  1. Cheers guys. It's nice to see that I'm not forgotten :) Well, I still live in London and I've been running my own little IT consulting company for 2.5 years now. The incident on my private server was a nice lesson... Always have more than one way of making data backups ! There was only one chatroom I've ever been into, that was Jenny's. I don't know what the other "regulars" are up to now but I do think about this happy time very often. Life is like this sometimes. You just happen to meet certain people at a particular time and this gives you new directions in life. Without this chatroom, my life would have been different now. I'm so glad I happened to be part of this adventure. If there was a time machine, I'd probably jump back in time, just for 5mn, just to feel again this unique humane atmosphere. Ah.... have you forgotten that I'm a nostalgic :o Thanks, Phil

  2. Hi there... It's been ages, but memories are still intact. I am THE ONE who was hosting Jenny's site on a private server. In fact, Jenny's site was for quite some time hosted on a free web hosting company (netdump or something like that) but because of the capacity and speed (it was really slow and often down), I offered her to host her website onto my brand new private server and a 1meg ADSL business line, a real race horse at that time (2000-2001). I was living in Paris and paid all that equipment myself, the line was provided by my parents' company. We wanted this site to be free so we've never asked a penny from anyone... This was working fine, then I permanently moved to England in November 2001. I was doing my best to maintain the server remotely. Unfortunately, in July 2003, a critical hardware failure occured on the server. There was a RAID 5 disk array on that server, and one disk failed. During a brief visit in France, I tried to fix it but something bad happened when replacing the faulty disk: a SCSI ID conflict corrupted for good the whole volume and the backups were unusable (my mistake there, I should have made restore tests on a regular basis). So, the server was gone for good... I was so ashamed of this. So many pictures were losts especially Jane's and Debbie's galleries. I am now happy to see Jenny's site back online and feel bad that I cannot provide the missing galleries. Maybe one day, I will find them on a media that I left in France? I do visit my parents two or three times a year so there's still a chance. Unfortunately, I do not stay very long each time so I can never look thoroughly everywhere. Now, looking back, this site was a source of inspiration and an important part of my life. I've met extraordinary people such as Jenny, Bubba, Tom, Crystal, Debbie, Sacha, FireFox, Francis (forgive me if I do not mention some others) and spent hours every day communicating with them. One of them (Bubba knows who) became my girlfriend in real life for some time. We still communicate sometimes by email. There was more than heels and now, despite having a totally different life, I could never thank those people enough for what they've brought to me. Thanks for everything, all the best and Merry Christmas. Phil.

  3. Hi there... It's been a very long time since my last appearance here. Just wanted to say that lots of things happened here in London, the company I was working for has been shutdown, I started mine instead, and I got married in December 2002. All these things slowly drifted me apart from Jenny's site maintenance, I'm so sorry about that. however you can be sure that I keep an eye on the server and make sure it delivers the content that lots of heels lovers / websurfers appreciate. Otherwise, there seem to have more and more stiletto heels in London, mostly boots, but they're definitely back ! The pleasure for the eyes is really cool. I hope everybody's fine, and all Jenny's chatroom veterans (Debbie, Jenny, Bubba, Tom, Firefox, Francis, and the others I don't name here...) are all well. Take care, Pheels.

  4. Hi there....

No, i'm not dead. Still in Britain though

As many of you have noticed, Jenny's site had been unavailable.

The reason this time was my dad, who thought we were spending too much money for the ADSL line and decided to downgrade the line from 1meg to 512k. Without advising me, he asked the ISP to proceed with the downgrade as as the result, the server was no more reachable. I had to yell at him and ask him to rollback, which he did 2 weeks ago, unfortunately, the ISP engineers modified the connections between the server / router / ADSL modem and after long hours on the phone with my brother and dad, I decided to come back to Paris for 1 day to fix the problem.

So.... On tuesday 1st October 2002, I came back and fixed everything.

Now, the server is reachable again, at the same address http://193.251.60.36/jenny as before.

My sincere apologizes for all that, I take full responsability for what happened....

    Phil.

