  1. I was looking at the Fall arrivals on their website and when I went to the local retail store to check them out I found their doors were closed. I checked their online store locator and found they closed the 3 closest stores to me Sad for me since they helped me in my early years of heeling since they were one of a few stores that offered size 11. Another victim of the current economic situation I guess!

  2. Somewhere along the way I read that Michelle Pfeiffer was wearing boots that had a true 5" heel and they were made for her by Leatherworks or TSB. They certainly seem to be that high when you catch a glimpse of them in the movie. Certainly is tough to run in those.

  3. I have 2 pairs of his boots and also found the sizing to be erratic. The first pair I purchased had the 4" heel in size 9 and I felt they were a tad small. So I decided to try his 5"heel boot and went up a half size to 91/2. I was disappointed to find they were so big. I contacted Miguel and he suggested going down a full size to an 81/2. I did not want to go thru the hassle of trying to return the boots to Mexico. so I can't comment on his recommendation for the 5" heel boot. I really like the quality of his boots and shipping was quick. The return/exchange game gets to be tiresome though. But that is the sacrifice/gamble one has to make when ordering online.

  4. About ten years ago I wandered into one of the major bookstores and came across the 3 volume set Complete Reprint of Exotique. This is a must have research item as it has hundreds of photos of shoes from the 50's. Even more interesting is many of the features dealt with men wearing heels and corsets-quite a leap for the time. The shoes featured have a 'look'that you certainly do not see today. What mystifies me is no one can provide any information as to the manufacturer, country of origin or where they were available for purchase. Exotique even had a catalog available, but none of those have ever surfaced. Multiple searches on Ebay over the years have yet to turn up any surviving shoes of this era. In today's electronic world I am baffled how a unique period in shoe history has just disappeared.

  5. I just picked up a pair of shoes from this company at DSW. Nice black leather upper and sole, 5" heel and marked down from $200 to $50. I just can't seem to find any info on this company other than it is Canadian based. Anyone have any info on this company?

  6. I know a few members here have purchased boots from CowboybootsUSA. I was just wondering what your thoughts were on sizing? I purchased one of his new styles with the 4" heel and I thought they ran a liitle small. I'd like to order his brand new style with the 5" heel and was just wondering if I should go up a size? I have to say I was very happy with the quality, pricing and service. He definitely fills a much needed niche. Any comments? Thanks.

  7. I have been watching the auctions from Italy and Germany for the new Lorenzini shoes and boots and many of them have been going for reasonable prices, even with the Internationaal shipping chaarges. Since you rarely see them in the USA, was just wondering if there is a problem getting them thru customs or with some sort of import tax? Have any HH members had any experience in this area?

  8. I have wanted to try a pair of Louboutins, but the price has always been an issue. I started searching the web for Louboutins and found 4 sites that offer Louboutins for 75% off with free shipping. This drops the basic shoe into the $150 price range. At that price I would try a pair. Somehow it just doen't seem realistic for a authentic pair. Has anyone purchased from these discount sites? Check out www.christianloubouting.com, which is one of the sites I found. I did email them asking for a Euro size 42 and did receive an answer within 24 hours saying they were available but just not listed in the sizes available chart. Any other info or souces would be appreciated.

  9. I have been a member of the HHPlace for a few years now and I would be the first to admit that I do not respond to many postings. I would consider myself more of a listener and have always enjoyed reading the topics. Lately it seems the topiics focus on the highest heel one can wear and where to wear it to. Yes I agree heels are a big part of the wardrobe, but in the end its not about the highest heel.

  10. I am working on a wall mounted display case for my office/den that will feature unique high heels. Size is not an issue since they will be for display only. I am interested in shoes made in England, Italy and Germany and not the cheap Made in China heels. I have searched Ebay(USA) using the keywords stiletto, fetish, UK, court shoe etc. and have come up with limited results. Running the same searches on Ebay(European contries) is more succesful, but the international shipping charges becomes an issue. I have also searched women's vintage shoes with limited results. Any input on locating unique heels would be appreciated.

  11. I remember when the Fairfield/Norwalk store opened and the aisles were full of shoe boxes. It was like walking into shoe heaven. The last few times I've been there the inventory was noticeably smaller along with not much available above a size 10. I always had good luck at the Portchester,Ny outlet. The added bonus was a DSW store nearby. Even that store has gone from 2 floors of shoes down to one. Seems to be a pattern developing here oif downsizing. As an aside, it seems to me that 9West shoes are running narrow/small the last year or so. Anyone else had this experience?

  12. Just wondering if anyone has a pair of shoes from Olivia Morris? I stumbled on her website and she has some interesting styles. She's based in England and it would be interesting to know where the shoes are made. I've been trying to avoid shoes made in China lately.

  13. Whatever happed to Tana Louise after all of her years doing photos for Exotique magazine? She had a great shoe and leather clothing collection during those years. It's a shame that there doesn't seem to be anyone who remembers who made all those great shoes and boots. There is just something about the lines of those shoes you just don.t see today

  14. This thread is currently posted in the Girls Section, which we of course cannot respond to. So how about the same question/poll from the men's point of view. As for me, my SO does not like to wear heels, so I am envious of all the woman who enjoy not only wearing heels for themselves but also for their SO As an aside, since the Girls Forum is closed to all male members it just seems only fair that the women not be able to repond to topics in the Guys Forum. Any gender neutral topics should be discussed in the Everybody Forum. I once responded to a thread in the GF on how to store shoes and was of course deleted. How ridiculous is that. The thread should have been moved to the Everbody section so we all could gain some ideas.
