  1. Not sure if I fully understand the second part of the question, but here goes: If it was a smaller town, say pop. 10,000? It's generally a conservative town along the Bible Belt (I'm generalizing ignorantly here) and everyone knows everyone with generations living there. Got a good image yet? I think when you say street-heel you're referring to women style heels like pumps...etc. I personally wouldn't street-heel in a town like that, simply for the fact that people would generally be too conservative. If I was single, then I wouldn't care too much. If I had a wife and kids, then I would do it for the sake of them. I don't think we would be invited to many social gatherings. If a family makes friends with us, I'm sure their friends would question them as well as question our family values and morals. Our kids would get picked on at school and probably have few friends, after all everyone knows everyone and rumors and gossip would spread quickly. So in a town like that, I don't think they are ready to see men walking around in heels, especially if you have to do business like local insurance sales. But again, if I was single, I wouldn't care. Now talk about a large city and I don't think many people would bat an eye as all kinds of people come to the city. It's a melting pot of sub-cultures. It's just my general thoughts.

  2. Very true Bubba. I've never seen anyone Chinese wear those mesh slipper either. I originally saw them growing up being worn by older ladies from Spain, Greece or somewhere along the Mediteraneans. If they weren't from there, maybe they were Mexican, Central or South Americans. Couldn't tell as a kid. I think people started calling them Chinese slippers because it looks similar to the Chinese bedroom slippers, except with a mesh.

  3. I've missed out many times because of hesitation, thinking I already had something similar or I didn't need it in that color. Then I go home and can't stop thinking about it. Then when I decide I really wanted it, I end up going back and missing it. Then I go around to other stores. Then I end up making a weekend out of it going from store to store. Then online. Can you tell I get passionate (or obsessive). :-?

  4. I'm sorry to hear that it was not a positive response. Like someone said above about "blowing the load" or something. You just shocked her and made her backup into defensive mode. It's a natural reaction when someone gets shocked. Let her come forward on her own. I think she just needs reassurance from you that you're not gay, a transvestite or whatever and that you're the same guy she has known all this time. The same nice, warm and loving person you have always been. You pretty much shook up her foundation. Take the time when your on your getaway and show her all the things about you that made her like amd trust you in the first place. Don't try to explain the boots or even talk about it unless she brings it up. Just don't forget to reaffirm her that you're still the same guy. It's going to be a long process like I said earlier. She may eventually come around to having you wear them, but just not in front of her or outside.

  5. Good for you. That was interesting reading your progression. I think if something makes you happy through natural stimulation, it must be good for you. If you're happy all the time it's not only good for the mind, but good for the body with a boosted immune system, higher stress tolerances...etc.

  6. Weird concept. Stopping posting because you like the post count avatar...

...on the other hand, looking at the boot, I can't blame you. :-?

I agree, this boot is an eyesore. I gotta get an avatar up soon to ease the eyes. But hey, it's a good way to get people to post more so they don't have to see these ugly shoes.

  7. The ones that Bubba posted up there are incorrect. The one womenshoelover is referring to are these:

    Posted Image

They come in a variety of colors and sequinced designs. I don't like them because of what I associate them with which are the grandma's sweeping the porches with their utility kitchen aprons.

Just food for thought: You must of seen the really thin flip flops with the thin thong strap and bamboo/straw footbed right? Those are popular here in the States currently. The idea was imported from South American poor farm workers. I think they look cute on the girls, but I'm sure some South Americans probably don't think so because of their associations with them like how I have with the Chinese mesh slippers and grandmas.

  8. I'm living the excitement vicariously through you. I've got so many pairs now, that I forgot how exciting it was to finally get your first pair. I still get excited when I want something new, but getting the first pair after all that time! You must get giddly still thinking about them. Nice going. Check the CD/TS sites for stores that cater to that market. They usually have large sizes in stock as men and our large feet are their main customers.

