Mat under desk required or not?

ANyone in the office put a mat or nice rug under the desk? I found this is a nice idea to save our wooden floor and our heels.

My desk came with one of those plastic chair mats. My heels leave black skid marks under the desk.

I have one of those plastic clear mats that go under the desk and chair, at my home office. When I go to our local site and use a desk/computer, it's just the hard vinal floor tile. yes, it is, and an old medical building.

I prefer a nice fur rug with size as big as my desk.

Be careful how you sit and place your feet. Don't slouch. Put both feet flat on the floor or cross your ankles under the chair. Biggest problem is avoiding the legs of a swivel chair. They scuff the backs of heels something awful.
