  1. A while ago, I went to my local department store wearing heels and pantihose.  I needed to buy a more hose.  I picked up what I wanted and proceeded to the cashier.  As I approached, she asked if I found my size and color.  I asked, how did you know they were for me?  She said I can see that you are wearing nylons.  I asked how do you like my heels?  "OMG, I did not notice you were wearing heels." I was wearing 5" Jessica Simpson in beige.

She notice my stockings because she worked in that department but never noticed my heels.

  2. Hello All.  Just wanted to give an update.  First surgery was 5/3/2022.  It was enlarging the nerve paths to the legs.  Two days later the disk actually collapsed.  This increased the pain level.  Second surgery was 5/18.  They inserted devices starting at the pelvis and up the spine to just below waist level.  Then wrapped the spine in a type of plastic/nylon/silicon/? mesh and screwed everything in place. Today was my post-op visit to have 29 staples removed and meeting with the surgeon.  One of his most difficult procedures.

In just 2 weeks; I am walking without support devices and almost normal.  Surgery was described as a success.  I have not tried HEELS yet and probably won't for at least a few months.  98% of the leg pain is gone at this time.  Still have surgical site pain but that is expected to go away as the healing progresses.

Thank You all for your good wishes.  Will let you all know when I put on my Jessica Simpson heels.

  3. As you all know, I have been having issues lately and have curtailed heel wearing.  Well, I got the sad news yesterday.  My disc fusion from 2017 is losing it's effect and the other discs are suffering.

Reader's Digest version is I am going under the knife next Wednesday for extensive repair.  I will be placed into a spinal cage for at least 5 vertebrae.  I don't know what recovery will be or how long.  I will be living my heeling life thru your comments.   I will keep the Group posted.

For now I will continue to read the various posts.

If you think of it from the perspective of the other variable, any given model of shoe/boots should increase in heel height as the size gets larger, in order to maintain the same look. Pictured below is a great example of this. On the left is a size 6 (U.S.) Michael Kors "Oksana" sandal. If memory serves, it has a heel height around 4 3/4 inches, with a 1 inch platform. On the right, the same model in size 9. Heel height is 5 1/2 inches. The owner of the size 6 shoes often wears pumps in the 4 inch range (no platform), and in her size, 4 inch heels look about right to me. In my size, 4 inch seems a little short of the mark.

While I do like the style choices offered to me when it comes to heels, I have to have a certain amount of elevation, or it seems to be missing something. Everybody is different.

I have those Michael Kors.  Love them.

One of these days, I'll have to put all of my similarly colored shoes on a table and take a picture of them, and we can have fun deciding what to call them all. None of them are quite the same color, even though it seems like they ought to be.

This is also my first time wearing a suit, albeit sans necktie, without any kind of hosiery. The reason for this was simple: I do not have any socks thin enough for these shoes (I usually wear trouser socks) that are not black or brown, and I figured that would look terrible, so I went bare.

Always wear nude hose with pumps !

Along those lines, I think the photo below is about as high as you can go and still not be sort of fetishy looking. There are certain makers who seem to be able to add a centimeter or two to this and get by with it, but it doesn't much matter, because hardly anybody can walk in them anyway. I wonder how many Christian Louboutin Hot Chicks et al. actually get worn, versus how many are simply admired in the display case.

The past few days, while out traveling I had occasion to visit the official "Center of the World."  It is an interesting, and little known "monument" in the small town of Felicity, California (population 2) in the desert west of Yuma, Arizona.  The location has actually been proclaimed the Center of the World by resolution of the Imperial County Supervisors as well as the Government of France.  It was still warm in the desert - 90 degrees - and I was the only person visiting on this day.

As I wandered around looking at the displays and imagining the dedication, research, planning and cost that went into this project I was approached by a caretaker, she and her husband built the place.  She was very friendly and informative and gave me a mini tour even tho the place was still closed for the summer - they "officially" open on December 1st.

We spent about 20 minutes together and when we parted, she said with a smile , "I really like your shoes."  I was wearing my kitten heels sandals (see attachment), a pair that I have had for a while and really enjoy wearing.  She asked if they were comfortable - they are - and asked if I wear them all the time.  I told her that I am one of "those" guys who like gals shoes and enjoy wearing heels.  She said that she also likes heels, but has never seen a guy in heels but can fully understand why I would enjoy wearing them.

I told her that wearing gals shoes is something I have done for years, it is just a choice that I have made in my life.  She told me that I looked great and we all should do what makes us happy in this short time on earth, the Center of the World included.

A link to the place is below if anyone is interested.

I should have gotten comments last night at the farmer's market. I didn't. Maybe it's because there are a lot of people walking around who look way more interesting than me. But it was kind of a slow night, so maybe that has something to do with it. It was also unusually hot for the middle of September, so I continued my usual habit of wearing shorts. I chose my pink Loft shorts, which are slightly dressy, if that is even possible with 3" inseam shorts, but it's the term I like to use, to differentiate them from denim cutoffs. A very light blue collared t-shirt with a graphic pattern on it and my Bruno Magli "Kira" wedge sandals completed my outfit.

