  1. Firstly, not sure if this is correct section of the forum to ask this, so apologies mods if it is not. I am off to NY soon and would like to purchase a new pair of boots for myself. *Hoping to grab an end of season bargain*. I take a 41 or 41.5 in EU sizes (ladies) and am looking online for a US conversion for these sizes. I am finding conflicting information online and am hoping some of the members from the US can clear this up for me. I am not one for trying boots on in shops, not brave enough here in Ireland let alone in a city like NY! I will take them back to my hotel, try them on there and bring them back if I need to change them.

  2. Astrid - I love the boots in your Avatar, they are the best looking pair of boots I have seen in ages - the really pointed toe looks great!

Do they have a high heel?? - are they lined with leather like the Jimmy Choos???

I would love to see a few more pictures of them please??

Thanks for the compliment. Unfortunately I don't have them anymore, due to wear and tear, so I replaced them with the ones below.

  3. Astrid - thanks for the pictures, your boots look amazing.

Are those Jimmy Choo boots in your profile picture????

Do you get to wear them much??

I got the Orchid 42's from London!

I wish my feet were smaller and narrower.

No, the avatar boots are from Oasis and cost me about €40. I wear my Choo boots a fair bit. I don't wear heels outside but wear each pair once a week at least indoors.

  4. Sorry to hear that the boots didn't fit. Bad thing about Jimmy Choo is that the foot is a narrow fit. Anyway, I have attached some pics of my Jimmy Choos. The first 3 are the Isadora boots that I bought last year and the 4th a pair that I got a few years ago. Both are fantastic.

  5. Hello - as you can see I am new to this forum!

I am hoping someone may be able to offer me some advice regarding how Jimmy Choo boots size??

I take a 9 / 42 in Aldo and Faith boots - they fit me nicely.

I am looking to buy / invest in a pair of Jimmy Choo Orchid knee high boots, also in a 9 / 42.

Does anyone have experience of Jimmy Choo sizing? - is thier 42 comparable to Aldo etc??

I am hoping that JC 42 is 'true to size' so I can treat myself to the boots as an early x-mas present.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    :)

Hi, I have 2 pairs of Jimmy Choo boots. One pair are a few years old but I bought a pair of Isadora boots last winter.

    Isadora

I take a 41 myself and find the same size in a Jimmy Choo boot to be a fine fit but I do have narrow (girly-like) feet. If you have any width in your foot, I would go a half size bigger.

  6. I have had these boots for a few years now and I absolutely love them. They are Jimmy Choo and were expensive. Anyway, I noticed last night that the heel on the left boot is bent towards the toe, slightly. I can still walk in them without a problem but want to repair them to 100%, if possible.

I have attached the pictures below to give people and idea of the damage.

  7. Im off to Budapest in January for a few nights. Prices there are a lot lower than Ireland or England where I usually shop, so I want to take the opportunity to invest in some new boots. Anybody, know of any shops in the city worth visiting or have any non-heel related must does.

  8. Astrid,

Based on your experience, is the stuff we are likely to find on the web going to work or does one really need to consult a professional?

Honestly, I would think that you would need a few sessions with a professional to really get the best out of it. The web will give you plenty of info but the training you would get from a professional would be a million times better.

  9. I used hypnosis everyday when I used to compete as part of my sports psychology and it worked really well. I went to a professional for about 4 sessions and he thought me how to perform it on myself and also about triggers and other aspects of hypnosis. It really is very powerful. For example, I started wearing heels in my early 20s. At the very start, I went through a phase of it "not being right" and "must give this up", so I used to have not wearing or buying heels as part of my nightly session. I visualized walking by my favourite shoe shop and not feeling any desire to go in and buy heels. I actually stopped wearing and buying heels for about 6-7 months until I stopped using hypnosis. One week after stopping, I went into my local shop and bought a new pair of boots.

  10. So sorry to hear this. I HOPE that this is the exception rather then the norm.

Soho has always had its' seedier side (it's World famous for it....), however it is also one of the friendliest and most colourful parts of London......at least - it always used to be. I haven't been there for a while.

I'm sorry that you had this unsettling experience - I have always felt perfectly safe in London, and Soho.....but then, there always used to be plenty of 'Bobbies on the Beat' on the streets of London too.

