  1. Interesting discussion. I guess like some of ther others I think I fall somewhere between the groups. I look like a guy, I have broad shoulders and a v shaped torso from training. Slim fit tapered shirts work fine for me on my upper body , but I have difficulty finding men's trousers that fit well because they are cut too big in the waist and bum as well as too small in the thigh. Womens pants however fit me much better and are on average soooo much nicer to wear. As mentioned above they more naturally "go" with heels. Having said that I love to wear heels regardless of my body form. I've also found that my lower half looks great in a skirt, but the appearence of a v-shaped torso on top looks weird so I don't wear skirts out. I've also tried dresses but it's ridiculous as when the dress fits well over my lower half the upper part is about half the size it needs to be !

  2. I wore my 5" stiletto boots one time taking a european flight with a connection through Copenhagen. Its was a great heeling outing and made me appreciate quite how big airports can be. The security went fine. I just took my boots off and put them on the conveyor. Nobody really seemed to notice. I had a quite a few looks but no comments. Clicking around the duty free shops was fun. In such a situation checking out female perfumes seems to confuse the sales ladies a bit.... While waiting in the passport control queue I could hear a group of middle aged women behind me quietly discussing my heels, so I made sure I moved my heels a bit to give them a good look. On the flights it was nice to stride up the aisle and then sit down & stretch out my legs and admire the sight of my own stilettos.

  3. Good for you Legs ! Supermarket trips worked well for me to develop my courage to push the boundaries. Ramping it up with new heel heights, styles and and increased clicking noise is great fun and preserves the thrill. These days I love to see the reactions I get, which are mostly nothing and the occasional double take. .... and yes the extra height is great to look down at others (I'm 6'4" in my big heels).....Some of the other things I like to entertain myself with in a supermarket are: - when somebody is looking closely at something on a lower shelf , I stop as close to them as possible and reach up for something on the upper shelf giving them a close up view of my heels..... - seeing if I can spear the odd pieces of fruit or pick and mix sweets lost on the floor with my stiletto...... - Showing visibly that I can better handle my heels than the few women wearing decent heels while shopping....

  4. I have never once seen someone snap a cell pic of me, but honestly I have never looked close enough to others to notice. I have worn my heels in public for 20 yrs and have yet to see someone follow me for more than anything other than they happen to be going in the same direction or heading to the same place. I figure, when I am out, if I walk past someone not expecting to see a guy in sexy heels they simple would not have the time to react without being obvious themselves.

Agree....I imagine it would be really really difficult to get a picture / movie of me with enough clarity of my face to be recognised. To do this they would need to be quite close and in front of me. I'm sure I'd see it and turn away. If it was was blatant I'd confront them and ask them to erase the pictures...................

  5. Getting back to the orginal question. I've bought stuff off Primafila-Italia before. I have tried the auctions but always lose out in the last few minutes when the price skyrockets so have given up with that. The buy it now prices seem very very high to me, so I've attempted the make an offer option. You have limited number of attempts to avoid working your way up from a very low price. My expereince when I've been succesful is the sellers enter a private e-mail negotiation with you ending up somewhere between 33% & 50'% or the buy it now price. Still very expensive, but a HUGE saving. Quality is very very good.

I wonder if it isn't easier for men to wear heels. We are on average stronger and heels require more leg condition and strength to handle well. Maybe the women who let themselves go just arn't strong enough to wear heels for any length of time.

  7. Your friend obviously has difficulty accepting you wearing heels. My advice is to respect this difficulty and not wear heels when you are with him to show him you are the same person he knew before. Overtime he will get to understand you better. Who you tell and who you don't is obvously a personal choice. My choice is to separate my heeling activity from my work, family and "traditional social life." I personally believe (but have never tested this belief) it would negatively impact the way others perceive me in those groups. Since I enjoy those parts of my life I'm not in a hurry to stir things up. I enjoy my heeling separately in strangers only situations. I know many here may disagree with this viewpoint, but right now it works for me.

