  1. Interesting article.  The best advice I can offer is... Don't Pass Up A Good Quality Pair of Larger Size Shoes or Boots When They Are Available.

The manufacturers will only continue to make them if we continue to buy them.  You can rest assured that there will always be demand for the larger sizes and if you want to swap them later with someone else on this site I'm sure there will be someone who will want them.  I always buy the more expensive leather soled offerings when I see that they are available.  Sometimes they are not available for long, either, so don't wait too long.  I just found out that two different pairs of boots that I wanted (high quality, leather soled, with cushioned insoles) are no longer available, probably as of the end of last year.  That was quite a let down (I just found out today).

  2. Various tall, soft boots with a western styled foot. Either zip up or pull on. Perfect example of what I want is the Torito Barbados Quersia boot from Sendra. Like this one:

Or the Frye Elizabeth Criss Cross boot like this one with the criss crossed straps.

All I'm really looking for is more taller boots for men, some zippered and some pull on, and maybe with a buckle or something at the ankle. Nothing special. But they're hard to find.

Which leads me to the question: if I convinced a few manufacturers to make them more available, would you be "on board" to buy them? They're not cheap, but the only way that manufacturers will make them is if we buy them.

  3. I've written to two or three companies to make more of the taller boots available for men, and/or make more styles and sizes available. I measure success entirely in terms of communication with designers and manufacturers, and the availability and purchase of decent footwear.

  4. Yes, I would definitely pay a little more if that is what it took to make more sizes and higher quality available to all of us. The availability of high quality, stylish, wearable footwear is always a problem. I'm hoping that higher-quality brands will make more available in larger sizes and I'd be willing to pay for it. Something stylish, more high quality looking, and wearable in typical situations.

  5. I think it's a lot simpler than that. When a woman wears high heels, she tends to be more dressed up, more made up. It's sort of accepted that heels are dressier. And I've always thought that women looked really sexy when dressed up. So every time that I hear a pair of women's stiletto heels go "tap, tap, tap..." down the hallway, I think "wow...she must be hot." ...And I'm never let down. :w00t2:

  6. Jezzaboots, "many thanks" for contacting a store or manufacturer and giving your comments on trying to find decent footwear that you like, in your size. The only way that we'll get suppliers to change is if we let them know what we are looking for. I'm amazed that it always has to be some sort of "endeavour" to find a nice pair of wearable dress boots that we can wear. My tastes are pretty simple. I'm looking for a pair of tall, soft, dress riding-style boots with or without a zipper, that can be worn by men, and look tasteful. 1.5" block or cowboy heel. Some perfect examples would be like these: Cordani "Jared" boot Corso Como "Sasha" boot Jones Bootmaker "Saxon" boot Geox "Ascot" boot The Findthatshoe "Cilla" boot, if you want a little bit more of a heel. And if they had a pointed toe, even better. I think if a manufacturer made more of these in larger sizes they'd sell quite a few.

  7. That is a nice site. I like their block heeled boots called "Cilla."

I recently came across the Jones Bootmaker website and found a similar pair of boots called Saxon that I like A LOT (and several other similar pairs), but unfortunately it is not available in my size and I'm really, really tempted to request them to offer it in larger sizes or I'll go to another site and request a similar style.

  8. My response is ... "don't even let yourself be bothered with what they say." If you respond with any kind of anger, you just give them what they want. In this case, the subject is footware, but if it was pottery or sewing ...would the response be any different? Probably not. Life is too short to let other people get you down. Just tell them that you are going to be who you are, and that a mature person would let it go. And that's that.

  9. Just a simple, very sleek pair of cowboy boots that are made of very soft leather like a woman's boots, and with a knee high zippered shaft, with a leather lining, with a regular, ordinary 1.5-2.0" cowboy heel. -- Otherwise identical to a typical mens pair. That's it. And its AMAZINGLY and FRUSTRATINGLY difficult to find a pair like this with any regular consistency.

  10. I think society is becoming more tolerant of ...everything, really. I see it everywhere. There are more mixed-race couples, less concern about "looking your age," etc. Less concern about whether or not you wear the standard "navy blue suit and white shirt" to work. And it will probably continue in this direction for a while.

  11. Having worked in loud environments before, I'm going to have to say "Hell" due to the potential to ruin your ears. It's only heaven if you like that particular music, and if you can control the length of time that you are exposed.

  12. I think the first time that I really became aware of the allure of a woman wearing heels was when my first grade teacher wore high heeled boots with her outfits, and she wore them often. She would also wear them with a woman's trench coat styled rain coat. She was a confident woman. And even at a young age, I could tell that she was dressed in a "chic" jet-setter sort of way. And thus began the attraction....

  13. Most women that I know like "Take Charge" sort of men, regardless of whether they are gentlemen or "bad boys." It's the leadership that they are attracted to. And while they may have an initial attraction to someone who dresses well, it's still that sense of leadership that they like. That partly explains the very average looking guys who sometimes "win the girl."
