW: What type of paint or coloring do you work in. I use acrylics (Liquitex) mostly with some of the special bases for creating pearlescent and metalflake finishes. I also enjoy working with Tamiya Color clear acrylics for tinting clear and chromed surfaces.

Would love to know more about this modifying thing as modifying is a step closer to building which is what I am into just now with a pair of lace-up open toe spike heel lug sole and the Ballet heel project is coming slowly.

I add embellishments to existing shoes. I haven't taken anything apart yet though it will soon come to that. For now my modifications have been by addition only. Any idea on how long it will take before I can post pics?

It depends on your participation here. But I don't think your far from dropping the "brand new member" tag. Keep posting real content like you have been for now. The mods like that. Settle in with us and have a good time. When the other site content opens up to you, enjoy but don't abuse the priveledge like so many have done. The rules are very specific (pay attention to the Tech support forums, Site annoucements and stickys at the tops of forum indexes). Everything you need to know can be found there.
