  1. Hi thanks for the help we I usually do take her shopping and I agree maninpumps its best way to go ..... especially as she likes getting loads of different ones to try!! Was just interested which ones you all would pick.....

In the end when she went shopping with me those where the 4 she tried on and,,,,,,, she picked option 4!

Went really well with the dress!!!

    Pic: http://j.imagehost.org/view/0394/DSC01736

    WOW!!! :)

I chose option 1, but I gotta say that those shoes you bought look great on her!! Do you have any more pics of her wearing those shoes?

  2. For years I've loved the look of womens' shoes (especially high heel pumps) and have always wondered what it was like to wear them. It's too bad that it took me so long to finally try it. I always thought that I was the only guy who thought about wearing heels - if I had known even 10 years ago that other guys wore them too, I definitely would've started wearing heels back then. What I would like to find in the near future are some womens' clogs or ankle boots with a 2-1/2" or 3" heel that I can wear with jeans, and that look "unisex" enough that nobody would notice that they are womens' shoes.

  3. Hell, if my GF brought home some heels for me, she better have a pair for herself as well. But I'll tell you that I wouldn't be able to put them on fast enough! We'd have to spend the weekend wearing our heels together - and in some cases, wearing ONLY our heels! Although if they were 6" heels, they better have a platform - I'm wearing the equivalent of a 4" heel now & that might be about my limit.

  4. UPDATE: I finally bought my first pair of heels!! On one of the other threads, roniheels mentioned that he goes to Burlington Coat Factory for some of his shoes (thanks for the tip!) - so Friday morning, I went to one of the local BCF stores to see what they had. I was really surprised at how large their selection was - a lot of different styles of heels & boots to choose from. And even better, they had a lot of shoes in size 11! I first tried looking through the clearance racks, but they didn't have much that I was interested in - so I started looking at the shoes in the regular aisles. Saw some things I liked, but they either didn't have them in size 11, or they cost more than I wanted to spend. After looking around a little while, I finally found a pair that I really liked - and they actually had them in size 11! So I grabbed the box and went to where I could try them on (still a little apprehenseive about openly trying on womens' shoes in public). They fit great! So then I took a look at the price... $17.99!! I couldn't believe my luck - I couldn't take them to the cashier fast enough - I just wanted to go home and start wearing them! What I got was a pair of Bamboo "Office-01" black pumps. (See my avatar picture - that's them) They have a 4-3/4" stiletto heel with a 3/4" concealed platform in the toe box - so it's like wearing 4" heels. The toe is rounded too. I'm actually wearing them now as I type this. They're actually quite comfy for a pair of heels. However, I'm still adjusting to the feeling of my toes being crammed into the toe box - a slight bit of discomfort but it's not too bad. I've only been wearing them around the house a little bit as I learn how to walk in them, but I'm having a lot of fun wearing them! They look great and I'm happy I found them! I always wanted to try wearing high-heel pumps, and I love the new platform pumps - so I definitely got a pair that I'll love wearing. Now I know why women love their shoes - shopping for heels is so much more fun than the boring stuff for us guys.

  5. This poll did not mention the one type of shoe that I hate above all others... Flip-flops!! I can't stand to see everybody wearing those damn things - and the constant "fwap-fwap-fwap" sound they make is annoying too!! My favorites by a landslide are pumps! Great classic look - and the new platform pumps are sexy as hell too! Also love slingback pumps, high-heel mules & clogs, and ankle boots!

  6. Get the guts to wear a skirt and heels at the same time! I haven't bought pumps yet but I have worn wedge heel sandals with a skirt while I was going to a salon to get my hair styled. As Martin Luther said, "Sin boldly"

That's just not something I'm interested in doing. Like a lot of other things, different people have different motives for doing what they do. There really is no wrong answer.

For me, I'm just interested in the shoes and finding something that I can work into my current wardrobe without wearing skirts, etc. I don't think that I could pull off the skirt & heels look - I'm more interested in wearing a pair of heels that goes well with my dress pants.

