1. RonC,

I always wondered about that term myself. Hidden from whom? Pretty obvious to me!

"Embedded" platforms would have been a better description.

    Steve

Embedded platform - I like the sound of that appellation! Anyway I like the shoes but I prefer boots or oxfords. However, I too have a pair of poorly made 5.5" heels that feel like the heel is going to bend backwards of the end of the shoe. I bought them from eBay for about $50 so I guess I got what I paid for, but I really don't want to have to pay $200 to get decent stilettos.

  2. Thanks, Sounds like a fun place to work and wear what you want. Glad the heels do the job on the tendonitis. far better than lifts!!

You have painted a fine picture in my mind. Love to see a real one! :)

    Jim

    So would I! :)

To the guy who said a girl touching his leg is cool, I totally agree - I would love to get pleasant comment about my heels. I did surprise some nurses at the hospital a few weeks back when I wore heels to an appointment where I had to be measured and they had to measure the heel to get my height. Turns out I'm getting shorter - time to get higher heels!

Don't worry what people think OP, just be ready with a smart answer for the ignorant staff but ignore people who say things in the street to avoid a fight. But if you get into a fight hit him with your heels - it'll sure smart and he won't soon forget it.

  3. I no what you mean I'm 60 pounds more than you,and i'm trying to shed as many pounds as I can because I want to be able to wear my highheel boots and be comfortable wearing them I wish you lots of luck..

I am 20 more pounds than that (280) and I think I may break my new stilettos since they weren't designed for someone of my weight. Anyone know stilettos that could support me?

  4. Slightly off topic, but is it normal for stiletto heels to flex backwards when you stand or walk, especially on a linoleum floor? Am I right in thinking I need better quality heels? Or am I just to heavy for stiletttos? I am 20 stone and 5'9" and the heels are 5.5" with 1.1" platform. Hereis a link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220937096506?var=520065208650&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Mine are size 16 (US)/47 Eu. Btw anyone know a shop in the UK that sells hh ankle boots in that size, where I could take these along for size comparison?

  5. i love the louboutins featured above, and im very happy for their owner! thanks for sharing with us. i wish his famous footwear from the female side was available in my size :( im uk 11 with wide feet and CL seems to go up to 8 only, like most womens shoes. i realy like his ankle boots in black with that lovely trademark London Buses red sole :)

  6. I'm wishing I didn't like heels because I just broke the heels of my only pair by trying to run in them when I was late getting out of the house, and now I can't find anything in my size (uk11). I don't want to buy from a shop, cos I'm not brave enough to try them on and I think that us13 may be too small for me (from Payless - the only place I could find some styles I liked at a good price) and don't know if they will ship to the Uk. Other wise, as some have said above, I only wore heels when in the right mood for it, and when I felt I could wear them without tripping or getting tired.

  7. I used to wear heels shopping but as I live on the 3 storey of a flat of same, I can't carry the shopping up with heels on cos it's too tiring. I also have asthma so I don't like to make several trips up the stairs with the shopping. Anyway, I can't wear heels to the sops in the summer holidays cos there are too many kids to dodge and it's hard enough to stop a shopping trolley with flats on. With heels I might end up either: 1 breaking my ankles stopping 2 hitting the kid 3 tripping and falling under the trolley on my tailbone But I do see lots of women in 4/5 inches shopping in supermarkets here.

  8. Great story! One day I went to see the nurse at my doctors surgery and went she asked to weigh and measure me,mshe seemed surprised that I was wearing women's 4inch heels under my really long business trousers. I then found out that I'd shrunk an inch since last time :(

  9. I wore heels almost every day to college, and my friends loved em, and nobody else said anything bad. Some older people and "chavs" gave me funny looks, but most women seemed impressed that I could walk in them, although it didn't win me any dates, but then I'm not that good looking anyway! The heels were 4"