  9. It just really depends on how open minded she is. It might be a short process, it might be a long process before she can mind seeing you in heels. Most important thing is to ask how she feels about this subject. You can start by saying " You saw this guy/site wearing heels. What do you think about it?" Then based on her response, either back off or expose her to some crossdressing materials. Rent a movie for the weekend, like Priscilla in the Desert, To Wong Foo...etc. If her response is extremely negative, just back completely off and don't bring up the subject again if you really value her more than the heels. But keep in mind her views may change, so don't give up. If her response is pretty positive, try wearing something that won't shock her like wear her flip flops out to the backyard, or her bath slippers to go to the bathroom and think nothing of them as if they were men slippers. If she gives you a concerned look. Maybe don't wear them in front of her, but displace them from where she last left them. She'll get use to the idea of you wearing her footwear. You can then escalate it from there, but always keep in mind her feelings. Who knows you might have a very understanding wife as you tell her flat out. She might even make you wear them as she finds it amusing and interesting. She may not mind you wearing them as she wants you to be happy, but would rather not see you in them in person. People's view and acceptance changes over time. Just take it easy with her.

  10. I think a lot of sales clerks are use to it by now that men sometimes come in to buy ladies shoes for themselves. It's only the ones just starting to work for the first time may give you a stare a few seconds longer. I had a girlfriend that worked at a lingerie store. She thought it was cute that some men would come in and tell them the size they needed or asked to be measured. It was the nervous ones that would tell stories, while standing there sweating, would be the ones that gave her the creeps. She just wanted to help those ones as fast as possible and get them out the store. It made her feel that uncomfortable.

  11. I'd wear 'em! But I would prefer a pair that looked less like the ghetto Converse style and more like your average cross-trainer.

Funny that you mention them as ghetto. Not sure if they looked like cross-trainers would be any better. If it makes you happy, then okay.

  12. I for one love flip flops, more specifically the type that TabascoTesa and a few here despise, the platform flip flop variety. I also like the nice thin ones that are made out of leather, or hard rubber (maybe PVC?). I don't really care much about the cheap ones you can buy at the grocery store for .99 cents. Maybe it's because of where I live with the nice year round temperature, they wear it almost year round, even during light rain! And just like apparel or accessories, it's how you wear them. Flip flops are casual footwear, so the majority of people are going to dress relax, some tend to dress a little more relax and look sloppy. Is the guy wearing a faded shirt, with his longer under shirt sticking out, and worn out jeans sloppy? Maybe to some, but it's proper enough to make the front pages of catalogs like Abercrombie & Fitch, Gap, and American Eagle. To me, it seems like the ones that don't really like them have a different association to them like for showering, lack of time...etc. Granted, you're not going to wear ff to a boardroom meeting and vice-a-versa, you're not going to wear stilletos to the sandy beach. Although at my corporate office, it's near the beach, so the dress code is a little more lax, with VP's coming in wedged, heeled or flat leather thongs. :-?:D I for one think feet are just as important as judging how good or sexy someone's body is. If you can imagine a lady (or man) with a sexy curvy body and you think she's pretty hot. Then you look down and she has these chicken feet with hammer toes and bunions. Not very attractive huh? But if she had nice feet, what better way to show off her nice feet than to wear some flip flops? She has footwear on, but her nice feet are minimally covered.:D Now some people like to see ladies (or men) wearing underwear thongs or g-strings. They form that nice "Y" shape on their curvy behind. For those that like underwear thongs and g-strings, have you ever considered that feet have curves, and that a flip flop is like an underwear thong for the feet? Hmmmmm.... Just like everyone can't have a nice body, not everyone has nice feet. So maybe it's better that they don't wear flip flops and offend others. Thanks everyone for hearing me out on this.

  13. As PJ has mentioned about the ballet type heels, for me, it does loose it's appeal. If the heel is to go higher than PJ's avatar, it needs to be a platform. Then of course there's the platform heels that gets way too high like 18 inches and above. Although novel as it appears, after the novelty goes away, my function over form senses start kicking in.

  14. Thanks everyone for the very warm reception. It's very nice to see everyone with their preferences, yet is still open minded to new or different options.

Hi and welcome. By platform flip-flops, do you mean just a thick sole, or a wedge? Hope you decide to stay a while, we all have different tastes in shoes and enjoy talking about them. You never know, you might broaden someone's horizons!

