  1. Thank you for the kind comments and suggestions. Furniture polish? I'm a little nervous to try it... Yeah I agree that pointed toes would be better, but I don't see many such platforms. Here are a couple more pics, with some new tight pants, though they are not as tight as I had expected. They were also supposed to be black, but the online vendor sent charcoal instead... My "assistant" was looking to help in the 1st picture.

  2. New Shoes: Joan & David Flipp Platform Pumps (5" heel 1" platform) I got the slightly used at a size 10. I don't know if my feet are shrinking (11 used to be my go-to size), but even these are slightly big on me. However, there was a very pleasant surprise in that they aren't just patent black. They have a very pretty, iridescent blue/purple highlight, that didn't see until I looked at them in the sunlight. The only drawback is the right toe surface isn't as shiny as the left and I can't get any of my usual products to get it to match the left shoe. The fit feels very comfortable. I also like the classic shape, with the heel not being too far back. I prefer classic, flowing curves. I just wish I didn't have the gaps in the back. I apologize for the over-exposure. I tried lowering it, but was still losing some detail.

  3. I guess any exposure is good exposure, but I don't agree with the comments that 5" heels are "extremely uncomfortable" and that I hear nothing but complaints from women who "have" to strut to work with them on. I think we can agree that 5" heels will probably never be sneakers, but they certainly give me much better arch support than any of my men's shoes. Sure, there are 5" heels that are uncomfortable, but there are also flats that are uncomfortable. And my 5" heels are quite comfortable, thank you very much. :)

  4. I like the contrast of white socks with my black pumps (see pics). I frequently wear socks with heels or go barefoot. Sometimes it just depends on how cold it is. I never cared for hosiery.

Still, athletic socks and heels just don't sound like a natural match. I have some thin white socks that I sometimes use for pictures only.

  5. Steve Madden DEJAVU

6 inch heel, 2 inch platform, leather, Womens US Size 10

Great, thanks! They also have a nice video on the link. Unfortunately, 10's are normally too tight for me, unless they run large. That uncommon size, 10.5, usually works best for me and I'm glad Nine West makes the size.

Still, 10 might be worth a try with these!

  6. Thanks for the comments. Yeah, even at almost 6'2", it's nice to have the height boost. Still, I'm guessing that something is lost with heels and that I'm not almost 6'7" in them. I should figure out how much they actually add. Well, they are comfortable and good looking, so I guess that's what counts the most. :santa_hat:

  7. I'm not a fan of wedges, but somehow I really like those. Maybe it's just the way they accentuate your legs. Awesome legs BTW.

I think these wedges are better than most as the heel is elegantly shaped forward. Most wedges have almost straight and hence less elegant heels. When these are worn with long pants though, it looks like they are a size 5!

Thank you for your comments. I inherited my Mom's legs and feet, instead of my Dad's, thankfully. I'm almost 6'2" and wear size 10-11 Women's. Those old blue leggings aren't the best though. I like the new black ones (seen on a few photos I've posted of the other heels) much more.

My latest (for now - new ones coming tomorrow). Steve Madden - Leather - maybe the most comfortable pair of heels I own.

These are very nice looking platforms. Thanks for the pics! It makes me think I should invest in additional pairs such as these, especially if they are that comfortable! Which style are they and how high is the hidden platform? Looks like maybe 1.5" vs. the usual 1".

  8. Great pictures. Thank you for sharing! I like both sets. The ones in the fading sunlight are amazing, with the long shadows accentuating the heels. As for the second set, the evening light is great and I love the jeans & heels look, especially when the heels aren't hidden by ground-dragging pants (can't stand those). That jacket is perfect too. What a wonderful evening look! :pulsingheart:

  9. To complete the set of my recent purchases, here are a couple pics of my Nine West To The Flo 4.5" wedges.

Thank you for all the kind comments on the others. The platforms are getting the most wear right now. These wedges have the highest actual heel of the 3 (not considering the platform) so they are good trainers.

