  1. So, I've noticed lately that whenever I go out browsing for heels, I either have an image in my mind of what I'm looking for, or, I'll know it when I see it. The last week or so when I've gone out, just seems like I haven't found anything that's piqued my interest. This summer I've been actually interested in wedge heels. I found a pair I was interested in, though just didn't want to 'invest' on the regular price. Now that the fall lineup is making its way to the stores, maybe the chances will be better since I tend to go for the classic stiletto styles, sans boots. Anyone go through those funks where you go out and though you do see some nice heels, it just doesn't get you excited enough to make the purchase?

  2. I was in one of those feel-good grooves today after going to a Charles David store the night before to check out the sales. I didn't feel as nervous since I was the only guy in there, and it was easing that the sales ladies were friendly and helpful. I did see a nice pair of classic cut pumps, as well as slingbacks, but I decided not to buy.

Today I went to Neiman Marcus and the sales lady there was just as helpful as well. Unfortunately they didn't have the CL I was looking for in navy patent, though the successor to the Stuart Weitzman Fever pump was pretty hot in the red patent: http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod135900003

There was also a pair of Jimmy Choo in the classic cut pump, too. Oh, if I had the resources...I would've left with a small fortune

But, didn't leave completely empty handed today...

  3. My last girlfriend - no. Her feet were deceptively (nice slender looking feet and toes) long looking, but smaller than my feet. My first girlfriend did share the same size feet as I, though she wore 2" heels at most. She did have me try a few of her shoes at one time, no heels though. I'm not going to say that's part of the criteria I look for in my next girlfriend, but if she's into heels, and we share the same size, then all the more reason to have fun with it.

  4. Now, I was just imagining myself purchasing from Walgreen's or similar places, some stockings, to go under my jeans when I'm out shopping for heels. But the question came to mind, predominantly to stocking-wearing men on here: What size would you get?

Ok, maybe it's obvious on the packet, but will it be able to fit? I wanted to try this kinda as an experiment, not an every-time-I-go-out thing. I used one of the try-on stockings at Macy's one night (yeah, at night). The place was completely empty, so I used it to my advantage. Stretched them, slipped them on (felt good, mind you :irked:, put on the peep-toes, and walked around a bit, and my golly! I never felt so good with them both on, and never looked so good either, even if what I had on were long jeans and a random shirt. Lol.

Guess where I'm really trying to get at is...Would you recommend wearing stockings not only for try-on purposes, but for look & feel purposes as well? And if you do recommend it, does jeans necessarily look good while wearing them? I ask this because I may have looked [and felt] good with the little try-on stockings on That night (many moons ago), but it really doesn't mean I should always wear them OR that I'll always look and feel good with them on. But maybe it is a sense of style on my part. Can anyone help?

Definite YES for pantyhose or hosiery wearing, especially with heels. I grew up pretty much wearing pantyhose with heels, so aside from wearing (some) sandal style heels, pantyhose with heels is awesome.

I never tried the sheer sock when you try on heels, but based on the look of them, they don't look very sheer. When it comes to sizing, I would normally get where I fall in my size range with respect to height and weight. With those where I fall in the middle, I go the size bigger.

Actually, I have been wearing hosiery under my jeans more earlier this year when trying on heels at the stores. In addition, the feel of them under your jeans, even slacks, is like a party on your legs. Style-wise, I prefer sheer to waist or tanga-style pantyhose with no support. I've tried suspender pantyhose as well, though as the day wears on, I can feel the tops slide a little.

Also, you mentioned Macys as a store you frequent. A couple of posts cited HUE, which I'll agree. Hanes and Donna Karan are great, too. I haven't tried Berkeshire, but they look pretty good to try. Now, if you have a Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack near you, pick up the Nordstrom brand hosiery. At Nordstrom Rack, their store brand pantyhose is no more than $5, and they feel awesome.

But, yes, try the hosiery with trying on heels. You will love the feel of it heeling.

Well Iam 5' 2" tall and my shoe size is 37 european and I love highheels...:irked:

Lucky thing! You're in perfect proportion with such 'teeny weeny' feet!! I'm 5' 5" and take size 38 European...so I guess I'm in the right proportions too.

(....and it goes without saying that I LOVE high heels).

Well, given that I'm in between both you Dontss and pussyinboots as far as height, so my perspective on a small foot would be like a US 5-6. To me, at that size, if the lady's foot was slender, giving that illusion of a bigger foot, then in that respect, yes.

Ideally, I like the look of a slender foot in the US 7-8 range. I don't know if that fares as small feet. To me, that's just right.

  6. Ok so I contacted 2 people! each of them identified the shoe as Gianmarco Lorenzi, the first woman who I contacted said she owned a pair but not anymore..so she cant help with the item #, the only thing she knew was they are froma few seasons back.

the second woman has had them in stock in her ebay store, she only knows that it was part of the 2008-2009 Summer collection.