    Chris

The ones I'm currently into more are kind of both thick soled and somewhat wedged, but not a true wedge. Here are some examples of what I mean:

    Generic leopard 4 inches

The next set fall under the same category but is NOT what interest me:

    close, but wrong shape

    literally a platform wedged ff

    has bamboo, too low

When worn right, it makes the ladies look relaxed, comfortable and playful. It makes their legs look longer and them taller. Also you get to see the feet, which is both good and bad. The bad being the callouses, hammer toes, cracked heels and/or dirty soles. :-? When it's worn sloppy, with them overly dragging their feet, or the light colored ff all dirty, or they dress really sloppy, it just doesn't work for me.

I guess you can compare these admiration and preferences to pump admirers. I think people take note in a pump in how smooth the leather is, how it makes the feet arch, the way the sole comes together to the body of the pump. The shape of the heel, the sound the heel makes with the different materials used...etc. Would you rather see how an astute secretary wears her pumps versus the mean librarian who wears her pumps because to her, they're just work shoes. Even though they are both wearing pumps, I'm pretty sure the secretary would pay more attention to the minor styling and shape cues, thus her pumps would look a whole lot more desireable.

    WickedHeelz-

Wow, you got some that are 5 inches? Are they from Kik Wear, I think they are 5-6 inches? I've seen them before in the store. I wanted to get them but I've got too many plat ff already. I've got them in black, white, tan, blue, baby blue, red and pink. I also have some where the thong straps are fuzzy like a how a teddy bear is fuzzy. I totally dig your avatar, those strappy types are still my favorite when it comes to real heels, especially the ones that you can wrap up your calf.

I really look forward to posting with everyone here. Darn, I think I found another way to spend hours on the computer. :D

  15. Hi everyone. I stumbled upon this site while googling for shoes which I think a few of us here may have done as well. I lurked for a while, simply because I didn't have the time to always be able to read the posts completely before I had other responsibilities to attend to. But hey, I've registered and am here, so "Hi" again. It's really interesting to read everyone's view of what high heels is to them and what it does to them. Also it was interesting to see what constitutes a "high heel" to them. For me personally, it's the pumps and stileto type heels, again, that's just me. I noticed there are the fashion minded ones that come here, the fetishist, and the one that associates sex and heels only. It's pretty diverse, yet almost segregated as the fashion minded ones are offended by the ones that associates it with sex only. Ummm, I better stop before I ignite a war on the boards. :-? I thought I was weird and for what ever reason was attracted to women's shoes, mostly the heeled and strappy variety growing up. Not only did I find it attractive on ladies, but I also wanted a pair to wear. Thought I was weird or gay or something. Remember this is all pre-internet days. As if you haven't figured out, I'm a guy. Boy, did the interent open up ideas and preconceivd isolation or what? Well, I've got an okay collection of heels. Mostly the platform type sandals, the strappier the better. What I have more are the platform flip flops. You know, the chunky foam type that the girls tend to drag as they walk around in their jeans or velour jogging suits? From what I've read on these boards, it doesn't seem that the majority of posters here like them. I agree some are pretty ugly, and some are shaped like I how I like them, the higher the better of course. Just like certain shapes of stilettos, some are better looking than others to the trained eye, while regular people just see a stiletto as a pointy heel. Know what I mean? Well, that's the reason for the title "...maybe wrong for the site". I'm currently more into the platform flip flops. I guess it's the sound of the slapping, maybe because it makes them taller, have longer appearing legs, they're relaxness in wearing them, maybe because they look cute like Japanese anime charaters with big chunky profile feet/boot? I'm not sure exactly, but that's what I'm really into now. There isn't a site like this that I have found where people openly discuss the topics here, like sleeping in their heels (I did that too a few times), make love/sex wearing heels...etc. So yeah, I'm looking more for a flip flop (not the plain rubber flat types) site, but I like this site as it's very diverse and open with good moderating. I think, it's supportive in a distant way, as I'm not the only one who may feel/think/do what has been discussed here. Wow, I've typed a lot. I'm going to stop now. So "Hi" again folks!