  8. Maybe back then, but now with micro motors and micro electronincs available to us, I'm not so sure. The heel itself can be used to house the micro motors and cell communication and control electronincs. The spike inside the heel can be used as an antenna if so required so long as a metal heel tip is not used. AB foam could be used for the foot encasement though it's going to get a tad warm for the few seconds it takes to set. And the culprit could control the whole thing from a cell phone.

So yeah, if someone set their mind to it, it really could be done now.

" I lit the torch and tried melting or damaging the heel. I held the blue flame to the black patent portion of the heel above the gold metal spike for about 15 minutes. No luck at all. I was so scared I didn't know what to do. I kicked and kicked the pavement, over and over with my heels as I screamed to try breaking them but nothing changed. The shoes were on my feet to stay........There was a powerful chain/bolt cutter used to cut very large chain. When I knew nobody was watching, I placed my heel into the claw of the cutter and forced the lever down. I used more force, and it finally moved! It was moving down! I was going to be free! After the handle went to the ground, I raised it and pulled my foot out of the cutter. The shoe wasn't damaged! The heel was perfectly intact. I looked at the cutter and realized that it was ruined. It had a large hump in the blade where my heel had been. I ran out of the store and entered my car, crying with fright."

I agree that the control systems and electronics are available today, but the strength and the resilience of the materials are way beyond anything that exists on earth. Maybe they use kryptonite. That would probably do the trick. :-)

  9. I have more men's than women's shoes. I have about 20 pairs of women' shoes of which about half are boxed in the attic as I'm not using these right now. The other 10 I use. I have maybe 50 or 60 pairs of men's shoes half of which are sports shoes of various types. Of the non sports shoes I have a good deal of conventional business shoes, some casual shoes and some edgy special mens shoes. I'm a little surprised that so many on this forum of "shoe lovers" don't seem to buy, use and treasure some of the special men's shoes that can be found if you look hard.

  10. Yup. Sounds like a clear case of shortened achilles and "calf" muscle. Advice ....everything in moderation as the old saying goes. I actually find uisng heels for short duration (say max 1 hour at a time) mixed with plenty of flat use has resulted in better flexibility of the ankles and foot than I had before I started wearing heels. Since I don't use heels at work and not being a woman don't need to do so to conform I feel I have a healthy mix.

  11. I noticed the car behind me was a lady driving (which made me feel less anxious,(dont know why!)). :wavey::)

Well done ! What a great experience !

Interesting that you mention that a lady seeing you made you less anxious. That was my expereince as well and I still prefer to be spotted by women. Their reactions are much more interesting. I sometimes even find myself comparing my heels with those worn by others. I want mine to be higher, better looking and I want to been seen to walk better than they do. Plus I want to make 100% sure that there is no doubt that I am a guy.

  12. So far I have to say I've had NO scary reactions and have probably heeled in public mostly in 4" to 5" heeled boots more than 100 times. I've had quite a few looks, people whispering excitedly to their partner after noticing me, people following me at a distance to "take a look", a couple of wolf whistles (sarcastic), a few compliments (all from women) and perhaps surprsingly no laughs or giggles as far as I can tell. My look is leather jacket and jeans type of thing with black or brown boots. I sometimes wear my boots over my jeans and some of my boots high steel heel tips so they make quite a bit of noise. Surprisingly I still don't get many reactions.

  13. Wow a trip to NY ! I'd love to go heel shopping & heeling in New York. Maybe one day. I use a size 41, which are always snug on me. Boots in european 41 are good, but shoes often a bit tight (especially Zara and Aldo). My experience in the US is that US womens 10 are definetly too small for me and I always need to go for US womens 11. Even some of these can be too small for me.

  14. I have a fear of heights and recently took a trip to "Go Ape" (Grisedale). It was really tough to get going. The first trip over the first wire bridge being the toughest, and probably represented about 20 seconds of courage. The whole 2 hours were really tough, but I completed the course. The result was that I'm not cured, but am much better with heights now.