  10. I voted all three, but I think that in marketing the term "men's heels" is used to allow any unknown to charge the earth for what are basically mainstream high heels (usually boots) that you could get from the so called women's side (albeit usually in a smaller size) for a lot less; take the ones shown by Gudulitoo in the post I quoted, over £100 for the Rick Owens lookalikes when you could get Togo boots on eBay new for £40, which are probably the same quality, but marketed as women's shoes even though in larger sizes. I just want all shoes to be available in all sizes, so both men and women can have heels and flats in their collections, and buy their shoes from ASDA or similar! There will always be people against men in heels (thankfully my Mum isn't - she just worries that I may fall and with good reason, lol, and reminds me not to wear them when I'm gonna walk on cobbles - btw how do the women in Corrie do it?!) but if marketers would aim cheap heels at men as well as women, then much of society would probably accept us - on that note I wore really loud sounding heels to college yesterday - not my first public heeling but my OMANOs that I've sold weren't so loud, and nobody seemed to mind or really notice, only one person looked up as I entered the room because a lady in heels was stepping in time to me so they probably thought both of us were gong to enter the class room!

It seems that a number of stores are now selling heeled shoes designed for men.

I don't know if the design procedure they used (that I attempted to describe earlier in this thread) resulted in shoes that match the desires of people in this forum :

These ones are really great :

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/vb-HOMME-Mens-killer-Heel-Oxford-Dress-Shoes-Enamel-MoD-/230513384837?pt=US_Men_s_Shoes&var=&hash=item7b6722b600

This store have some shoes of interest :

    http://stores.ebay.com/GENTLER/_i.html?rt=nc&_sid=1022390165&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1513&_pgn=1

While it seems they have taken into account the interest of men in new colors, I am not sure it is so well tasted... Maybe have to rethink the design procedure ?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mens-Hand-Made-Trendy-Boots-Western-Style-2-colors-4714-/150609612294?pt=UK_Men_s_Shoes&hash=item2311084e06

Some of them are confusing the 2011 trend with fashion in the seventies, but why not reusing the old designs, its cheaper, and it was well proven as a best seller, namelly the wincklepicker beatle boot !

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MENS-LEATHER-POINTED-WINKLEPICKER-ZIP-CUBAN-HEEL-BOOTS-/260826942719?pt=UK_Men_s_Shoes&var=&hash=item82650d309a

I am sure in a few months you can buy a 4" heel beatle boot !

Now for the Louboutin's look alikes supporters, there is the men's equivalent, the Rick Owens look alikes here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mens-Hand-Made-Trendy-Boots-10-cm-Kill-Heel-Boots-9001-/150605458187?pt=UK_Men_s_Shoes&hash=item2310c8eb0b

And this ones are totally indescriptible (mix between slippers and court shoe), so a ballet flat equivalent I guess :

  11. I just got these lovely booties from Barney15c - I can't close the zip, but it doesn't bother me cos I love them anyway, and I can slip them on and off like pumps! ( I've never worn pumps since I was 6-8 and never with a 4in heel) so its interesting to have boots that don't cover the ankle. Will upload photos later - iPad doesn't want to :S

  12. I recently started heeling and most of my heeling is in public; I enjoy the sound of my 4in heels as I wander round the supermarket or in a hospital corridor! Good luck to you mate! Soon you'll wear heels everyday, as I have since October 2011 (2in, then 4in from December). I can no longer hide my heels as my longest jeans split on the inside leg!! (I was getting into a Xsara Picasso at the time :wavey:)

  13. I was in a grocery store checking out one time with the wife purchasing a 6 pack while wearing makeup. I am 37 but the lady checking us out carded me. When she looked at my driver's license and age, she looked at me again in awe and told me that life has been really good to me! Obviously she thought I was a lot younger than I really was yet I am sure the makeup helped!

Too lazy to grow and maintain long hair (and unwilling to risk hair loss due to relaxing/straightening it/wearing extensions) I began wearing wigs when I go out this year, and I'm always carded by young checkout assistants, but when I didn't wear one, I was always told by friends/colleagues that I look 30-40! So long straight "hair", high heels and a metrosexual dress style have taken 20 years plus off of me, taking me back to my correct age!

  14. I pre-apologize to anyone that feels insulted for what I'm about to comment. After looking at the picture of the girl in heels, I thought, that it was plainly wrong.

Considering the fact that high heels are terrible shoes to wear (or so my girlfriend claims), I don't see any good reasons for wearing them besides making my girlfriend so damn sexy. Heels "lengthens" the legs and perks up the butt. Can't keep my hands off it. Although I love it when my girlfriend wears them, I discourage her from wearing heels most of the time reserving them only for special occasions.

