Hi, Does anyone know the widths (inches / cm) of shoe sizes, especially EU and US? I've found lots on length but nothing on width. Thanks

Thanks for that. A couple of site I haven't come across before. I particularly like the metal heels!

Hi, Does anyone know where you can get ultra-thin heels from? Thanks Wez

Hi, I'm interested in anyone's expereince of having boots altered (havng the leg 'slimmed' is on my list for my some boots for my wife - all the high street boots are too big). Has anyone found anywhere that does it? If so, roughly how much? Thanks Wez

Hi, Does anyone know of a good source in the UK for different colour polishes? (I mean proper polish, not coloured cream) I would like to get a pale pink polish but it is not exactly common! Ta

Hmmmm, east London is not that close, but thanks anyway. I wasn't thinking of anything too 'outlandish', 4 1/2" heels (maybe metal), with a cross-over ankle strap and a long pointed toe, open sides, something along the lines of Bod Weave Ankle strap shoes the Schuh recently had. (Don't worry, she's got a pair of those already, )

Hi, Has anyone experience of designing their own shoes / boots and getting them made? If so, any advice on design, where to get them made, etc. I'm thinking of having something special made for an anniversary.

I thought the toothpaste was a bit kinky as well. I must have a secret crush thing going on that I wasn't aware of (as if heels weren't enough!).

For those of you who live in the UK, does anyone else find the posters for the big price squeeze at Superdrug slightly arousing?
Not quite the same effect as when the poster is a big as you!

It would be a case of making them tighter around the leg, especially at the top. Most boots seem to be about 14" circumference around the knee, my wife is about 12", enough of a difference to have the welly effect!

This may sound an odd question, but can boots be altered?

As the summer seems to have finished early in Britain, thoughts start turning again to winter high heel boots. Last year my wife couldn't find a decent fitting pair of leather boots - they we all too baggy around the leg, apparently, via an e-mail conversation with bronx, that was the 'style', though I can't say either of us found it very stylish. She does very well with the stretch type boots, especially from Schuh. So, ladies, opinions and views would be much sort after for places to get good fitting boots or ways of modifying boots to fit around the leg.

Jay,
They're called Stampede, http://www.faith.co.uk/catalogue/style.asp?range=s&style=899900&CurPage=1&strSearch=stampede and she loves them (and so do I!)

Thanks for the tips. The official pads I've seen have been a bit chunky and too tyre like (as my wife pointed out, not very attractice when you've got your legs crossed have huge grips showing off), is there a material that can be just stuck on that provides a bit more grip? ANy ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi, Does anyone know where you can get non-slip pad type things (very descriptive!) to stick on the soles of shoes to reduce slipping in the UK? My wife has got a fantastic pair of stiletto Faith boots, but the soles are very slippery so she could do with something to add a bit more grip.

On the subject of stretchers - how much difference do shoe trees make to keeping high heels looking good? The long point toe courts which we have tend to get creases in them half way down the toe box, has anyone any good tips for reducing these creases? I'd imagine some of the shoe trees would help, but anyone's experiences would be useful.

The best I've managed to come up with so far is:

I'm with deafty here, where can I get some pairs (or ones like them( in the UK for my wife! Maybe an Italian holiday is in order....

My significant other & I love ultra pointed high heels, and although there are a lot of them about at the moment in the UK (esp Faith, she already has two pairs from me!) I would really like to know where else we can get them, esp leather ones with a heel above 3".

Hi, My wife really wants to wear some of the fashionable high pointy courts that are available at the moment, some of the shoes in Faith being a particular favourite (I'd love to see her in some too). However she only has diddy size 4 feet and so the pressure on the soles of her feet, especially the ball joint, can be quite uncomfortable. She does wear heels, so were after something that will help a bit. Has anyone ever used insoles or similar? Which would you receomend? How well do they fit?

I have e-mailed them - waiting for response. Of course it may just be down to web desisgn, perhaps all the sites with leatherworks shoes on are limiting themselves to a few options rather than the whole range. On the other hand, adding extra colour option can't be that difficult, if you've got 4 in the list, why not 14?

Has anyone else got annoyed with the fact that although some shoes advertised in the US are made in the UK, the ones in the US have more variety?
For instance, I'm a particular fan of the Imagine / Leatherworks K516A, at bad influence (http://www.bad-influence.com/store/default.tpl?action=full&cart=32602512021499796&--eqskudatarq=IMK516A), I can choose from loads of colours (burgundy patent sounds good), but I can't find such options available in the UK!
I am supposed to order them there, have them sent out to the US and back again!
:x

You should have put a "prime minister" option in there too. How do you classify as "Other"? TV? CD? TG?
All of them? Just wanted to give people another option from the the bi-polar biological choice.

Here comes the science bit......... The pair of shoes I used have the following stats needed for the calculations: overall length of sole 25cm, the arch (sole not on the ground) is 14cm, the heel height is 10cm. The arch is not straight, but I have measured the curve length, so all my figures are based on the assumption that larger sizes will have the same curve. So, with these figures the angle of the arch to the ground is: sinx=10/14, or x=sin!-1 10/14 or 45.58 degrees. From some table the extra length a size up add is as follows: Size 5 +0.5cm 6 +1.5 7 +2.5 8 +3.5 9 +4.5 Assuming that this increase in length is distributed in the same proportion as the size 4 1/2 shoe, it increase the H in the sin equation. For size 5: sinx=10/(14+(14/25*0.5)) or sin!-1(10/(14+(14/25*0.5))) = 44.4 degrees. and so on to find how the angle decreases as the shoe gets larger. To find out the heel height needed to keep the same angle, then the following needs to be used: For size 5, sin 45.58 = x/(14+(14/25*0.5)) or x=(14+(14/25*0.5))sin 45.58 or a height of 10.2 cm. As the big size increase occurs at size 7 to 8, that's where the most difference is in angle / or heel height. As to other heel heights - the same formulas could apply, but I'd imagine with the very high heels it starts to fail as the arch is so curved and the foot fits in it differently. :morning:

They look quote useful, any way we can get them to the UK? I remember some pair I saw once that had completely adjustable straps.