  15. Walking in heels not only shortens the achilles (and probably wouldn't cause the amount of acute pain you are describing), but can also inflame the achilles because it is bent more severley than usual at the top of the heel cup and repeately irritated while walking. I've had this problem myself after walking in heels longer than I'd ever done before. It was very painful, but I recovered quickly. I'd say rest and no heels for a week or 2 will cure it.

  16. Interesting experience monsterp63. I havn't seen many such incidents on the forum, but maybe I havn't looked enough. I've had a few incidents myself in public especially in my earlier days of heeling when you are suddenly exposed more than you want to or planned to be. In hindsight they increase your self-confidence, but at the time the feeling goes from thrill to panic. The main thing is to stay cool, look the others in the eye and carry on as normal. On my second trip out in heels 2 years ago I was at a supermarket check out when one of the items I have bought had a pricing problem. The cashier rang for help and 2 additional people arrived. They had trouble fingering it out and long line was building up behind me. I felt more exposed than I wanted to be at the time. Of course the problem was fixed and nobody seemed to notice I was in heels. I had a another expereince yesterday when I walked into a shop in my new Carvela black suede platform stiletto boots. It was raining outside and as I entered the shop I slipped on the floor and very nearly fell over. Not quite sure how I kept my balance. About 5 or 6 people suddenly looked over alarmed at the commotion. It was embarassing because it must have been totally obvious that this was a guy wearing heels so high that they were clearly the cause of the incident. I froze for a second, felt like turning and leaving the shop, but then regained my composure & walked in.

  17. Platforms are sexy, make me feel taller and confident, they are also fetish and typical of a "bad girl". My heels with platforms are deliciously sexy and amazing ...what more ???

    .

    Totally agree Roxy.

A well designed platform with a good stiletto is just soooo sexy.

  18. Hi Stilettopete, Well done on getting out and about. Its such a thrill that I'm sure you will be going back for more soon. Your expereince of quite rapidly building confidence once you get out is very typical I think. Pretty soon you will be wanting others to hear the sound of your heels instead of wanting them to be almost silent. If you are anything like me you will be targeting the noiser floor surfaces and heel tips and looking for reactions from people. Shops with wooden floors while wearing metal tip stilettos are amongst my favourites, lovely sound , nice secure grip :-)

  19. Glad they published the review, but in my opinion it would have been better if you had mentioned that you're a male and that you like heels. I think it's important to let the suppliers (and other customers) know who's buying high heels.

    Steve

Hmm maybe I will try this. It would be intereting to see if they remove the review or if they are open minded.

  20. I was looking for a high black suede ankle boot and got the last size 41 of this edgy version from Carvela in the sales from Amazon. I'm not disapointed as they are stylish, fit me well and are actually pretty comfortable for such a boot. The heel is higher than expected measuring a full 6 inches at the back in size 41 ! I've been noticing this style of heel for some time now on quite a few shoes and boots and have been itching to try a pair out. It has quite a bit of flex but dosn't seem to be a problem when walking and I suppose can be expected in such a high stiletto. With the 3 cm platform the boots really let me know I'm strutting a major stiletto and it feels great ! Some of my other boots feel almost flat after wearing these. Not so taken with the sock feature & will probably and keep it hidden under jeans. I expected the zip on the outside to be a non-functioning feature, but it is actually a working zip that makes it a bit trickey to get into the boot. Still need to take them out for a longer walk in town and see how much attention they attract :-)

  21. Okay. But am gonna keep the 5" plus heels on the back burner for now. A couple of weeks anyway.

I suspect I've compounded the issue by recently starting training. Runs ,sprints and lots of walking etc in trainers.

    Cheers

I agree that training an already shortened muscle can overload it and cause pain and injury. You need to rest it a few days, keep stretching then re-introduce the training and heel wearing in small doses.

Maybe the old adage of "everything in small doses" applies here.

The other cause of your pain may be sciatica in the calf from a pinched nerve in the lower back. sounds less likely from your description, but you shouldn't rule it out.
