  1. well, what comes up to my mind here is the following pic from rené magritte called The Treachery of Images, which is sort of what i understand as the essence in this "dispute" here. at the end of a shoe design process one would expect a shoe or at least a shoe prototype that you are able to wear to some extent. i think the expamle with the architect fits quite well, same would be for industrial designers.

on the other hand. it's great that people show of their creative output, which i really appreciate. so we should not be too picky. at the end it is a well made picture/sketch of a boot. fine for me. well done.

  2. Hi.

As I'm searching for a special pair of high heel pumps, i stumbled over the Aldo Destime platform pumps, which i really like. So i still have two questions, cause i will need to order them online and want to get them fit in the first try.

    1) Do they run true to size and how wide would you say is the toe box (narrow, medium, broad). I don't have exceptional wide feet, but not really narrow ones either.

    2) About the heel size. At the official Aldo website they are just described as High Heel (2.5 in. and +) and on other websites as 4.5 - 5".

Have you seen them in real? They look totally different in my opinion. They are really high heels, 5.5'' no problem about this I think.

So is there anybody, who can confirm this?

Thanks for your reply in advance.

  3. Welcome col67,

I started buying shoes of my own about 10 years ago, and now have 12 pairs, ranging in heel height from 3" to 6" I cannot walk in the 6" and only bought them because they are such a beautiful object.

I think if i would get a nice pair of Louboutin in a size that neither me nor my gf can wear i think i'd also put them to display ... like a small statue or so. :(

    Cheers, :(

  4. Welcome Tradari. With me it's in parts the same. My gf also doesn't wear heels to often, cause she is just not so comfortable with, although she really likes hhs. Strange, but its like that. So again welcome and i hope you'll enjoy your heeling and the forum. Dante.

  5. Herzlich willkommen ihr zwei. Somit hätte ich dann offiziell österreichische Verstärkung hier im Forum. Ich hoffe ihr fühlt euch hier wohl. Bissl deutsch zur Begrüßung kann ja nicht schaden. So here again now in English. Welcome both of you. Nice to have some austrian "reinforcement" here in the forum. I hope you'll feel comfortable here. Some German, just for the welcome, won't hurt. :( As for your problem to find masculine boots. I agree they are pretty hard to find here in Austria. There are usually some for the winter, but those tend to be lined and cut wide. I recently saw a pair of mens buffalos (looking for a link to add later), but that was all i've seen for a reasonable price yet. Of course I saw some mens boots in the designer shops, but not for my wallet. What you can finde easily is biker and western boots, but that are just not the style i like. I already started to have a look in the womens section, cause there is just more variety in boots styles, some even very masculine and they also tend to be cheaper, cause it is more common and there ain't only designer high fashion boots, which are pricey. Lucky me, that i wear 40-41, so there is always a chance to find something. So good luck in your search for boots and welcome. Dante

  6. To each their own, Tech. I expect no less from our resident grouch. :( Nevertheless, I appreciate your comments, even if I happen to disagree with them. But hey, that's the beauty of forums like this as we can present opposing views on topics and subjects and respect each other for doing so.

Hehe, think you are right. I have to admit, that i also don't like your styling too much either ... i don't like tight highs much in general, maybe ones not stiletto but either low-chunky-heel or flat ones would fit better in accordance to the rest of the outfit and in my view the jacket is too bulky, but hey fashion remains a matter of taste. Much more important for me is your attitude towards it all and that's what i admire.

  7. Hi and a warm welcome,

    [silly mode on]

Wasn't there someting like "my shoes are pointier than yours" ... so a competitor for kneehighs - now you'll probably wonder where this comes from ... see this post and you'll know.

    [silly mode off]

I hope you'll both enjoy this place, like i do. At least another member from europe, not exactly a neighbour, but almost. ^^

    Cheers, Dante.

  8. Don't be too strict with her. I think she does look really nice in those heels and i applaud her for the choice, as i really like the ankle-boots. With the walking. Well. I think she will learn to handle them. At least she can pose in them. To really see if she is not able to walk in them at all, we'd need a video to proof. So if it is just the stairs for her, than it's a matter of practice, if she can't walk in them, then she should definitely keep her hand off such shoes.

    the fore-part is sloped

Doctore, for me as a non-native english-speaker it's sometimes harder to understand. So what you say is, the "inner" front-part of the sole/platform is curved upwards, as you see quite often. That's what makes it easier to wear higher heels. Am i getting it right? Thx. in advance for a reply, would really appreciate it.

  9. yes i wear platforms everyday, i love it, attached my everyday shoes

nice ones. don't like that the plateau sole is split in two, but the overall look is great.

and now back to topic. i think that you see a lot of shoes with a thinner plateau up to 1.5 inch everyday. the heels of my small collection all have a plateau too - not too high, but just a bit. i really like the look.

  10. I think you are right with your assumption that either the people don't see it or they don't care too much. My gf is still not convinced and mentioned that she wouldn't feel comfortable and as we go out together most of the time, i respect hear and don't wear heels. But i hope this will change. Anyway thanks for sharing SF.

  11. Thanks a lot benno. Really appreciate your reply. You are right, that there are pretty similar shoes around, but when it comes to the details i'm pretty picky. I think it's best to start my own thread as i don't want to hijack others.

  12. So then. After almost two weeks without i-net connection at home, i'm back online. Meanwhile we moved to another city here in Austria, which was the reason for that. We still live out of boxes ... all of u know who did move into a new flat in there life. :( But meanwhile life went on, even without i-net. Almost 2 weeks ago my gf and i were at our monthly bdsm & fetish get-together and there were friends talking about the rocky horror picture musical they went the other weekend. So i was saying that when i was dancing in a dance-company some years ago we also did a medley from rocky horror and it was always great fun. So we came to talk about men in heels and my gf said that i can probably walk more graceful in hhs then she ever can. So the grils around were interested and we agreed that for the next party i should wear hhs and the husband of another woman should wear some too, so that i'm not the only one. *ggg* So this sounds like great fun and i'm looking forward to the next party. I think in this alternative lifestyle there is more tolerance, also for men in heels. Most of the girls/woman were even excited when talking about men in heels. But let's stop with this now, as this is not a place to talk too much about bdsm and fetish, but simply about heels - don't know how open minded the community even is about this lifestyle. I'd say this was probably the most interesting part from the last weeks. The rest was more about packing, moving, renovation, ... which meant no hhs for me, cause they are just not pratical for such tasks. I'll keep u up to date. Yours, Dante. :(
