  1. Hi Larry, thanks for your message. It would be good to chat with you about wearing heels in public. Perhaps we could even arrange to go out together sometime, I live in NW Phoenix. Far enough, but not too far. Let's chat more in PM if you would like.

I've given up trying to shop locally, as it's so difficult to find size 12 in styles that I like, so I make all my purchases online these days. I have been fairly successful in getting heels that fit without trying them on first. It's a long time since I have been to Smokin Lingerie, and I had not even heard of Fetish Falls, so perhaps I should check them out.

    Welcome!

I live in Mesa and have lived Phoenix/Mesa all of my life.

It is great to see another guy here from AZ who has worn heels in public. I would love to hear more about that as I start to venture out and about.

Just curious, where do you shop for size 12 heels? I have been to Smoken Lingerie in Scottsdale, Fetish Falls, in Tempe, and, of course, Payless.

    See ya around,

    Larry

  2. Thanks for your suggestion chrisr, that sounds like a good idea, and I would like to try a similar modification, although I haven't worn the boots very much and there is no significant collapse so far. What I'm not sure about is how to bolt the strengthening piece to the internal steel strip without the bolt heads protruding inside and outside of the boot. Could you provide some more details - also what guage of steel did you use for the strengthening piece?

I think the cheaper bbs are always prone to collapsing the toebox. The more you wear them the worse it will get.

On my first pair after I'd adjusted the heel height to get the heel vertical (see other posts about this) the first time I wore them for any time the toebox scrunched up (by about 5mm) and put the heel all wrong again. I was annoyed.

So, I made a flat-s-shaped strip of steel and fitted it into the toe of the boots, bolting it to the steel strip that runs down from the heel. I made it long enough to force out the toe again.

This does 2 things: it stops the toebox collapsing and - providing you feet are tight fit in the boot - removes some of the direct load on your toe-ends. Makes the boots much easier to wear.

It took me about half-a-day to do.

  3. Thank you for your welcome Dr Shoe and Bubba. I'm in Phoenix, lived here about 20 years. I have been out shopping in heels but not for several years. I used to wear long jeans over my heels, so I don't think anyone really noticed, but it was a great experience. Also, once or twice I have tried on women's shoes in stores, but it's difficult to find my size (US womens 12). I hope that I will be able to go out more often, perhaps with support from other AZ members. I wear heels around the house often. I'm divorced and live alone. My ex-wife did not approve.

  4. Hi, I recently bought a pair of Devious 2020 boots. I love the fit of the boots, but like others have found that the heel is higher than the toe, forcing the leg to lean forward and making them almost impossible to walk in. Also, although the lacing holds my feet firmly in place, the toes tend to squish a little, making the problem worse. I have stuffed some old pantyhose into the toes, which helps, and will be ordering some gel toes caps as recommended by others. I've seen suggestions in this forum both for cutting the heel, and raising the height of the toe. I prefer the latter as I don't want to risk ruining the boots or damaging the heel covering, and anyway I want the heels as high as possible (they are nearly 8" in size 12). One suggestion was to glue a rubber door stopper to the toe, but I can't find anything suitable that does not spoil the appearance of the boots. Does anyone have any other suggestions how to do this while preserving the appearance of the boots? I'm thinking about possibly building up the toes with several layers of neoprene rubber sheet cut to shape and glued in place. Any ideas will be much appreciated.

  5. Hi everyone, I just recently found this site and am very pleased so find so many folks that share my interest in high heels, as well as all the useful information posted by members. I am a long time wearer of heels - bought my first, a pair of platform boots, in my twenties, and have owned many heels, both shoes and boots, since then. I currently have about 15 pairs. I also like to wear pantyhose or tights with my heels. My preference is for very high heels, both single sole and platform. I enjoy the challenge of learning to walk in ever higher heels and have become quite adept. I can walk well in 6 inch single sole stilettos or 8.5 inch platforms, and want to push my limits further. I recently bought my first pair of ballet boots - more on that in the appropriate forum. Looking forward to joining in the discussions on this site.
