  1. I travelled my Seychelles today dressed totally in black apart from the brilliant white shoes. The fun bit was in the exec. lounge waiting for 2 hours for a connecting flight. Got some really good stares from the "suits" especially as I had white lace kneehighs on. No problem with swelling anymore than if I was wearing a "normal" shoe.

  2. Bootcut jeans will work every time. If you are still adventuring then something like a 34" or 36" will do. (Un)fortunately the best fit are womens jeans but you will soon get addicted because of the stretch quality the are much more comfortable that the standard mens jeans.

  3. As a "European" I have found that I can trust US sizing a lot more than than I can UK or EU sizes. If a US shop has doubts about a EU shoe they generally state the EU size along side the US size. The exceptions so far I've found are Lamb, Bronx and JoLo.

  4. Phycological injury! Its amazing how 2" heels can lure you into a false sense of security. Wearing only 2" boots with plastic heels shopping in Tescos on a tiled floor. Did a quick turn, lost it totally and ended spreadeagled on the floor with shopping trolly speeding down the aile in the original direction. I was waiting for the usual comments from the assistant "How can you walk in those?" the answer would have been "I can't!""

  5. I am looking longingly at these. I don't know about Baby Phat sizing and I don't know where I'd wear them but I love them. At $120 would I stand a chance in a boot competition if I bought them? Your opinions will help to make up my mind.

  6. Strangley I always embarass myself in lower heels. High heels greater than 3" I take a lot of care how I walk, but I've fallen in 2" and less on marble floors twice because the complacent feeling that I'm safe and that I'm still reying on the heel first when turning.

  7. Do I enjoy when a womam feels pain from wearing heels? No I don't think so. Do I respect someone who feels pain from wearing heels? Yes as long as she/he does it at a life choice and doesn't do permanent damage. Pata, surely to achieve what you have done it must have incurred some pain or discomfort? As anyone striving to achieve a physical pinnical it involves pain, dedication and motivation. What was your motivation?

  8. scitex104 I'm seriously interested. The sexiest and may I say "erotic" shoes I ever had was a mule put pressure under the arch and I've never experienced another shoe like it, unfortunatlety the heel broke. Do you have a URL? But I agree a good support under the heel will reduce the pressure on the toes.

  9. Mmmmm... I would love to say height but two things force me to say style: There are occasions in public where height would be inapropiate. So lower heels and a style to suit the occasian. Unfortunately being > 100kg (I'm dieting OK!!) I would destroy a stilletoe heels in 2 hours and metal heels are too dangerous on marble tiles in shopping malls

  10. I always remove my heels during the flight and put them back on once the doors are opened. Its part of the fun to be the last out negotiating the steps and I've still got to wait for the baggage. Here's a thought. In an emergency, if forced to use the slide would you be clutching your stilletoes to your bosom as you jumped or insist on your rights as a heel wearing man and risk a loud "popping" sound? :-)

  11. I have the same problem, either the toe box is too tight or my little toe joint distorts the shape of the shoe. Size 12 or UK 9 is too insecure.

My mentor, Firefox (god bless him), commanded " buy only leather" and use a shoe stretcher and streching spray. I even made one of his designs.

I'm using stretcher in the url below at the moment.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Deluxe-Wooden-Ladies-Shoe-Stretcher/dp/B000WOH6MO/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/026-2077054-3563621?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1194037724&sr=8-1

Finally if stretching doesn't work then consign the shoes to the "museum" rather than damage your feet.

  12. I've been wearing womens jean when I first started wearing high heels. This was because I found out that Long Tall Sally and Tall Girls sold 34" and 36" length in a boot coot which hid footwear from public scrutiny. The pleasant surprise was the use of elastane in the material. All of a sudden jeans where forgiving, didn't bulge at the knees and came in more styles and options than mens jeans. Since then I've always bought womens jeans even if the fastening goes left not right. Nobody notices and if I want to push it abit I can buy patterned jeans or split leg. I wish they would make more side fastening jeans though they seemed to have gone out of fashion.

  13. An alternative view. Two things From a design point of view, the attraction of a human is the vertical flowing form. The inverted cone. The bits that sticks out at the base distracts from the effect. The higher the heel the shorter the apparent foot. This is why I find pointed toes distracting and ballet heels are the ultimate conclusion to this. The power of heels to me is Talent. Anyone wearing heels who can't walk or manouver with grace (that counts me out) destroys the effect. A true heel wearer demonstrates a physical dexterity and a style that I admire in any dancer, gymnast or even footballer.

  14. I used to dress up indoors but realise after stepping out all I really wanted was the footwear. Anything thats comfortable and easy I'll wear, briefs, popsocks tunic type tops, stretch bootlegs yes. Hose, dresses, blouses no.

  15. I don't know if this topic has been covered before. Heels and airports. Strangely the most carefree places that I feel are airports. People are distracted and will ignore you but you can also have captive audiences. Being comitted to wearing what ever you choose for hours on end, the negotiation of marble floors, carpets and walkways, walking down steep umbilicals, standing in queues, sitting crossed legged in cafe bars, climbing stairs, foot twirling while waiting at passport control or baggage reclaim. People who notice and have adverse reactions, you will never see again and those who admire will boost your morale no end. I love watching women having to remove their incredible footwear to get through security and they always try to get though the first time. I want some of that. I always try to set off the alarm to be forced to go back and shed my heels and put them through Xray. To see the jaded looks on the security guards but also the intruged looks on the public behind as you walk with stockinged feet through the scanner. Then to deliberatley get shod on the otherside while leaving your heels on the conveyor to the last moment. Knee high boots are the best for this, exposing the maximum nylon and taking the longest as you roll up your jeans. Has anyone got any stories and experiences in these electric enviroment?

  16. I wear lower heels (2 " and under). I particularly love women's casuals that accentuate the arch, round off the heel and give the foot a flowing shape. Merrel Plazas are a good example. Any trainer that looks like I'm wearing a sock I find particularly stylish, the Puma Sokuto comes closest. I've recentley taken to wearing a ballerina with kitten heels when flying as they are so soft and light when wandering around the airport and so easy to slip off and on during the flight even with my feet swelling due to altitude.
