A man and a woman who have never met before find themselves in the same sleeping carriage of a train. After the initial embarassment, they both manage to get to sleep; the woman on the top bunk, the man on the lower. In the middle of the night, the woman leans over and says, "I'm sorry to bother you, but I'm awfully cold and I was wondering if you could possibly pass me another blanket." The man leans out and, with a glint in his eye, says, "I've got a better idea....let's pretend we're married." "Why not," giggles the woman. "Good", he replies. "Get your own damn blanket."

you find a pair of shoes you like and fail to get them.
In my case I was having a look round the Fosse Park shopping centre near Leicester today and was in New Look. I found a pair of Peep Toe Platforms similar to the ones below. There was one shoe on the shelf in a size 8 so I asked for the other one, but after a thorough search it was nowhere to be found. No more stock in the shop so they either sell the shoes singly now or somebody has tried the other one on and lost it.
No joy there then so I tried the Nuneaton store and no size 8 there either. I'll try Coventry tomorrow.
Hmm how about the yellow or red patent ones....

BTW the shoe below is from VivalaDiva and wont fit me, as I ordered a pair but had to send them back - they were a very small 8.

I am highly honoured and flattered that you thought my lines were worthy of the prize, and would like to say a big thank you to Kneehighs, Heelfan and Peachy for organising the contest and supplying the prize. Thanks must also go to Dr Shoe who's poem provided the original inspiration and the local pub for providing the "thinking juice" I think the last time I wrote any verse was when I was at school - a long long time ago!! Now, about that trip to Bristol - got a good reason to visit now,!! Regards Calv

Hi Having seen the shops at the moment I think it is definitely worth postponing until the Autumn. Shops are only trying to shift the summer stock at present. Give it a month or 2 and the autumn/winter stuff should be in. I should be up for joining you then. Calv

As I cant make Amsterdam I'll see you in London instead!! Calv

I would like to come along, but I already have a weekend trip in the bus for that weekend. Any other weekend in August I can make, except that one. Calv

Thoughts from the World Heel Meet on May 13 2006
I went to London for the World Heel Meet
With my trusty wedges upon my feet
I arrived there rather late
As to Heathrow Airport I had to deviate.
We all met up near Oxford Street
No finer people could I meet
Heelers from Britain, Germany, Netherlands were all there
More heelers from USA and Argentina sat in the square
Kneehighs used his camera to capture the moment
When we 20 all met for the first instant
20 heelers upon the town
Trying to wear those prejudices down
After meeting we decided to shop
Thence to Topshop, our first stop
Loads of heels to be savoured
Sadly nothing would be favoured
Time for dinner we finally agree
So to Restaurant Paradiso we all flee
All you can eat for six pounds fifty
We decide that’s rather nifty
We all soon feel rather jolly
Although no-one can beat the appetite of Polly
Three trips to the buffet she is able
To eat the rest of us under the table
After coffee we all depart
Tearful farewells and kisses as we part
The heel meeters go their separate ways
Thoughts enriched for future days
At kneehighs’ Novotel, we all cheer
But the champagne looks rather queer
Red champagne, surely not
Sorry folks, that’s all they’ve got
At the end of the night we received a thrill
When Louis came back, dressed to kill
Tight pants, corset, silver heels, O what a sight
He’s really hitting the town tonight
All too soon we must leave
We’ll meet again soon I believe
So here’s to the next heel meet
Wearing those boots upon the street

Very nice shoes (makes a change replying to a post rather than deleting spam!) Calv

My next door neighbour walks home from the shop with their shopping cart and currently have 3 in their back yard. Perhaps they are hoping the carts will find their own way back to the store Calv

Welcome Back Anything exciting happen whilst you've been away? Calv

I was up in the city yesterday.
Camden, for a few "alternative" shoes (and Aldo Liquidation).
Whats this Secreto, have Aldo gone bust?
Xaphod will be gutted. None of their stuff fitted me though
Shame as they had some nice styles.

its pity you dont like them , i thought there are more red shoes maniacs, and these little flowers so feminine...
I quite like red shoes .... I have a pair of red Aldo knee-highs which I wear with a skirt sometimes. I have a matching Tula shoulder bag to carry all the garbage that I would normally carry in my trouser pockets.
This is about the maximum I go into fem mode which, unfortunately, leaves me in the no-man's-land of neither being a regular guy nor a tranny passing as a woman. BTW .... damn good pun, that

PS .... apologies to Kobo when I lost your post as I moved the 'Duckies' to the pictures forum.

