Dan, maybe you should try a pair of heels (boots give great support). Foot and leg pain is what got me started. Heels were recomended by a pedorthist. Just don't try and wear them all the time, your body will tell you when you need them.
-
Yep, I have been told several times that I look better in heels.
-
Thoes look ok. But, if they are like the platforms I have tried, the toe area is very stiff and hard to break in, it just dosn't bend. A sole about half that thick would be easer to wear.
-
I have been wearing heeled boots in public for many, many years, mostly high spikes, some with very thin tips and pointed toes. But then I meet all the conditions set in the mens form for body mass, hight and shoe size. I do feel that if you don't meet these conditions you should stay away from heels, and most men don't meet them.

Nice! High heel with a cowboy toe, my style.

Where did the "length of foot" measurments come from--what are they? With my foot length (25cm) I should be able to wear a usw 6.5. Well an 8 is my lower limit.
-
Looks fine to me--but I would have liked boots better. But thats just me. Did you have any other comments? I'm starting to think that if your wearing pants some people kind of expect you to wear heels. I've noticed lots of women looking down at my feet even when wearing trainers.
-
I'm with J-Turbo--I don't want it to become mainstream. I'm also with Gene in that I really don't like men (even me) wearing heels, but I do anyway.
-
THBG: This sounds good. Just where did you get the 8899's? I'm guna have to go over to newport and take a look at what they have.
-
I prefer spikes too. However they can be too thin and bend forward to much. I have a pair of 4 1/2" boots that are almost unwareable because of this. They have 6mm steel tips which ware out in 6 mo. or so, and I don't ware them much.
-
The heels really got up there in the 17th and 18th centuries didn't they.
-
Good for you!! And your right, it is a gift, a good one. With your size foot spike boots would look very good. I too can wear a usw 8 and they do look good with 4" or higher heels.

Here is something intresting. http://www.siue.edu/COSTUMES/history.html
Try the 17th and 18th century (I think). Neat pictures.

I remember a "Time" piece about the heels some time in the early 70's. One fellow comented he could trip running for a cab in his heels and strangle him self when his beads caught on the door handle. I was to old for that craze, besides they didn't appeal to me, to blocky looking. But when the tapered heel womens boots came out about that time I went nuts, they have been my style ever sence.

Dawn: Greetings from south west ohio. At 63 I'm just a little younger. I've been wearing heeled boots for about 20 years, serious spike heeled ones, in public. Infact I don't have any dress shoes that arn't heeled. For example on xmas eve I went to two church services and one party in 4 1/2" spikes, with 6mm steel tips. No hideing them! There just isn't any problem doing this, you don't have to hide it anymore. Things are changing fast.

In fact I can't do it at all, my heels lock about 4" off the floor. They say you should be able to squat (crouch) flat footed (heels on the floor) but I have never been able to. I was surprised to find out this ability was considered normal.
-
US womens as far as I know, and some seem to run at least 1/2 size tight, if made in south america. Unless they are mens sizes, then us mens.
-
Great boots! The kind all us guys should be wearing.
-
I agree Anita, btw I loved your and turbo-j's run below. It was closed b4 I got a chance to respond.
-
Yep, men can't wear heels, thats what JJ or whatever his name is says. As for platforms I think they look big & bulky and draw more attention than a nice pointed toe stiletto. Each time I have tried them I have been disipointed.
-
Anita is right, if you put up a lightening rod you will get struck sooner or later. I have been several times, hard. Just keep it steady as she goes and it will work out. It is said one of the best ways to develop self confidence is to do something eccentric and learn to live with the fallout. Wearing heels is a good activity for this.

Driving in heels has never been a problem, easer in fact than in flats. Platforms however have proved to be more dificult, less pedal feel. This is with a five speed and rather frisky V8.
-
Well TXT-1 I do have some dyslexia and slight ADD, it does cause you to see things differently. A frend, a teacher, once commented on the ADD and added "just look at your high heels". This whole thing is most likely a right brain activity.

Good for you spikes. I too was out today, all over a large department store and then a grocery store all the time wearing boots with a 3 1/2" tapered heel (well under an 1"). The heel was fully exposed under my genes. No problems what ever, but then I didn't notice. The more we guys do these thing the easer it will be for the rest of us. Just remember heels have been a male thing for nearly 400 years, its the women who are the new comers.
What is the purpose of this board?

I confess that I do have a slight problem with men who want their women friends to wear heels but won't do it themselves. Kind of wimping out I think.
