Beeblebrox Posted April 11, 2002 Posted April 11, 2002 It would be interesting to know how we define the perfect arch. Like how its curved, the hight, if its flat and so on.
Highluc Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 The perfect arch is something you have to feel for yourself. Every foot is different and not only the actual lift, double curvature and radius of the curves are important, but also where the curves are starting. Some start lifting too much at the back still leaving the lower arches unsupported. Experience and tryials will soon allow you to feel what's good and what's junk. The ideal shape will spread your weight over the complete lower foot and offer a relaxing support under your lower arches. On some models (mostly sandals) I choose a different shoe size in order to get the curves at the correct position. Choosing shoes is a complicated business involving patience and trial and error. For most girls this is part of their education and that's why they have no qualms trying 15 pair in a store and leaving without a purchase. Unfortunately as boys we were brought up buying a new pair only when the old ones were worn and entering a store and only checking the shoes for correct lenght. We almost wouldn't dare to walk out without a purchase after trying the same pair in 2 sizes. Time will get your mind accustomed to the finer art of selecting nice, good and well fitting shoes. Be youself, enjoy any footwear you like and don't care about what others think about it, it's your life, not theirs. Greetings from Laurence