Well this might have been asked before but how did you get interested in heels, and what where your first minutes / hours like in them.
Hi, this is xaphod on Calv's computer .... I'm at his place this weekend in 'I came, I saw, I did a little decorating' mode. Heels, for me, became interesting when I was about 4 years old when I was just the right height to cop an eyefull of them without being obviously nosey. It was also the stiletto era of the late 50s and early 60s .... bliss. I didn't get around to trying on my mum's heels until I was about 8 or 9, if I remember.
...... WOW. They looked great, I slipped them on and stood up, to my amazement I could stand in them fine, then I tried to take my first steps in them, which proved to me very easy. So I spent a couple of hours walking around the house with no trouble at all. Which kind of shocked me, as I was expecting them to hurt my feet or for me to fall over in them and stuff.
Aha ... you have things to learn .... it's relatively easy to walk, even in extreme heels, around the house for short periods. It's a different thing entirely putting on a pair of heels and going about everything you do in a normal day whilst wearing them.
So a couple of weeks later and after some hours in them I decided to go out for a small walk in the evening after reading some posts on this site. It was amazing the sounds they made and the feeling you get.
I am now looking to build my collection up now and meet / talk to more people that share one of my great enjoyments
Oh, yes, the sounds and the feeling of wearing heels outside gives far greater pleasure than mooching about the house in them. I suggest finding a pair of good-quality, well-fitting heels, say 3 to 4" as a start would be good for your first public exploits.
More power to your efforts and may you find pleasure in your heels wherever you wish to wear them. Keep in touch ..... we are always interested in hearing how a newcomer progresses.

Is this going to be a day-time trip?
I believe so, I thought it was a day time trip. What time are you arriving Kneehighs?

I can make May 13, but not the other 2 dates in May. Count me in on May 13 in London. A few of us went to Paris a couple of years ago, to be honest I think London has more going for it on the heely front. We did not get any members from France along for the meet. London will definitely get more response. Calv

They are those stretch trousers/tights/leggings with a band that fits under the foot. Stirrups were popular a few years back but then fashion moved on. At one stage they were everywhere. Think they were also called ski pants here in Britain
I think the original use was for ballet tights. I've had a quick Google and found this pic which shows the stirrup (and a ballet pointe!)

When I visited the USA, using Amtrak trains to get around it was always mentioned by the conductor not to walk around barefoot on the train, for safety reasons. It would be very easy to trap your foot especially when crowssing to the next coach. I assume the possibility of trapping your foot whilst driving barefoot is the same reason. Calv

THANKS CALV, WHERE AM i GOING WRONG?
I'm not sure. I couldn't see anything wrong with the URLs in your message. I copied & pasted from the photo and it worked for me. I've tried in the past and got the same results as you though. Just lucky this time I guess.

Hi Lorriete
Nice meeting you yesterday.
I've sorted out the linking for you and you should now see us on this message.

Heelfan, A3 and FGWJON
Heelfan FGWJON, Calv and Xaphod
Photos taken outside Faith in one of the Cardiff Shopping Centres. Missing was Si (still in Faith or Next to Nothing) and Lorriette was on the back end of the camera.
Note the spoils of a hard days shopping in Cardiff...... Total booty was 8 pairs. 2 each for Heelfan, FGWJON and Si. Xaphod and A3 bought one pair each - this style, reduced from £80 to £40.

HI, Micha,
Yes, the restrictive rules of the Americans remind me of a quote from the late Peter Ustinov .....
In America there is freedom of choice, but, through pressure of conformity, nothing to choose from.
