  1. Well, of course, nails break, so mine are never all the same length:mecry:At the moment, my little finger nails are both 9mm free from the nail bed and my thumbs are about 7mm free, others are variable between 9mm and about 3mm ( the most recent to break!). I always wear clear nail varnish and for the office I just take the high gloss off by rubbing over with a fibreglass brush on Monday mornings. Friday nights I clean it all off and redo them for the weekend. A tip for when they get long enough to paint properly...use one of the Sally Hansen nail hardening products and paint the INSIDE of the nail with several coats. Its doesn't notice and makes them much more rigid and resistant to splitting.

  2. I used to live and work in Worksop ( near Sheffield for those who don't know). I knew a lady who worked at the local college and for some strange reason at that time they had a lot of students from Singapore. One day one of these students said to her, "Mrs Scott, can you help me please?" "Every morning when I meet somebody they say, " Ayoop dook", and I can't find Ayoop in the dictionary anywhere." To translate... "Ayoop" is the local pronunciation of "Hey up" and means, effectively, "Hallo". Similarly..."dook" = "duck" and is used fairly indiscriminately by both sexes, to both sexes, to imply friendliness. To return to the subject of individual words, one which got me trouble once was the use of the word 'bomb'. Aside from the military hardware, I believe in the US to say something has bombed means it is a disaster, but if we say something 'went a bomb', we mean it was a great success.

  3. As I said in my intro, I've recently returned to wearing heels after a quite a long break. This is with my wifes full consent and encouragement but it is still early days. This afternoon we called into a Matalan just for a browse around, not looking for anything in particular, and found they had a sale on. She spotted some snakeskin shoes with a ruffled strap around the ankle, a 1/2" concealed platform and 5&1/4 " heel. "Do you like those?" she said, "You can have them if you want." We found a pair in my size and then I said, "Don't you want some as well?" "Wouldn't you mind?", "No, I'd love it" So we ended up buying a pair of 7's and a pair of 3's! The guy on the checkout didn't even blink as he swiped them through! As we left the shop with a big grin on her face she said, "I've bought you a pair of shoes, it feels really good."

  4. We are off on holiday to sunny shores in a few weeks and a few days ago I was just browsing through e-bay to see if I could see some cheap discrete wedge mules that I might be able to wear on the beach if we found a secluded spot. My wife asked what I was looking for, so I told her. She came and looked over my shoulder just as I clicked away from a really nice pair with 'jewels' and sequins on. "Those were nice." she said. "Don't you think they are bit obvious?" " No, I'd let you wear those on the beach, no problem. I like them and if I like them, you can have them.".... They arrived today!!!:)

  5. Just a little bit about me. I've been at this, one way and another, most of my adult life, starting with my mothers heels when I was in my early teens. For various reasons I stopped wearing heels about 8 years ago but have recently rediscovered the pleasure. I can wear 3" all day without even noticing them and 4" for several hours ( and am working on that!). I wear 2" cuban heels( male type) to the office and have recently managed to get a pair of trainers with built in 3" heels which I wear all the time otherwise. I would love to work up to ballet boots, but that will take some time I think. Take care all.
