I live in Ottawa, Ontario, a four and one-half hour drive from Toronto, but we visit relatives in the Toronto area every few months. I may be able to take a swing by that address the next time we're in the area. The address appears to be residential, but I know there are commercial buildings in that area as well.

Seems to me that fashion design (not just shoes but all clothing) is going through a phase in which there is no apparent goal or direction, other than the urge to do something very different, even if the result is horribly ugly.

Does anyone now make or sell western boots with a proper heel (i.e.- 2 or more inches high) now that WesternRanch is out of business? I've looked at a lot of ads for cowboy boots on the net, and all I see are boots with underslung heels that are only one to one and half inches high. Bah!

Sorry, whenever I see photos like that, my first thought is that the wearer needs to pose that way because she/he can't walk or even stand upright in the boots or shoes.

I like the western style. Can you tell us where those are from?

I noted the earlier posts in this thread (Laurie and Slim) about crouching (squatting), with or without heels. I didn't realize it was normal for many people to be able to crouch with their feet flat on the floor. I've noted that when my wife crouches, even barefoot, her feet are flat on the floor. Like Slim, I can't even come close. I just tried it again in shoes with heels. And guess what - I still can't do it! Even wearing 4" heels, my heels are still nearly an inch off the floor when I crouch. I guess some of us are just constructed differently.

These aren't much different from the ones above:
For the past couple of months I've been wearing them almost everywhere (except the office) and no one pays any attention.
This pair has a rubber heel that avoids slipping on wet surfaces as well as snow or ice. They are also very quiet and don't draw attention.
