  1. At home in private. Occasionally at the office when I am by myself. Too chicken to go public because that will be the time when I run into someone my wife or I know and this would cause the Mrs. to become very angry...

  2. I prefer the lace up oxford style, but I wear a larger size and here is what I found.

I bought a pair of Ellie brand - Amber 557's with a 5 inch heel and 1 1/2 inch platform for a net heel height of 3.5 inches- size 14 fit me very well. This is a thicker heel and a rounded toe.

I then wanted to go to a higher heel so I bought the Ellie Oxford 652 model with a 6.5 inch heel with a 2.5 inch platform for a net heel height of 4 inches, again in size 14. These were very tight. I think this was because the toes were pointy on the Oxford 652 and round on the Amber 557.

Unfortunately size 14 is the largest size Ellie makes in this model. After speaking with the customer service rep of Beverly Heels (the folks here have been wonderfully helpful) I purchased the Pleaser model 560 in size 15. These have a 5 1/4 inch stiletto type heel and a 1.5 inch platform for a net heel height of 3.75 inches. It wasnt quite as high a heel as I wanted, but they fit great.

I did note that moving up that 1/4 inch and going to a stilletto type heel, these are a bit harder to walk in, but they sure do look great.

I also noted and this was confirmed by the cust service rep that the heel and platform heights that are quoted by the manufacturer are not exact.

Not quite on topic, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