I was complaining that I was out of practice wearing actual high heels the other day, so I decided to kick it up another notch and wear the shoes pictured below. They are nearly 4 inch heels (3 7/8", to be exact) with no platform, and maybe this causes them to look less than impressive on, but they are definitely steeper than what I've been wearing all summer. I dumped some money into these sandals by having sole protectors put on, as I figure the ridiculously thin leather soles wouldn't last half an hour in the real world. I don't know why so many designer shoes do that to you. It's almost like adding insult to injury at the prices they want.

This market basically requires you to be on your feet for 5 hours. The first 4 hours were just fine. The last hour was.  .  . how shall I put it.  .  . a very sensory experience. I won't say painful, that's really not the right word, but it wasn't exactly comfortable either. I told you I'm out of practice! Now, the next morning, it appears that I got by with it, I can feel no ill effects.

  10. Guys,  I have to get a pedi once a month as I have had spinal surgery and cannot get down there to take care of nails.  Also diabetes has done a number on both finger and toe nails.  My natural nail are very soft and bend like skin.  My nail teck has suggested getting a DIP done to my finger nails.  That works for me and lasts about 3 weeks before they start breaking.  Just a suggestion.

The equipment was de-energized. Although somebody did have to wear the arc flash suit to check with a voltage meter to make sure it WAS, in fact, de-energized. Newer best practices basically don't let us work on anything energized anymore.

Yes, we followed proper lockout/tagout procedures, which in that place is a little more complicated than it sounds. It's a pain in the neck, but I do not miss the days when we were expected to work everything live. Some of the rules are silly, but you'll have that on these big jobs.

    Glad all are working SAFE.

This goes without saying, but the bib overalls I wear to work barely resemble anything worn by women for fashion, hence my "looking over my glasses" comment. If I were to ever wear overalls with heels, and that's a big "if," they would certainly be tailored in such a way that would most likely make them unsuitable for actual work. I really don't have a good picture of me wearing my work clothing, but this will have to do. Everything is generously cut. In case there is any doubt, I am the guy in the middle in the lime green shirt. We were cutting over a panel to permanent power, and were under time constraints. In other words, pressure. I have no idea who snapped this picture, but I have to thank them, because it's one of the few I have showing what I do for a living. Usually, it's not nearly this dramatic, however.

Howdy folks, it's been pretty quiet around here lately. The only really cool thing that I've done lately is participate in an online hymn sing at our church, which has been re-closed until at least Aug. 30. The choir director and I took turns leading the singing and providing accompaniment, and I actually got to play the organ this time! I wore the salmon colored shirt for the video, but I wore organ shoes instead of the pumps pictured here. I still can't walk in those suckers, in case you're wondering. I put them on to model them for a fashionista friend who can't wear heels anymore due to an unfortunate combination of health issues.

The other outfit came about sort of accidentally. My wife had bought my 11 year old several t-shirts, because of course, he's a growing boy, and you have to do that every so often. She overestimated his size by quite a bit, however, and so I wound up with them. They're crappy t-shirts, but my immediate thought with the yellow one was, "I bet that would go with my DvF wedges pretty well." And it does.

A further thought about my fashionista friend. I know her from college days, and I remember she used to have these black suede pumps that she wore fairly regularly. Well, not regularly like what we do here, things was different back in them days, but that's sort of my whole point. To me, at the time, these suede pumps were shockingly tall, and they absolutely were, compared to what most girls were wearing at the time. They were every bit of 3 1/2 inches. I think sometimes we remember the past differently than it really was.

The Pumps look good on you.  Practice and you will be able to make them part of your daily wear.

Posting 3 of my newest pairs, as I'm bored & have no reason to wear them out yet. 1st pair are some black strappy rhinestone sandals from OnlyMaker. Just a tad bit oversize but they are wearable & feel nice to walk in (no idea where I'm going to wear them, but I had to have them). 2nd pair I ordered from ItalianHeels.com. The leather is so soft, like butter. I love how dainty they look on my feet. Bit tall to walk in, but I will make it work. I am looking for my 2nd pair from them, just a tad bit shorter of a heel this time. Last pair (picture was blurry, thats not the way the heels look!) are some slight platform black pumps with a quilted pattern from BCBGeneration. Bought them from a lady on Poshmark. Was buying a nice looking pantsuit from her when I saw these in her other items for sale column. Bought them as well. I think they make for a striking look when paired with a pantsuit. Wore them out a couple of times & they feel great, gonna make them part of my regular rotation. Cant wait for things to open up completely so I can get some longer jaunts in...

Nice Pedicure also.  Enjoy the heels and keep us posted.

  15. Congratulations.  Between June of 2016 thru October 2018; I traveled weekly by air every Monday and rturn on Friday.  Always in 4" or 5" pumps.  During that time frame I taveled to Houston TX,  Los Angeles and Toronto.  Less than 5 negative comments during those years.  Being over 75 years old, it is not necessary to remove shoes when going thru TSA but becasue of high heels I took them off showing off my feet.
