If you're shy about attracting attention, why would you ever go out in public wearing any pair of high heels in the first place?
I don't recall mentioning anything about shyness in my initial reply. The intent of the post was to signify that they are special occasion shoes. Male or female, shoes like that are going to get wanted & unwanted attention, such as; 'Those boots are amazing!', 'Are those real Louboutins?', 'With shoes like that, how high-maintenance are you?', et. al.
In my experience, I choose an outfit based on where I'm going and what I'm doing. Thankfully, a lot of us in the First World have a reasonable degree of freedom to make choices in fashion and their personal style. I choose to follow some decorum while diverting from norm, and it's worked for me for a long time.
I want to avoid diverting from the topic too much, but the comment seemed necessary. Thank you for your feedback.

At least the boots gave her some ankle support. Based on the story, if they were something that didn't completely encase the ankle, she may not have been able to walk at all by night's end.

WOW.. Fantastic boots! Will you be sharing them with the world or keeping them just for your own enjoyment? As with any work of art, it would be a shame to keep them hidden.
Of course they will venture out, but only for the appropriate occasions...being a guy AND wearing stiletto-heeled Louboutins, the likelihood of grabbing both wanted & unwanted attention will be high, speaking from experience.

I have went out with jeans/pants tucked in as well as under them. It usually depends on where I'm going, my mood, the weather, etc.

A few weeks ago I had on 5.5 in heels and was walking downstairs to the garage of the building I live in when a neighbor's puppy started charging up the stairs. I didn't fall or step on it but it did require a bit more care when taking those few steps. I stopped to play with the puppy for a bit and have a quick conversation with my neighbor and that was that. I agree with the previous posts...walking up stairs in heels is A LOT easier.

I answered yes, without question. In reflecting a little bit upon myself, I think that my confidence has grown since I started wearing heels in public on a semi-regular basis. Positive or negative, I have become accustomed to getting the attention. Thankfully, the response of those who notice has mostly been positive

I tend to favor round or almond toe shoes and boots...for me it would be tough to coordinate a pointed toe shoe into the rest of my wardrobe. I do like square toed shoes and boots a lot though, but I haven't seen those around much this season.

lol, My crackberry WAS worse than your alcatel because that too would last not very long only with a TINY TINY screen...
I see your crappy alcatel and lower you 1 crackberry..
I second the awfulness of the blackberry. Although they still have a die hard following in some corporate environments, I can't see RIM as a major player in the next 5 years unless they do something groundbreaking.

I love this question! It's definitely going to make me pay attention when I'm out and about. For me, it would depend on the rest of the outfit...and it would probably be more of a "you have a bold sense of style" type of like than a "I want to jump your bones" type of like. I'm just saying.

Nice boots! They would also look great with black tights and a dark colored tunic.
By the way, what are those boots in your avatar? Are they flats?

These boots are the most recent addition to my shoe collection. They're also my favorite pair right now, for the heel height they are extraordinarily stable.

Of all the pairs of shoes in my closet, there is this one pair that I really like but have had reservations about wearing on a regular day, or anytime outside of a special occasion that would call for wearing shoes like this. I bought these boots last year and have worn them one time for a fetish event. Ever since, they have sat in my closet. These boots intimidate me for a number of reasons. First, they are the most expensive pair of heels in my closet, at $700. They are Stuart Weitzman black suede boots, and for the height of the heel they are extraordinarily comfortable. Over the pricing issue is the style and height of the heel, they are a true 5in stiletto with a 3/4 in platform. While manageable, they are definitely attention grabbers, which leads to the next factor...they are over the knee. Actually, these hit mid thigh. Given all of that, anybody, regardless of gender is most likely going to attract a lot of attention while wearing these. As a side note, I don't have an issue with wearing heels as I have been out and about before while wearing some of the other heels in my collection. These, however, freak me out as far as having them in a semi-regular rotation. Today though, for some reason, I felt like breaking these out. With it being a Saturday I didn't have to go to work or anything. The weather was going to be dry and cold, so it seemed good for wearing a suede pair of shoes. I ended up running a few errands, doing some shopping and a little bit of walking from building to building. All in all, it was pretty much a regular day. There were a lot of second looks/head turns that I noticed, a couple of compliments and some puzzled stares...it wasn't too much different than wearing any other pair of heels actually. Granted I will not wear those regularly, it was good to get over that intimidation factor of this one pair of shoes. I have attached pics of the whole outfit for reference, essentially it was easy...I had straight-leg jeans tucked into the boots and had a black wool coat on. I am still limited as to what else in my closet I could wear them with, but it seemed balanced, at least from my perspective. Have a great day everyone, thanks for reading

I found a pair of Frye Oxfords that I really like. They only go up to size 11. I usually wear a size 12, but depending of the shoe, I can sometimes get away with an 11. These are the shoes that I would like to get http://www.thefryecompany.com/Product-Women-Shoes-Heels-73631BRN.aspx. I don't want to spend that kind of money if they are going to be too tight. Any help will be appreciated.
I would say that they run true to size. I have two pairs of Frye boots...the Harness styles are forgiving, but any Frye shoe or boot with a heel on it are not.
I hope this information helps.

I apologize in advance for deviating a little bit from the welcomes, but since a lot of individuals from Sweden have posted on this thread I kind of have to ask this question... I was shopping for Halloween candy yesterday and came across red gummy fish, which were being sold as 'Swedish Fish'. I'm going to guess that this is more brand advertising and marketing than anything else, but are these candies being sold outside of the United States...much less Sweden? The only fish dish I was familiar with that came from that region of the world is Lutefisk, but only because the dish pops up at festivals in the midwestern United States every now and then. Again, I apologize for the awkwardness of the question, and to keep with the forum section's theme, welcome!

