  1. I have never had a weight problem and now at 82 years I am 1.65m tall, having shrunk as I got older and weigh 59kilos which is on the slim side. Fifteen years ago I was !.70 and 60kilos which was slim. I need my heels to reach the top shelves in the supermarket!!

  2. Just come back from a few weeks in Madeira in my 3" block heel boots. Outbound at Gatwick I was seated while they scanned the boots but at Madeira they took no notice at all ! And there were no comments or, indeed, strange looks on the entire trip!

  3. Got my PPL in 1974 and enjoyed 1600 hours touring Europe in a DR400. Jodel 117 and a Cessna 150. Still have a licence but have not done much since one of my partners wrote off the Cessna trying to do a downwind landing on a wet grass strip. Never flew in heels, they might have made the rudder difficult Other interests, opera, ballet and concerts and going to France for the food and wine!!

  4. Nina I have sold several items on ebay without any problems, but after your unfortunate experience I think I will add to my descriptions a requirement to pay within seven days. I have noticed that many business users do this. If a buyer did not pay I would then relist. There are "free listing" weekends [this is one] if you want to avoid a fee! Incidentally, I bought the boots in my avtar on ebay, for £5.00 !!

  5. I got my first kilt about 18 months ago and enjoyed wearing it so much that I now have both heavyweight and lightweight kilts, and leather and poly-cotton skirts, all of which show off my heels rather well. I hardly ever wear trousers now, but I did to visit my female dentist last week! As JeffB says, wearing skirts and kilts is fun and exciting and it makes me, too, feel great!

  6. I am surprised and flattered by the number of "thank you's" to my post. I was encouraged by reading about the exploits of others on this forum and by a lady friend who thinks I look "fab" in boots and skirt! I have always attributed my skinny frame to wartime food rationing. Once you get used to eating small meals I guess it becomes a habit. Thanks, Dawn for your comments on 3" heels. They are about my limit now although I totter around in 4" at home just for fun. If I am walking long distances I reduce to 2" or 2.5" which I find comfortable. And Happy Feat is right about the South of France. It has everything, sea, mountains and good food and wine. Perhaps the nearest the US gets to it is the Southern Californian coast [but LA no way!!] which I have enjoyed a few times!

  7. I have just completed a 777 mile trip to the South of France in heels and a skirt. My doc says that he does not want me driving 400 miles in a day so I spread the journey over three days. Although I was in the car for much of the time I crossed the channel by ferry, stopped at restaurants for lunch, at filling stations, at rest areas and at hotels for overnight stays. The only reaction I noticed was a haughty stare from a portly lady on the ferry car deck. Maybe she was jealous of my size 10 skirt! The boots have 3 inch block heels, the fairly slim skirt is knee length topped by a wide chunky belt. They are all in black leather from "Next" and, I think, not particularly feminine. This may explain their acceptance. Certainly, I have never driven in such comfort. I have worn a kilt on occasions but the pleats get bunched up at the back and creased when seated for long periods. And in the wind the kilt sometimes does a "Mary Popins"! So a skirt, with boots, must be the "Magic" way to go!

  8. The learned Dr is right. I live by the sea but I do not own any sandals. I wore boots last summer in France when it was 30C [85F for the colonials] and was quite comfortable. I was wearing a kilt or skirt. I think it would have been less comfortable in trousers.

  9. Tech The part of me above my belt is my chest!! As you can see, the shirt is fairly loose fitting and it was flapping in the breeze!

Dr. Shoe Thank you for your more gracious response!! I am not wearing a waist cincher although the belt was described thus when I bought it on eBay. It did not stop me enjoying a large lunch after I took the photo. I guess I am just skinny around the middle!

  10. I agree with Newfie, his sweater is not "seriously loud" and red and black is a good combination. I have been wearing red shirts and sweaters for years, certainly since my ski-ing days long ago when red was regarded as a safety precaution and teamed with black ski-pants very well.

  11. Yes, I think it has and will continue to become more tolerant. Horizons have been extended by easy [with a small e!] jet travel and cultures are becoming more mixed, certainly here in Europe. Things have come a long way since the Nation was startled by seeing the Princess Elizabeth in trousers as part of her wartime uniform!!

I like the skirt with side vents, I prefer the darker shade. It shows off the boots rather well and, I imagine, will be more comfortable for walking and driving. I would suggest a wide "cowboy" belt to go with the denim. Black tooled leather would be my choice to match the boots.

I am typing this wearing a slim knee length black leather skirt. Sadly the weather is a bit cool to venture out in it!

  13. I agree with Bubba. For a man to look convincingly female he needs to have the right figure, clothes and feminine adornments, with appropriate make up and hair-do or a fashionable wig. Even then it is probably best reserved for parties or occasions like my local pub's recent "Ladies Night" when men were only admitted dressed as women! I must have been reasonably convincing to win a bottle of whisky as the best looking "woman" !!

Jolly good effort, that flight must have taken some courage! I flew from Gatwick to Madeira and back last winter in my boots [only 2.5 inch heels] but cheated by wearing my long kaftan [pictured earlier] and did not even have to remove my boots! I endorse what you say about the comfort of a skirt particularly when sitting for long periods in an aircraft or car. They are kinder to what one friend of mine calls his "family jewels"!
