  1. Maybe it would be better to use the KISS method (keep it simple, stupid) and use absolute heel heights as measured from the highest point of the heel plumb to the floor. Anything else just seems to create confusion for people.

No problem for applying this method to a total heel height.

What we were discussing was a method how to get a measurement for

    relative heel height.

Things like: 10cm heels, are they low (for a size 44) or high (size 35) ?

Heels I do have measure 11cm (absolute) but I'd categorize them as 4"

heels due to my size 42 being larger than most womens' feet.

  2. I'm sorry I go offtopic, but do the shoes by ebay have good quality ?

Since when was Ebay a manufacturer ?

On Ebay there's a wide range of sellers so it's a bit difficult to assess the

    quality in advance.

If an offer's description is a certain brand, look around the net to find reports

whether their quality is good (which can only be an average anyway)...

  3. I like the Oxford's a lot and the look like they'd fit my feet very well. They remind me a lot on my favourite (unfortunately retired due to being worn out) pair of shoes which happen to be Oxford's with rounded toes as well. Though mine have no white stitching, were probably slightly lower and had a chunkier heel.

  4. I very fondly remember that (almost) perfect pair of Oxford's I found on sale in 1993. When saw them on the shelf I fell immediately in love with them. Being a warm summer day I had no socks on so I went into a drugstore to buy a pair of nylon socks so I had some for fitting these shoes. They fit so perfect I kept them on after paying and continued my shopping. On the evening I had blisters on my footsoles so the following days I wore the other (flat) shows again until they healed up. I bought some inserts and then the Oxford's were really perferct. I wore them for about five years, the first of them all the time but after about the third repair they started to fall apart. I still have them somewhere, but the inside sole is completely worn out and the lashes are half ripped out and the material at the seams is so stressed that the shoes won't hold my feet anymore if I put them on. They're black leather, with half round toes, a height of 7-8cm and a really comfy heel which while not being stilettoed or thin is still slender.

  5. Oh yeah, I know that problem. A shop near me has some interesting pair of shoes now and the but they have them only up to 41. One pair I bought has a round toebox and would be a perfect fit in size 42. But as closed pumps they're too short for my feet and thus I can only wear them about an hour. Another pair is my current favourite for wearing at home but after a while they are not the most comfortable and outside wearing is certainly not possible. They're made of mostly textile fabric and very well cushioned inside, have a nice thin heel of 11cm (measured on the back of the heel) and very pointed toe. The heel part is almost unconcealed (just about 15mm of cloth). They're of that pseudo-trainer heel style which I consider quite strange. If those would be in 42 I'd think they'd be quite comfortable to my toes as well (not so strained as they are in 41), and I would be able to wear them on the street...

  6. I have to say I ordered the toe pads from Blicker and I'm not really satisfied. As I am by the combination of speed lacing hooks and zipper. I guess I will have to treat the eyelets with pliers so the laces don't come off. I have another pair of boots which have speed lacing hooks and zipper but the leg has the perfect width so I can pull the laces to maximum and they fit just fine. Unfortunately the leg is a little too long so it cuts the inside of my knees when sitting down.

  7. As I wrote in this thread I'm seriously considering to spend some money

for a pair of ballet boots and as they're my first am in dire need of some

assistance to decide on which size to order...

I already gave a lot of information in my other posting, so I want to proceed

    from there...

For comparison with other shoes, I've got a pair of "The Highest Heel"

model "Femme" (apparently not made anymore but I got a reference to

    them with a picture here).

My pair is size 12M and they're just a tiny fraction too small to be nice (apart

from their heel height). I'm not sure whether it's just their width or the

    length as well...

Although the pages of the shop here in Germany don't say it, I have a hunch

    they're ordering from http://www.exotichighheels.com/.

    Compare yourself:

To add to the confusion I've got a pair of boots model "Victoria" made by

"Ellie" size 11 which fit just fine, they're partly even on the big side (their

bootleg is a bit too long for sitting comfortably).

  8. @JimC:

Hopefully this is not too late: I checked w/ the seller on eBay back then and was adviced to order one size up. I have a EU43 which translates into a US women 12. So I had to take size 13 (which would be a UK11, depending on where you live) and they fit perfectly that way. And you actually need one size up since it's highly recommended to add a toe cushion in order to reduce the pain. Sorry, I forgot about that in my first post.

Sorry for jumping into this thread so late myself. I'm considering getting a

pair of ballet heels myself but I'm still a bit uncertain about the size...

Depending on their cut I wear shoes sized 42-43 so effectively my foot

size is 42 1/2. So I wonder whether a size 11 (US presumably) will fit well.

I tend to order the larger size so there's space for a foot cushion as well but

I fear if they're too large I have no hold for the foot. But if they're too

    small I'd cramp my toes...

All the different size conversion charts give me a headache. I measured

26cm and one chart even told my I should be wearing size 39!

Now, which size would you chose?

One offer is a nice oxford available in 10 or 12 and the other is a knee

length boot available in 11 as well...