  5. Hi there, Well, it had to happen someday. My server in Paris encountered a hardware failure last week, I checked things with my dad over the phone and it's likely that the server power supply has died. A replacement power supply has been ordered and I expect to have it on thursday or friday this week. My brother will then replace it with my assistance. I know, it sucks but it's not the end of the world, this machine has been up 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for 4 years now. The operating system has not been re-installed since 1998. Just for the story, I wanted a redundant power supply for the server when I bought the machine but in 1998, that was so expensive because only Compaq, HP and other similar manufacturers were offering this (as an option). I will let you know when the machine will be back online, and I'm very sorry for all this.

  6. Ah, Jeff is lucky.... 4mbps is a dream that I won't see over here. The stuff is NTL is having lots of debts now, so I don't expect them to massively spend money on network equipments. I had to call them today for a billing issue, and gosh.... How many numbers did I have to dial before getting a sale representative. I saw the DSL (from Mistral ISP) in Central London and I believe it's working great, much better than the cable ! But what can I say, I "only" pay £25 a month for the cable Internet...

  7. Hi there,

If like me, you're using the internet cable from Blueyonder in the area of London, here's how to boost up the speed (it's now blasting for me !)

I've been very disappointed when I signed up for the internet cable from Blueyonder, it was so slow and impossible to use from 5.30Pm to 10pm, even with my own proxy server. But this has changed a lot since I forced the Internet Settings to use Gatwick's proxy. In your Internet Explorer's settings (Connection tab), specify cache-gat.cableinet.co.uk with the port number 8080

You will see the difference !

I have my own proxy server at home so I chained mine (upstream array) with Gatwick's and a backup route to Croydon in case of failure.

For more informations about Blueyonder's proxies, go to :

    Happy surfing !

  8. Those plats we see nowadays ?? B) No way I would stare at those ugly mistakes of creation. That's a fashion experience that went awry. Maybe would it be a way for me to compensate my weight if I get skinny though ??

  9. Here's my profile then... Name: Philippe Age: 28 Gender: M Location: Belsize Park, London, UK Occupation: IT : Systems & Network Engineer (M$, Cisco, Citrix) Height: 1.54m (about 5'5) Weight: 58 kg Shoe size: 39 Euro (6 UK ?) What's your favourite heel style: Stiletto (no blades) What's your favourite shoe style: courts without plats Do you wear your heels outside: Used to, a couple of times What is: (a) Your favourite heel height: 5" (B) Your highest heel height: 6" How often do you wear: Not a lot anymore.... Lost all my heels collection during my move from France to the UK B) Do you wear socks, hose, stockings or bare feet with your shoes: hmm, depends on my mood ! Anything else you wish to add: Can't wait to see my high heeled girlfriend !!!

  10. Well, Moscow is a bit like comparing Paris and Marseille if you see what I mean, there's a kind of competition between the 2 cities as St Petersburg used to be a russian tsars' capital. I've never been to Moscow, but I believe the heels scene should be at least identical to St Petersburg.... They love heels over there, trust me mate ! I will ask me girlfriend, huh, yes.... She's Russian and will be visiting me in London soon ! I told her to bring her stiletto heels BTW

  11. Yeah, maybe a custom officer decided to keep them for himself. I've been watching around ebay to see if my heels woould have been sold there, but no sign. I'm still investigating. Meawhile, I bought a pair of red stiletto 6" courts from Little Shoe Box. Very good quality and very nice I must admit ! But I still miss my frog's heels

  12. Let me tell you that the place for heels is St Petersburg (Russia). I was amazed about the heels thing over there. Let's say, during a 2 weeks trip in october 2001, I must have seen at least 1 thousand stiletto heels (no plats). Definitely much more impressive than London. The average height was 4.5 / 5" as far as I recall and the heels are mostly boots, not a lot of stiletto courts but anyways.... That made me happy ! I used to travel a lot over the world, but I'eve never been as impressed ! Hmm. Now, it's -30 celsius, so they may be not wearing them a lot at this season.

  13. Hiya, Well, I just want to share with you a very bad experience that happened to me during my move from France to the UK. All my heels collection (+15 pairs of stiletto heels) were in a big parcel that has been sent from France to London just before my move in November 2001. And ??? THE PARCEL IS LOST. Nobody knows where it is, but it's likely that I would never see all the heels I collected for years again. They could reimburse me (insurance) but that would never give me back all those special stilettos I bought in Paris. I can't find the same styles here in England unfortunately. Sad but true...
