  1. I have purchased several pairs of classic shoes which I know are comfortable, but it might be hard to replace. I usually store my "backups" in another closet and only retrieve them if the main pair has fallen apart or cannot take another coat of polish. I have some black slides I wear at least four times a week. I do have two identical backups in the other closet. As far as different colors of the same shoe, yes, I do that all the time. A pair of black heels possibly another pair in a earthtone, but then I might also have a pink, yellow, red or even shade of blue depending on the style of shoe. However, I do not consider them duplicates.

  2. A lot is dependent on the specific work place and location. I have worked in numerous office environments where they had a strict dress code, but I have also worked where the executives wore shorts to work during the hot months. Right now, I can wear anything except for Crocs (which I'm completely fine with, because they are hideous) and cheap rubber flip flops are also out. As far as the five you had linked, any of the five would be appropriate where I work.

  3. For myself, I see no "season", but more of when it is appropriate to wear open toed shoes. My general rule of thumb is to wear open toed shoes until the temperature drops below 35 and even then, I wear a clog or closed toe mule. I get pedicures once a month from November to March and then I get them twice a month from April until October. I wear sandals around the house year round.

  4. Back when I was in the Army (yes, I was in the Army in the early 90s) and we would get orders for deployment (i.e. Desert Storm, Somalia, Bosnia), some of us had "Burn Boxes". These boxes contained personal information which we would want destroyed in the event of our death. Lots of operators used them to store things they didn't want their families or even the higher ups to see. I had one which contained photos of me starting to crossdress and some very personal financial information which could land me in hot water with the IRS. To think about having a burn box now would probably take up the size of a large storage container on a cargo ship. However, everyone knows about my dressing so it wouldn't be near as large as it was 15 years ago.

  5. ok, since size is not an issue for you, but the fact that you have predominately worn boots leads me to make two suggestions. First, there is a big difference in going from a boot with a heel to a sandal with a heel. I suggest you consider buying two pair of sandals. The first pair would be your "trainers" and these would have a heel not higher than 2.5" and would help you get adjusted to wearing an open toed heels. The second pair would be what you want to wear on a regular basis once you have graduated from the trainers.

I would recommend going to www.zappos.com and searching through their sandal collection for size 9s in black and then you can make your own decision. Some of the styles in johnie's post would be great too, but I would make them the second pair. Good Luck!

  6. Hi Mitchell, First, great heels! Secondly, I went through the same issue when I was younger. I had purchased some shoes and then tried to decide how to get them into the house. I opted to leave them in the trunk of my car. When I wanted to wear them, then I would wait for an opportune time to take them into the house. Also, you do not have to share your passion with anyone you choose not to. Although, if confronted by your parents, then fess up. It makes things easier as time goes on.