I searched google images but couldnt see it there. I checked yahoo images and couldnt see them their neither.

That's cool. It's a step in the right direction. This is actually part of the fun of trying to pin down that elusive heel on your list. Hopefully more information will start coming out.

  8. Most recent for me is Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, the female lead wore some gorgeous heels throughout. Most notable for me was her first scene where she was putting on a pair of black Christian Louboutin Pigalle 120 pumps. What a gorgeous site that was!

  9. Unfortunately, stw8, it seems they are not available any more. You can have the New Decoltissimo but in 85.

Dah! That is sad to hear...I first saw the Decoltissimo 100 last February at Neiman Marcus. Aside from the classic line of the pump, the look of it in a navy patent was gorgeous (and I'm not usually into blues). If I had the funds I would've bought it on the spot. Last time I checked was in June and I was still (barely) available.

I did attempt to bid on a used black leather pair on eBay a couple months back. The opening bid was set low, but the winning bid ended up being more than I wanted to put into them so I wasn't that bummed. Still looking the eBay route, or if by chance it's sold from a private seller, too.

  10. Based on the description alone, without looking at the picture first, I was imagining a platform heel with the paws protruding off the toe box. After looking at the actual shoe, I love the line of the pump and the fact that it's NOT a platform sole. I would probably try it on just for the curiosity of how it would actually look, but wouldn't commit to it. I'm still targeting the Louboutin Decoltissimo 100 in navy patent, which, is a little harder to find now... :irked:

  11. stw8: I couldn't get your link to work. P;lease try again if you can. I know the style to which you're referring. They're still popular here.

BTW, I couldn't resist and I bought the Nine West Naughty Flats (black) today. A few days from now I'll post a pic.

Thanks for the lookout! Let's try that again...Yeah, the link expired, but I was able to jpg it.

  12. Hello and welcome, Ladyinred,

I'm sorry you didn't win the auction for the heels. If it's any consolation, a 38 may be a tad on the big side for you.

I did try to do a Google search and tried to be descriptive as possible, but didn't come up with a match. If there is someone else here with that vast knowledge, all the better for you.

What I would suggest is send an email directly to Gianmarco Lorenzi http://www.gianmarcolorenzi.com/gianmarcolorenzi.html

with an link of the shoe. That way they can identify the model and if it's still available. I actually did this same thing when I was trying to identify a Jimmy Choo style of heel I happened to come across looking at images. I got a reply from a Jimmy Choo rep, told me the style and season.

    Hope this helps.

  13. I've bought both online and stores. I have yet to try on heels at a sit down store (though I've been feeling more into going for it. After reading testimonials here it's been inspiring). I have been able to try at self service stores no problem. Seems like lately I haven't found anything I've liked to buy at the stores. As far as online, eBay is my go-to. There's heels I can find from previous seasons not available in stores anymore that I wasn't able to get then. There are a couple of pairs that are eluding me due to price (i.e, Christian Louboutin Decoltissimo 100 in navy patent, and Jimmy Choo Disco, black peep toe pump with cross straps over the top of the foot). Sizing's not an issue for me as I can find what I like no problems.

  14. If you look where she's climbing the scrap heap to talk to Megatron, she's in flats. The scene cuts away from her, and then back, and she's in heels again. I was pretty much drooling over her shoes throughout the movie.

I'm with you on that I was watching to see what kind of heels she'll be wearing throughout the movie. There were a few scenes like that, especially in the building scene in Chicago, where you can see her in flats and heels. I think there was also a time in the penthouse scene where they panned to her in a shot wearing a different colored pair of heels, then progressing and they change.

  15. Aside from this iteration of Transformers: Dark of the Moon being very much worth watching, the new love interest for Sam Witwicki was Carly, played by Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Throughout the movie, especially in the action scenes, she's in heels. The first scene though, definitely got my attention when I saw the Christian Louboutin red soles she was wearing (Pigalle I believe). Check it out (if you haven't already)

Also, I loved this quote from her when I read about this prior to the premiere:

[on being taller than her co-star Shia LaBeouf] I had to wear heels the whole way through filming, when it came to our kissing scene, I said 'Please Michael, let me take my shoes off. I feel so unelegant and I feel so unfeminine,' ... and he said 'No. You're giving small men across America hope.'

  16. I bought a pair online a couple of weeks ago. I was actually looking for a pair of slingback stilettos, at least 3" in black. But when I found a Charles David patent white pair with a 3.75" stiletto, I had to get it. Even with the adjustable sling, I was afraid being half size bigger than my usual it wouldn't fit too well. Fortunately with the pointed toe, it kept my foot all through the bed of the sole and no excess space in the back (yuck). Pardon the blur though...the picture was originally taken in 3D (experimenting).