    Was this daytime or nighttime?

This was at 11am in the morning. As I said, I visit London an awful lot and really love the city and feel perfectly safe everywhere else. Strangley enough, I dont remember seeing any police out on the beat that morning. That was the only occassion that I ever visited Soho myself. A few friends were over with me and wanted to see what it was like. We dont really have any equivalent to Soho in Dublin.

They had forgotten about the incident in no time and went on to have a brilliant weekend. Just posting it as a point of caution for the original poster.

  11. Soho, although a world renounded fetish / gay / alternative centre, tends to be a bit of a rip off. Lots of cheap stuff sold at top notch prices. Generally small shops so don't have huge stock, so again, size 43 choices will be very limited.

Watch your back in Soho. Its the only place in central London where I feel uneasy. Last time we were there, we were approached by a guy who asked if we wanted to see Swedish girls. We said no straight away but he kept at us and followed us all the way back to Tottenham Court road tube station and was on his mobile to someone all the time.

Dont let that put you off though, London is a brilliant city, definitely in my top 3.

  12. I was utterly hooked from start to finish - and I came away from the programme thinking that actually, not all youngsters these days what to take drugs, get drunk or wage war on the streets with each other. That goes for BOTH sets of teenagers - Amish and European.

It was thoroughly riveting and uplifting viewing - and I can‘t wait for next week‘s programme.

Ditto for me. I think the males in the Amish group might go off the rails next week, as clips of them drinking and smoking were shown previewing the next episode.

    It is refreshingly interesting viewing.

  13. The sad thing is many little girls look up to the Brittney's, the Lindsey's, and the Miley's of the entertainment industry. And especially these three I mentioned don't care about the image they're portraying. They are just worried about their next performance and CD deal.

That's true. I leave near a club that does teenage disco's. The girls attending dress exactly like them. They are not afraid to come up to you and ask you to buy alcohol for them, which is another issue altogether. Dont worry, Miley will crash and burn just like Britney and Lindsey. I saw Miley on irish tv last year and she didnt come accross too well.

Lady Gaga bugs me as well. She was beyond annoying on Jonathan Ross (BBC programme).

  14. On respecting culture, personally I believe one should

"do as the Romans do" and if I ever had the opportunity to visit such a community I would dress fairly conservatively.

Totally agree Amanda. I have a massive fondness for the amish community, from what I have seen and read about them. I would love to visit one of their communities. There is something very unique and special about them. A beautifully gentle community.

I am well travelled and always respect the cultures and tradition of the lands I visit. When I visit a muslim country, I always make sure to cover my arms and legs for example, no matter how hot it is. The females who travel with us cover up well and I find that the locals warm to you if you do.

We went to Tehran in 2001 and covered up and the locals really warmed to us and ended up inviting us into their homes and giving us alcohol, which is actually illegal. It was one of the best holidays ever.

  15. Do we really need to make this a competition between the genders..?

Thank you for posting this M-a. There seems to be an undertone of male/female competition on this site which I personally dont understand. I didnt vote myself because the question was pointless given that we are posting on a site for men and women who wear heels.

For me, this site is a friendly oasis, on which I can discuss or seek advide regarding heels with like-minded men and women. We are all here because of our passion for wearing heels. Leave the sniping and bikering for the real world. There are plenty out there who will take care of that aspect for us. I fail to see why we shouldnt be united on this site.

  16. One small good news story from Faith closing down. A branch not far from me is opening up again through the initiative of former staff - rebranded it "Hope", which I thought was nice.

    Have a look here:

    http://store.hopefootwear.co.uk/

That is good news. Will wait to see what they offer. I bought from Faith on plenty of occassions and liked what I got. I wasnt too keen on their latest range but I feel the same towards Office etc. The boots in my avatar are from Faith. That pic is a few years old though.

  17. This type of thing is very common. It shows real insecurity on behalf of the new boyfriend. The same guy will mock people who are not "normal". I always feel that people with this type of mindset have something to hide. On a side note, my female friends love this in a guy. The look on it as a challenge to change him. Its like getting a guy who is known for cheating and turning him into a loyal non-cheating boyfriend.