These wedges were the first of the 3 pairs that I bought after not wearing heels at all for quite a while. It took some time to re-adjust to the heels (especially going straight to 4.5"). However, I am wearing these and the platforms without getting the usual pain afterwards (after taking off the heels) that I would get in the past. For additional training, I have been wearing these wedges to bed most every night. Soreness has also been at a minimum, so perhaps there's something to be said for platforms, wedges and comfort!

  10. In general, I would say a single soled 4" pump is more elegant than 5" heels with a 1" platform, but the gap is closing for me. Now that I have platforms, I no longer find them to be that far behind. Attached is a pic of two recent purchases (both featured on the new shoes thread) for comparison. I'm wearing the platforms a lot more than the classic pumps right now.

  11. Here are some pics of the 2nd pair I bought. These are very classic looking Nine West Flax pumps. (yeah, Nine West is my favorite brand ;) ) The heels are just slightly under 4" measured (3.5" listed). These are only a size 10 (half size smaller than the ones above). There is a small gap at the heel, but this will likely close in time. They feel like a very good fit, otherwise. The only drawbacks are minimal arch support (I have very high arches as might be evident from the pics) and, after wearing 5" platforms and my 4.5" wedges (not yet uploaded here), 4" feels like flats!

  12. I haven't posted on HHP in a long time, but recently bought a few pairs of new heels.

For this post, I thought I would share some pics of my Nine West Fortonight 5" Platform pumps. They are the highest heels I've had in quite some time and the first real platforms I've tried. I didn't think I'd like platforms, but I was wrong. They are quite comfortable to wear and much easier to walk in that I had imagined.

They are a little long as you can see in some of the pics, but at least there is enough room for my toes! ;-)

My assistant (my cat) can be seen in one of the pics. He's always interested when I'm taking pics!

  13. Nine West comes through again. This time I picked up a pair of Austin pumps. With a rated heel of only 2.5" (just under 3" actual), I guess these are barely considered to be "high" around here, but I don't mind. They are still lovely and fit well, though with the usual gap in the back. I hope you don't mind if I share a few pictures. They have an extended point toe, which I thought had been going out of style. It's not generally my preference, but it certainly makes for comfy toes! Well as much as can be expected...

  14. I too really like the anime characters that wear heels as part of their outfits and some of the Japanese girls that cosplay the outfits are great. Here are some photos of what I think is the best sailor mars cosplay ever. Enjoy!

Wow, these are great, thanks! I especially like #2 & #4. I don't suppose you have any larger versions?

  15. I haven't uploaded anything on this thread in a while, so I thought I'd add a few new ones. A couple may be a bit risqué, for which I apologize. I endeavored to take scans of artwork which is generally more tasteful, but may not have succeeded in some respects. One of the images took 4 different scans and my skills at piecing them together leaves much to be desired.

  16. I picked up some new wedges on eBay: Circa Joan & David "Layne". They are a bit rigid which causes my smaller right foot to slip out easily (note the space in the back), but are pretty good looking I think. They have a square peep-toe as well, which may not be visible here.

  17. Attached is a picture of my Nine West Naughty flats. They are listed as black patent, but they didn't really shine until I used the Urad patent leather cleaner/polisher (Vernice - great product).

  18. I had some Coach wedges briefly and while they seemed true to size, they weren't comfortable at all. It was mostly due to the patent edge accents that ended up chafing my feet more than anything. Full patent may not have this problem. The lady that used to be in the office next door seemed to like the Coach brand and that's how I found out about it, from the brand name being printed on the wedge of one of her pairs. ...and yes, those are very nice looking.

  19. Flats are great and I tend to hang onto them a lot longer. I've blown a lot of money on heels that I haven't had more than 2 weeks. I like the pointed-toe flats, as they look more like pumps from the top, but w/o the "pain" of the heels.
