I have to jump in here... That so-called doctor repeated a myth that just won't die - that heels are bad for you in almost every way. This is wrong. It's a generalization of the same kind that prejudice and similar are built on - manipulative and false. These are the facts: 1) Feet are different. Some can wear nothing but UGGs or whatever sensible shoes and still get bunions, hammer toes and so on. Others can wear heels all the time and you cannot pick their feet out of a lineup if your life depended on it. 2) It's not the height, nor the shape of the toe box or how thick the heels are that matter, it's how you wear them. Badly fitting shoes will damage your feet over time, heels or not. Too small or too big are equally bad. 3) The overall best height is in the 2-3 inch area. Not flats. It gives a better posture and less strain on the back. Your feet might be less than optimal but your back will thank you. 4) Change is good. Don't wear the same shoes all the time. Don't wear the same height of heels all the time. Change everything all the time. There were more but these were the most important ones. The source was an article I read in a printed copy of the Journal of the AMA perhaps 20-25 years ago.

Here's young Dakota Fanning in some high wedges... Normally I'm a stiletto guy that prefers pumps or sandals with no platform and a high, thin heel (as high as possible), but the many wedges we see everywhere these days (at least here in Denmark) have made me appreciate the more stylish ones, and these high (5 inch?) wedges with a narrow wedge and a somewhat pointed toe are quite nice! Anyone know the name and style of these?

If you stare at someone and this person notices, a witty comment often is: "Why don't you take a picture? It'll last longer!" - and that is exactly what we do here! Now, snapping a picture is not the same as publishing it in a public place, like here. In most countries you can legally take all the pictures you like as long as both you and the subject in on public property, but publishing usually requires the consent of the subject, preferably in writing (a so-called release form). Now there are exceptions. Anonymized pictures or anonymous pictures (face not visible) are usually allowed (which is what we do here), as are pictures of either artistic nature or that have newsworthy nature. So I think we have several reasons why this thread is legally okay in most countries. As for the morality of snapping the pics without prior consent - In my opinion we're not doing anything that are pushing privacy boundaries. It happens in public and it's not like we're photographing up women's dresses or similar. It just pics of some shoes plainly visible to everybody nearby. It's pretty innocent in my opinion.

Kinda funny you should say that. A few years back when these pics mostly were taken she wore heels quite often. She's a trained ballerina after all so has both the flexibility and the foot strength to make heels a complete no-hassle. She can really do the famous toe-stand (legendarily faked in "Titanic") where she supports her whole weight on the tips of her bare feet toes - I've seen it.Nice selection there. You don;t see a lot of photos with Neve in heels.I love the business suit look with the strappy heels.
She stopped dancing due to injuries before she got known for her acting (about a year before "Party of Five") but resumed training when she got positive feedback for her semi-autobiographical script entitled "Red Shoes". A few years later she was ready and Robert Altman directed the re-titled "The Company" with Neve as the female lead. As opposed to Natalie Portman in "Black Swan" who used a dance double extensively, Neve did all her own dancing. But the cost was high and new injuries caused Neve to take it extremely easy and that meant little or no heels. Unfortunately that habit stuck and now she rarely wears heels.
(I know all this because I've known Neve personally for almost two decades now, from way before she became really famous. I'm a friend of the family and have stayed privately with both Neve's older brother Christian, Neve's mother Marnie and of course Neve herself)

I keep getting annoyed whenever this myth surfaces... High heels DOES NOT cause deformed feet, but shoes too small (or too big) can, regardless of heel. Posh has been wearing shoes too small for a long time and recently (past few years) switched to shoes too big. Both are bad because pressure gets applied to the toes sideways in limited areas.It's sad that her feets are so damaged and that it might be due to her constantly wearing heels but I just couldn't help but drool all over my copy of the magazine when I saw the pics featuring all her YSL heels..
Wearing heels the truly fit does not cause any damage to the feet themselves, even very high heels. Check out Dita Von Teese's feet. She's always in high heels (5+ inches), both professionally and private, and she does not have deformed feet which is evident the few times she appears barefoot, like in her burlesque show (fully nude except pasties). But she has always taken care to get shoes that fit correctly and perfectly, and I'm sure she's happy about it today, several decades down the line of her high heel career.

Such a pity that the lighting was so bad that you couldn't see that she was wearing ballet boots. She has said that a repeat perfromance is possible early next month with better lighting. Still a staggering achievement though.
Can anyone provide more info on this video? - Who's the amazing girl, what was the venue and so on?

A few days earlier at 'The Burning Plain' premiere in Paris, France on March 2, 2009, Charlize Theron wore these similar but different 6" heels... Again the resizing is extreme to fit the limits here. Sorry about that!

Now I got attachments to work! - Had to resize the pics in an extreme way and lower the jpg quality in order for them to be accepted. The attachment filesize limit and the IMG tag ban makes it hard for me to post all the very high quality photos I continously get from celebrity events. These pics for instance were 2362x3543 in size originally and just under 1MB in filesize.

Here we have someone who sometimes wear pretty nice heels although somewhat inconsistently (too often flats even at red carpet events), but here she really made my day! - Yes, that's a least 6" and it was just three days ago in Paris, France!

Just how high are those heels? - There's a bit of platform but I'd guess at an effective height of just over 5" (the platform makes it 6" I think).

Well, one thing is when it is recommended to start wearing tall heels, another is what's going on out there... Last spring (april I think) at the very old amusement park "Dyrehavsbakken" north of Copenhagen I saw two girls, obviously close friends, aged about 10-11 or so, both wearing at least 4" heels, one in somewhat chunky boots, the other in true stiletto heeled boots with pointed toes. They were both fairly adept at wearing them (they even did a bit of running in them!) and the rest of their outfits matched the shoes, i.e. pretty adult-looking with belly showing below a tight top and so on. I did not see any parents and it seemed like they were on their own (the parents were probably at a restaurant somewhere else in the park - pretty common). I doubt I encountered the only such girls in the world so I have to assume that girls even that young gets attracted to the lure of high heels. Now, should we say no if our girls that age really wants to wear heels (and maybe either 'lose them' or make them wear the heels in secret) or should we allow it and offer our guidance?

I stumbled across a new photoset for Blender featuring this well-known 'burlesque' model, and in it she wear her usual ultraheels. I particular like this picture where you really can appreciate her flexibility... Yes, she wears these and similar to general events, like movie premieres etc. and I have yet to see her wear shoes with lower heels than 4" or so. I have great resources... I can get almost any press photo at a few days notice, often less than a day after the event... I have about 600 of Gwen alone. The one I posted a resized version of was part of a set of 19 from just that 'event' (which lasted perhaps 10-15 seconds in real time).Anyone got any more Gwen pictures?
And Per - how do you get hold of those high quality press pictures? Must be a great resource?

A typical size of a 'raw' JPEG press photo like that is 2133x3250 pixels and 2122595 bytes and that's what we're talking about. Some sets come in even higher resolutions; 3500x4500 pixels and more than 5 mb in filesize is not uncommon.
But enough about that. I'll be happy to post a few from events here if there's a high heel to be shown. Just ask and I'll see what I can find. Beware that I'll be posting the full size image (and thumbs here in the forum) so it'll be either the thumb or the huge image if you want to look...

Anyone see Gwen Stefani on Jonathon Ross last night. Wow she looked hot! She was wearing a gorgeous pair of 5" stiletto courts. She also had on apair of footless white tights but with a stirup to go under the foot. She actually had this under the shoe. Different but I think I prefer normal hose. Must be a bit of a job to get the shoes on though.
