  1. I have been wearing 'female' shoes for almost 40 years now and down through the years I have had pointy, square and round toes. Boots of all heights from shoe boots, to ankle, calf, knee and thigh high boots. Some times lace up, zipped or baggy shaft type. Heel height ranges from flats to 4in. The heel type goes from stilleto to block and of course wedges. The point is that your choice of footwear will probably change with the current styles and trends. What looks good today may not look so good in 10years time. Enjoy the trip through the world of 'female' footwear.

  2. Of course, the platform trend will probably be replaced with nothing but flats! That would serve me right then, wouldn't it? LOL

Unfortunately this is a likely scenario. It happened before. Heels were all the rage throughout the eighties when girls wore very high heels often with significant platforms. This was followed by a long period of flats. Not only were heels nowhere to be seen the stores held a very limited stock so it was very difficult to buy a decent pair. If you were to wear them out you were the only one to do so. I found it a very depressing and I hope the flat trend never returns.

  3. A bit of both really! I thoroughly enjoy my masculine lifestyle i.e. going to football matchs, cycling, fishing and kayaking in summer, golf etc. I am good at DIY which I enjoy and am fairly handy with all kinds of tools. Even my occupation (engineering) is perceived to be somewhat masculine. However all the while and particularly in winter I will probably be wearing opaque black tights (hose?) under my jeans with with a pedicure and hairless legs. (My choice of hair removal being epilation for a smoother longer lasting effect.) My public heeling is the icing on my cake.

  4. I the past I would never have considered trying heels on in the shop. Since joining HHplace I have become much more adventurous. Today for example I had a day off work so I travelled to a nearby town where I walked about the town centre wearing my grey patent shoeboots with 4in heel before going on to a large shopping centre. There I had a half hour browsing the different shoe shops. In one I tried on a pair of black patent shoeboot with 3in heel. I didn't buy because they were wide fitting and I like snug fitting only. Had I not tried them on I probably would have taken the chance, bought them only to be dissapointed.

  5. While I voted No, I was already wearing heels outside the site has enabled me to become much more adventurous. I now venture out onto a local high street and at a large outlet shopping centre at a nearby town a couple of times a month and during normal shopping times. Before HHplace my heeling was very infrequent - several times a year and never where I might be seen. When I purchased my last pair of heels I was actually wearing my 2.5" brown ankle boots and tried my new 4" grey patent shoe boots in the shop. It was a wonderful experience and many thanks to the site for boosting my confidence.

You referred to a survey in your post:

When I was checking out the clerk was telling me about a survey I could take, number printed on the receipt.

What was the survey about? Was it anything to do with making women's styles more avilable to men? If so could this group might influence the outcome.

  7. I would suggest you start low and work your way up. There is tremendous satisfaction stepping out in broad daylight in a clearly feminine 2 or 2.5in heel.

You get the feel of the heel under foot, the sound (tock – tock – tock) on the pavement You will get the glances and maybe some comments.

If you go out in the morning say 9.30am the kids will be in school and the other loud mouths still in their bed. At that time you will find mostly decent people going about their business. The chances of bad experiences are much reduced.

    Good luck.

  8. Can't often wear my heels at home - wife and three grown sons - but do it when the opportunity arises. Will occasionally take a trip to nearby towns and go public, usually during morning times when I'm not likely to meet teenagers or other closed minds. The attention drawn by the heels can then be fun.

  9. Have you any stories that you can tell us all about your public high heeling?

    Cheers---

    Dawn HH

    Hi Dawn HH

My heeling has largely been a pure personal joy without much of note.

Like the other guys who go public I get the second glances - which I enjoy - and the odd comment usually from women - which I enjoy even more.

My worst experience occurred on a Saturday afternoon in Belfast city. I was wearing a pair of patent ankle boots with pointed toes and 2.5in stiletto heel under jeans. While waiting to cross the road at a busy junction with lots of pedestrians also waiting to cross a small boy of about 10 years noticed my shoes. He began pointing and screaming loudly "yuk, he's wearing womens shoes, that man's wearing high heels" etc. It was difficult but fortunately the traffic stopped and I was albe to move on.

On another occasion in my early days before I realised that when wearing heels you must shorten your stride my heel slipped from under me - again in the centre of Belfast on a wet Saturday afternoon. Down I went and there I was sitting there with my patent boots with sculpted heel (I think that is the term for a heel which is moved forward along the foot) visible to all. Of course everbody turned to look while I gathered myself and my bags and went on my way. I laughed to myself and probably enjoyed the experience.

Its all part of the learning experience. No more sculpted heels, take shorter strides - especially on wet surfaces -and expect a reaction from small boys.

  10. Hi everyone. I'm new to sites like this so please be patient if I go wrong somewhere. I am male, 55 years of age and have been drawn to high heels since my teens. Being 1.8m tall and slim build I tend to stand if wearing 'high' high heels so I restrict myself to 2inch heels on the odd osassion when I venture out in public. Being tall means that even with wide trousers the heels are on show. I feels good to encounter a community such as this. Best wishes, Gerryjohn