Why would you want to change her mind about something like that? I agree with her, while thigh high boots may be appropriate in some work environments, I cannot see them fit into a business casual office or business formal office setting.

It's always interesting to see the relationship between the humor and the embarrassment of slipping and falling...at least she had a little bit of a sense of humor about it. I wonder how many more videos like that would be floating around if men wearing heels were a more accepted practice.
But I digress...here is my favorite fall video:

Looks like hhboots beat me to the punch. I caught the location in the comments section, I missed the Richmond part though

It looks like the shot was taken in Virginia, I wonder if that was near Washington DC or more toward the rural areas of western VA. In any case, I have never seen anything that bold while shopping anywhere, much less Walmart. I don't get the leg jewelry at all, though.

Over the past few years I have seen a few instances of guys wearing heels as guys: - I saw a guy in chunky-soled loafers wakling down the street, this was parbably around 2007. I was across the street waiting for a bus and what caught my eye was the awkwardness of his walk, after that, I noticed that his pants were too tight for his waist, he didn't tuck his shirt in and his gut was hanging out from the tightness of his pants. I'm not sure what his thought process was in getting dressed, but it was pretty much a disaster. Not very many second looks back in his direction from other pedestrians, though. - Last winter I was getting a haircut, and while I was checking out and paying there was a guy at the next register down from me who was in jeans, a pastel shirt, a hoodie and round-toe shoes with what looked like a 2.5in - 3in heel. I had my Frye Harness boots tucked into my jeans that day and I think I caught his attention first...he kept staring at me but didn't say anything. On my way out I nodded and smiled and was on my way out. I guess the hair shop people say that guy is kind of a diva, but he did have a reasonable sense of style to pull the look off. - This probably doesn't qualify as a heel sighting, but about two weeks ago I saw a shoe store employee, that was a guy, who was wearing tall shaft, flat, ruched suede boots tucked into his jeans. He wasn't dressed flashy, and seemed comfortable working with the other customers, male and female, in the store. I was working with the shop girl as I was looking for a specific type of dress shoe. I live in a college town, maybe that has some influence in my sightings?

Yes. That is me in my newest purchase, a pair of Frye over-the-knee boots.

WTF??!!! I gotta be honest & say that I'm really bored as hell with the lack of variety in mens' clothing. There's only so many ways you can do a basic shirt, pants & flat shoes. Meanwhile, the girls have 100 bazillion things that they can wear. There's lots of things that used to be mens' clothing many years ago that have recently been hijacked by the girls & been turned into women-only clothing (we all know the historic background of high heels - anyone remember that men wore tights/leggings/etc a few hundred years ago?)
Hello,
You definitely present a lot of thoughts to consider, but I do have to ask for more details about your thoughts regarding the lack of variety regarding mens' clothing. If I were to go through my closet, my shirts would include button-up dress shirts cut for suits as well as slim fit shirts cut closer to the body, in many colors and patterns, polos, long sleeve tees, short sleeve tees...I could go on all day. Men's jeans, especially the designer brands (7 for all Mankind, Citizens of Humanity, etc.) have multiple fits and colors/washes, and if layering or adding a sweater, hoodie or jacket is thrown into the mix, guys do have more options than just a shirt and pants. I could even go into further discussion on traditional mens' shoes/boots:smile:
But I digress...from observation of social norms, it seems that people in modern society are conditioned to think that women are given a broader set of rules to play with in regard to fashion and style. By no means do I have factual evidence to support that statement, but while I was looking through fashion magazines earlier this week, I noticed that a lot of the content and advertising is, and probably has almost always been, focused to women...as that is probably where the most money is to be made. I'm not saying that guys don't focus on appearance, I'm just saying that guys, as a group, don't place the same amount of focus in comparison to women, as a group.
I also think that Dante makes an important point; body type can greatly determine what a guy or girl can wear that can be commonly determined as acceptable or good looking by a social group. If a guy can rock a pair of women's skinny jeans, then let him keep rockin' them, but if he suffocates himself trying to put them on, that's probably not a good thing.
Maybe one day trends in fashion will balance out from a social perspective, but until that point comes let us challenge and seek more interpretation of the rules of fashion.

Wow, a cap-toe, lace-up, back-zip, buckled shoe/boot with an ankle strap, in white, black, tan and brown. Maybe it's designed for those with ADHD and some cash to spare. Although it's an extraordinarily strange design, it would still be fun to see someone try to coordinate an outfit to them.

I remember this story when the whole thing with her and Citibank was unfolding. Has there been any updates in the suit? I suppose I could Google it...

My most recent purchase was a pair of black Frye over-the-knee (kind of) boots about 2 weeks ago. I wore them out tucked into jeans the following weekend. They are pretty awesome. Unfortunately, they are at the shoe repair shop as the zipper of the left boot is showing signs of slight wear at the tension point near the ankle. The shoe repair professional said that the type of repair is becoming more common as manufacturers are focusing less on craftsmanship. I'm not going to criticize Frye as their craftsmanship is amazing...my other Frye's are about a year old and still look brand new even after streaks of daily wear last winter and spring. Nonetheless it was an interesting observation on her part.
Who has bought some new BOOTS?

Thank you for your comment. They're EUR42, and TTS. These are my second pair, as I tried on and bought a pair of coral watersnake So Kate's a couple of years ago in Las Vegas; those were also EUR42 and felt a half-size small from my perspective (I can range from a US10 - US12, depending on the shoe style and designer). I hope that information is helpful.
