  1. Yes, a parallel link was what I had in mind. Going with a sling back would avoid the angle problem on the back of the upper... Screw jack would be safest as well as allowing people with one short leg or a crooked back to wear them with out heel spacers. The real trick is to make them pretty to look at, or just throw in the towel and admit they are only trainers.

  2. I am in control of what my shoes will be made out of, and it will not be traditional or standard. I am thinking I want the insoles to be similar to what is typical on you typical lucite or clear acrylic "stripper heels" platforms. I am thinking my first designs will be strapped sandal types. I will have to go with leather uppers to do a more enclosed toe and foot in the future. I wonder if including some gel pads in the insole for comfort would be good?

  3. Keep in mind that the soles and heels will be made out of metal by precision machines. I design machinery to exact tolerances everyday, I don't think making them the same height will be a problem, unless there is some special definition to your use of the phrase "the same height" that I am not understanding...

  4. Check this out http://www.notaboutnormal.com/blog/?p=23 a lot more foot detail than you need but it is the concept. If you look up "life casting" you will find info on making cast body parts using a quick setting alginate gel. You mix up a bucket full of alginate then dunk your foot in for like 20-30 mins. the gel in the bucket goes to the thickness of a jell-o jiggler and you can flex it enough to get your foot out without messing up the mold. You then pour plaster into the mold right away (the alginate mold will dry out and wither within hours) and when the plaster sets you peel off the alginate. The tricky part is the rig to hold your foot in "standind in heels" pose for 20-30 mins.

  5. I think I could make a pair of heels that would have a screw jack as the heel or perhaps a telescopic tube with different length settings (like holes in a belt). They would be very tech looking but they could be adjusted to be higher and higher, up to the limit before you would to go to a ballet style. I would have a flexible section or hinge just behind the ball of the foot and an adjustable connecting rod to keep the heel perpendicular to the ground throughout the different adjusted heights. I could put interchangable heel tips to emulate everything from wedge heels up to an ice pick! What do you think?

  6. Yes, I read his post from last year conversing with another member on the subject. I have a totally different approach in mind. I am thinking about making heels from sheet metal (with some sort of insole pads) I particularly like the design concept of having a pad for the ball of your foot, and a seperate pad for the heel, but nothing where the arch is. The method of manufacture I will use will make it quite easy to build, the hard part is in the design and more specifically the sizing.

  7. If I wanted to make a size 7 shoe, how do I know how big that is to make the shoe? I have seen something called a shoe form, but not anything that would work for heels. I know the best way would be to make a plaster cast of the wearers foot, preferably posed as if the foot had the shoes on. I wish I had a 3D laser scanner I could use to make virtual models of the intended wearers feet! I wonder if shoe stretchers could be used as an sort of adjustable form? Any Cobblers out there?

  8. Hello heel lovers! Just wanted to introduce my self, I am a long time lover of high heels and sheer nylon of all sort and I am glad to meet all of you. One of my most heel related hobbies is making Photoshop Artwork , mostly desktop wallpapers for computers and Playstation 3, that relates to high heels, sheer nylons, and pretty feet/toes. I will do requests and I would be more than willing to post up some of my work for you all to enjoy and use. I have a great appreciation for women that wear high heels for extended periods. I find that level of dedication and love for the heels highly admirable. There is also just something about the aroma of fine leather shoes that is just sublime. I am not into wearing heels myself, which would be difficult anyway considering my size 13 US feet, but I do have a pair of 5.5" black pumps (no platform) size 7 that I rescued form a used clothing store. I look forward to chatting with you all!