Anyways, my point here is that a girl nine years old hasn't developed the features which high heels are supposed to accentuate. As a matter of fact, heels causes deformities of the feet and I believe that it can possibly harm development of the girl. I would classify in the same group the parents who would allow/force their prepubescent children to wear heels as the parents who allow/force their children into beauty pageants. Why not just let kids be kids? There are plenty of chances to wear heels once they grow up.

I know you apologized but what you said is one of the reasons men in heels aren't openly/widely accepted - you (and the majority) think heels are to make women look sexy, this it not always the case, most heelers (male and female) wear heels for height, and because they like the look of them.

I have no kids, but I don't see any problem with little girls (or boys for that matter ) wearing heels, IMHO boys/men should wear boots or loafer/Oxford type "masculine" styles and girls more feminine slyles, but not as a rule, just my opinion (in fact most males in this board I have seen in pumps etc look good so maybe forget what I just said about masculinity, lol).

The Sun lies we all know (or will learn one day!) that, but I think that kids should wear heels if their generation is going to accept men's wearing of heels heels should become the norm (not as a necessity, but no one should be prevented from wearing the,). I do agree that little girls in 5 inches all day is too much from ampn orthopaedic POV, but maybe every Friday (or whichever is half day - same for boys) and lower heels or flats normally. As for "Katie" in the picture - she is possibly just another preteen model, She is dressed as most girls do these days, and I say lucky boys, lol, but seriously why does everyone think finding kids attractive is wrong? Age is just a number (Im not saying child molesters are ok, I'm just saying you can be fond of kids without hurting them, just as people can disapprove of say, homosexuality without committing hate crimes). Forgive my rambling it's late here (2:47am), but just my 2 bits.

  15. Hi Sleekheels,

there is one problem with what you say. Going up stairs in heels is dead-easy - its coming down thats 10 times harder. You would need to be practising going down stairs because going up stairs you don't need to use your heels...

    Heel-Lover

Maybe its just me but I find goingdown stairs 100 times easier than going up - I could run down (and do every morning so I don't miss my ride to college) but going up I have to be careful so I don't end up back at the bottom in pool of blood, tangled up in my 4 inch heels.

I sorta ran in them today in the supermarket cos I was running late (no pun intended, honest) but gave up after a bit - besides I was pushing a trolley so it was cheating. I have run in my 2in heel cowboy boots, quite a distance for a bus, but I though all eyes were on me cos of the noise o the heels.

  16. Hi there

I bought these ankle boots last week, they are simple but they look good. Here are some pics.

    Bye

Wow those are nice, looks like a sturdier type of stiletto!

Did not use zoom. It's a tiny pocket camera, as said I suspect it gets knocked around too much. Will try with the Rebel XT soon.

    Pics looked fine to me!

    Winter Sale at Nine West.

I could not resist these boots at $38.00!

    With Free Shipping.

And with the Nine West distribution center only a few miles from my home, I received them 2 days after the order.

    Size 12.

    4" chunky heel.

    Thick Lugger Sole.

    Lace up with no zippers.

Comfortable and warm for the cold weather we are finally getting.

Wow I have been looking for boots like these for ages!! Do you think my local Nine West would have them? What's the item number so I can check the site? Those are great high heel walking boots! No more slip n slide (just like Trina, haha).

Edit: Found em but here they only go upto size 9 on the site, so probably the same in the shop

  17. Would these stretch to fit a wide size 11 foot? My left is wider than my right, and has been triple fused so I need to be careful a out wearing tight boots (especially heels). My ankle seems to be telling me 4inches is th max for me . I wanted to try 5; looks like I will have to go for one with a platform - how are these to walk in, does the platform make tripping easier?

  18. About stretching your boots, in case they are made of real leather you may be able to stretch them by wearing them. Otherwise a shoemaker may be able to do it. With synthetic materials the chances are less good I guess.

Thanks, I finally managed to stretch them buy sleeping in them last night, and walked out in them today!

I went and shopped in Tesco and carried shopping up to the 2nd floor (3rd floor in US terms ) while wearing the boots, so as I thought before it was a matter of fit not heel height that stopped me wearing them before.