I am wanting to start wearing pumps, but for now I'm going to keep that at home. As someone just starting out in the world of men wearing heels, my comfort level is not yet to the point of wearing them in public. So when I do start wearing heels in public, I'm going to start with something a little more "unisex" looking for now. Over time I might start wearing pumps out of the house, but I really have no interest in wearing other things like skirts, etc.

But that's the enjoyment of it - just wear what you want and have fun. Whatever works for you, that's cool. Us guys who like heels need to support each other if we want to gain acceptance for wearing them.

    Cheers!

  7. CowboyBoots - I wear a size 10 mens' shoe. The typical rule of thumb is to add 2 size to your mens' size to find the appropriate women's size - but after thinking that I would need a women's size 12, I found out that I only had to wear an 11. That printable chart from Famous Footwear was a real help - you can find it on the detail page for any shoe - just click on the link for "Fit Assistance". However, different shoe brands run larger/smaller than others. My GF usually wears an 8, but some of her shoes are 8-1/2 - which is why I'm sticking to the strategy of trying before I buy - unless you know for certain that a certain shoe will fit you, then go ahead & buy online. Happy to help

  8. Greatings :-)

I agree with you: It depends on how they are being worn. I always wear my boots/shoes with "male" clothing.

(I don't wear skirts, dresses, leggings etc). You may want to take a look at the picture in my gallery here http://www.hhplace.org/album.php?albumid=9&pictureid=73 .

Daniel - I feel exactly the same as you do & I think you got the right approach to wearing heels in public. Your picture is a good example.

Even though I'm really into getting some pumps now, I think that for public heeling, the best thing to do is start off with some womens shoes, boots, clogs, etc. that look "gender neutral". Rather than a pair of pink pumps or peep-toes, a shoe with a chunkier heel would go well. There's loafers and oxfords for women that have 3"-4" heels that nobody would notice if you wore them unless they really looked. I think if guys for the most part started off this way, that it would go a lot further in mens' heels gaining acceptance. Then gradually we can start wearing more of the pumps, sandals & other feminine styles. That's just my opinion, though.

  9. What a cool forum nickname!! If you are considering pumps then you should read some of the many posts by "roniheels" who has worn pumps, and other very feminine styles for years as a man and not trying to pass as a woman or anything. He just works them into an array of different outfits and is able to go about his business while wearing stiletto heels. Bsides, these days with girls' bootcut jeans you could wear some 4-5" stiletto heels and only the bottom inch or two would show so what are you waiting for??? And I'm only talking about the closed toe style of pumps. You could also wear the peep toe kind as well but might be anxious to show your toes. Like "roniheels" I also love stiletto heels and any kind of higher (5"/12.5cm or higher) as I have great balance, decent-lloking legs, and am only 5' 8.5" (174cm) tall and we two are the tip of the iceberg. This forum is all about sharing and encouraging others to enjoy life from " a higher perspective."

Happy - thanks for the advice & tips - I'll check out roniheels' posts for more info.

At this point I doubt that I could go out wearing pumps in public, even under a pair of jeans. I'm not even sure that my GF would be into that, but if we're ever shopping for shoes for her, and she gives me the typical female challenge to try heels (she's done it before) I'll say "sure" & see if she likes the idea. But I think that for now I'll keep the pumps at home. I could probably get away with the right pair of women's clogs or ankle-high boots with a 3" heel, as long as the front part of the shoe doesn't look too girly. Just have to get some jeans with slightly longer legs to cover some of the heel.

