  1. I never used to try them on, always bought at self serve type places. Lately though I've gotten more brave and have looked at and tried on (and bought one pair) shoes in stores with sales associates where you have to ask for the size. It's kind of interesting the range of responses. At Aldo, I asked for an 11 in a particular shoe, and they didn't have it. The girl asked what occasion "she" wanted them for, and when I told her they were for me her demeanor completely changed. She was almost nasty with "well our 11's are too small for you". Left there empty handed. Went to JcPenney, since I had seen a couple pair there that I liked. Cute associate, asked for an 11 and she brought them out, and motioned to the seats, grabbed a pair of the test nylon footies and came over, opened the box and handed me the footies. They were a little big, so she suggested trying a 10 and went and got them. They were a little small, so she started making other suggestions in other brands, etc, and commented on which ones she thought looked better on me. Needless to say I walked out with a new pair of heels. I went in to another dept store, Macy's, and it was just me in the shoe dept. The girl at the counter went and got the shoes I asked for, handed them to me with a pair of the footie things and walked away. Never saw her again. Not sure what her deal was, but I obviously didn't buy anything. Bottom line is my experiences trying them on have ranged anything from disgust from Aldo, to extremely helpful and being treated very well, to apparent indifference though I'm not sure what the last girl's deal was.

  2. Have never found a salon that wouldn't do my nails, but have never found one that seemed open to using colored polish. A couple didn't even offer clear. The nail tech I go to now always offers clear polish, and gives the best massage of any I've been to. One day I will ask her about trying a color. I definitely really enjoy pedicures though, even with only clear polish.

  3. Another clog lover here too! I love a nice wooden sole, platform high heel clog. Actually I like most any type of clogs and have several pair that I wear. They're great "unisex" shoes. Comfortable, convenient to slip on, what's not to like?

  4. Wish the nail place I went to would get some of the BB Couture men's polish you're talking about! Have always wanted to try a color, but have always chickened out and gotten clear. What area of the US are you in HappyFeat?

  5. Another clog lover here. Anything from traditional wooden clogs, to Dansko, to the popular rubber ones. I especially like wooden ones, have several pair from 2" up to 4". Have worn the old Candies style before also, and really like them too. Something about a wooden sole underfoot that I really like. Oh, and that zoccoli site has some reeaally cool shoes!

  6. Had to look a little bit to find the boots you were talking about, but they are definitely very nice! I really like them also. I may have to go to Payless, they have a few new styles I really like. Those Seem like a great choice for a first try at street heeling. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

  7. Has anyone here ever tried real Dutch wooden shoes? I know that John Denver had a pair (given to him as a gift).

Nope, never have here. For whatever reason, I love wooden soled shoes (clogs, heels with wood soles, etc) but have never really liked traditional Dutch wooden shoes. High heeled wooden clogs and sandals are the best, but for "normal" wear, I love my Danskos and Bastad clogs.

  8. Went to a local adult shop yesterday, and they were having a 50% off sale on all their shoes. It was pretty empty, so when the sales girl asked me if I needed any help, I kind of nervously started asking her about the shoes (size availability, etc). There were three I really liked, so I asked her if they had any in an 11 or 12. Not even batting an eye, she went back and found the first one and brought it out. She handed me the box, and said "you can try those on first, while I look for the others". I never said they were for me, but she obviously knew, and it was just like I was any old person trying on shoes. The first ones were a little small. When she returned, she said they didn't have any of the others in my size (bummer). She asked if I had tried the first ones, and I told her they were a little small. She said hold on, and a minute later was back with the next size up. She waited as I tried them, and commented about how good they looked. I walked in them a little bit to make sure they were comfortable. She made a couple other suggestions that they had in my size, but nothing that I really liked.

Bottom line, I ended up with a new pair of heels, these and had a thoroughly great experience! Note the pic is from some other website, as I haven't taken any pics yet.

The sales girl was super friendly, non-judgemental, and extremely helpful! I'll definitely go back there in the future!

  9. I LOVE clogs!! Prefer wooden, but have several pairs of Danskos too. There are a bunch of higher heel wooden clogs out there too. I have a pair of 4 inch clogs that are so comfortable. Like someone else said, something about a backless pair of shoes, and especially with wooden soles!

  10. I find toe rings to be very sexy. To me, nothing better than to see a nicely pedicured set of female toes with a toe ring or two in some sort of open toe, high heel shoe.