  10. After a long time of being curious about wearing heels, I finally started shopping for some shoes. I've always wanted to try some high heel pumps, and after doing much research and reading on this forum, started shopping around a few days ago. I started at the online sites for the big shoe retailers, such as DSW, Famous Footwear, etc. Famous Footwear had a printable measuring chart so that you could measure your foot. I printed out the women's chart and found that I could wear a size 11 - which is good, since it seems that anything size 11 and under has a better selection to choose from. No need for a wide width shoe either - I fell into the standard width range. So I decided to go out & shop in person, but was extremely nervous about being seen trying on a pair of pumps. I wore a pair of mens' clogs so that I could slip my foot in & out of my shoe quickly. Rather than starting out at the shoe-only stores, I decided to start at the nearby Target & see what I could find there. Plus, it's a large enough store that the shoe dept. isn't always full of people. I got there & went to the shoe area - there weren't any people around except a female employee setting up some shelves a few aisles over. So I walked around mainly near the men's shoes - there were some women's pumps (low heel) in a clearance bin on the back aisle. I saw a pair of size 11's staring me in the face - since nobody was around, I quickly grabbed them and slid one onto my foot. Perfect! The 11's fit great! But what I was really after were some high-heel pumps. I like the closed-toe shoes (no peep toes for me) & want a 4" heel. I also like the ones with a 4.5" or 5" heel & the little mini platforms concealed in the toe box. I walked over to the aisle where the women's shoes were & quickly scanned for something that might work. I saw a pair of black pumps & quickly grabbed them & went back to the mens' shoe aisle. I got the shoes out & put them on the floor - then slipped my foot out of my shoe & stepped into the pump. Again, it fit perfectly & was actually quite comfortable! But after taking it off, I saw that the heel wasn't as high as I wanted, so I took that back to where I found it & quickly looked for something with a higher heel. Saw another pair of black pumps, but in size 10 (no 11's). I grabbed them anyway to see if I might fit in them & went back to the mens' aisle. Tried putting my foot into it, but no dice - too small for me. By this time, more people had started making their way in & around the shoe area, so I ended my shoe shopping there & left. The next day I was running an errand & drove by an "adult video & novelty" store - their outside sign said that they now carry women's shoes. So on my way back home, I stopped there & went in to see what they had. There was a display of "Pleaser" brand shoes - mostly strappy "stripper" shoes with huge platforms & open toes. I asked the salesgirl if they carried any other styles & was looking for pumps, but she said no. She then said that she didn't have any size 10's (I guess she somehow knew that I was shopping for myself). & that the largest size in stock were 9's - so no luck there either. But now that I broke the ice, I'll continue shopping around & see what I can find. I'd rather try & buy in person than buy online & have something not fit right - I'll find my shoes soon.

  11. Thanks for the Burlington Coat Factory tip, guys! I never thought to look there, but there's a couple stores in the area and I'll go check out the one near me to see what they have. Hopefully the size selection varies from store to store. I was thinking that I would have to find a women's size 12, but I measured my foot and I can wear a women's size 11 - which is good, because it seems that 11 is about the limit for a good selection of shoes, but when you go up to 12 your choices are a lot more limited.

  12. Interesting topic & poll. I answered "man in heels". I really don't have any desire to cross-dress as a woman or wear anything that is overly "girly" - I wouldn't make a very good looking girl. But I do have a desire to start wearing high-heeled shoes. I would like to see shoe companies begin to make more mens' shoes, clogs and boots with 3" or higher heels. I have a pair of "Beatle" boots that have a 2" cuban heel that I wear occasionally. There are oxford shoes with high heels being marketed for women, but are simply mens' dress shoes with a heel. I would definitely buy a pair if they were marketed as unisex or for men, and am definitely considering buying a pair of the womens' shoes if I can find some in size 12. However, my one exception to the rule is womens' high heel pumps (closed toe, no peep toes). I always wanted to try on a pair of pumps with a 4" heel. I also like the 4-1/2" to 5" heels with the concealed mini platform in the toe box - those are really hot! Not sure that I would wear pumps in public, but I wouldn't mind seeing them become accepted as something for men. I'm also a nudist, and would really have fun wearing high-heel pumps at the nudist resorts I visit.

  13. I have always loved them myself, and am always looking to find more. I have a few styles, pictured below:

Jay - I really like those clogs in the first picture - what brand/model are those, and where can I find them?

I want to find some clogs with heels and those look masculine enough that nobody would suspect that they're womens' shoes.

  14. I've been seeing oxford high-heel shoes for women that are basically a men's oxford or wingtip dress shoe with a 3"-4" heel. I wish that these were made & marketed as unisex heels that were available for men too, without having to buy "womens" shoes if I want a pair. Anyone out there have a pair of these?
