  1. I found out this story a minute ago, found the photo sets on Flickr and when I rushed to post it here, I found out that there is a solid thread already dealing with the race. You guys are fast! as fast as the winner of the stiletto run ... :D

  2. Finally, I know there are people that like the damaged shoe look. Ever seen anything like this? These shoes are cast from metal and attached to the stone as some kind of art. You can see the bolts where one of them has been removed.

This "kind of art" is a holocaust memorial for Budapest's jews. During 1944-1945 groups of jews, were lined up on the bank of the Danube river, by Hungarian Militiamen, facing the river and executed, with the bodies floating away. The shoes symbolizes the emptiness which they left on the pier. Recently some vandals removed some of the shoes which were bolted to the pier.

A very good picture can be found here

You can read about more about it and the sabotage here

  3. Ok, I'll have to add my contribution in heberw:

In hebrew it's "Akevim Gvo-him" (plural) for high heels or "Akev Gavoha" in singular. Akev is heel and Gavoh is high. below you can see how it looks in Hebrew characters (which are read right to left...)

Or if I try to write directly in heberw:

    עקבים גבוהים

(I wonder if your browser shows something similar to the graphic above)

  4. Hi,

The New York Times, as respectable newspaper has done some street shots. They sent photographer to the streets of NY and Paris. Here is the collage photo as it appears in the NY Times fashion magazine

Here is the text (too small to read on the original picture):

"An eclectic mix of shoes is seen in Paris, right, and New York, left. The platform wedge is a favorite in both cities. The debate over 1930's round toe vs. 1950's pointed toe goes on. New York kicks up its heels in fur and rhinestone for evenings. High style in late 1940's Paris is echoed in ankle-high designs."

  5. I was browsing through Amazon, browsing, when I stumbled on a great list. They have a great feature called Listmania where poeple publish themed lists of books they liked. Anyway, I found this list called List Full of Shoes by The Curious Miss Daze, fuzzy slipper.

I'd love to own some of the books there. Wish list includes the Manolo Blahnik book, Shoes: Objects of Art and Seduction ($85!!! :D ) and a few more....

  6. Great work, Trolldeg! :D The "leather" shines beautifully, and I love the extra eyelets on the oxfords. I'd like to own a pair like this... In the meanwhile, beofre I own a pair, I wanted to use both images (Boots and oxfords) as my wallpaper. I've asked you this before, in another thread with virtual shoes, could you render these in 1024x768? thanks!

  7. A while ago I saw a movie called "Jet lag" (and in a plane, of all places...) which is the english name for a french movie called "Décalage horaire". Its a romantic comedy with a french chic, telling the story of a worn-out businessman (Jean Reno) and a beautician on the run (Juliette Binoche) which collide in a Paris airport and at the end fall in love.

Here is the reason I mention this film here:

Binoche walks around the whole film wearing these great slingbacks. She takes them off in a hotel room scene and then she walks on her toes as if she is can't walk without heels. I wonder if this is something she added to her role or if is the way she walks.

Here are more "heely" photos from the movie and the set:

  8. I know weve all heard heelfan etc saying noone cares, but its either location and people in certain areas arent bothered, or we care to notice more than these lads do, because i seem to feel the same as in exitmans tale.

I tend to agree. I've read lots of street-heeling stories here, and I guess that once you wear your heels outside more frequently, than you'll be more fluent, walk more naturally, attract less attention and if you do, you'll be impassive to responses.

But, to me, exitman1's story represents my feelings about this, more than the rest of the gang clicking happily on every street :D. Don't fold in, Exitman!!!

  9. Simply AMAZING stuff High Surprise!!

I can't stand the suspense! How can I go on unless I know more? AAAAAaaaaargh! The suspense!

    Heelfan,

Suspense and stress are modern day killers. Instead of biting your fingernails, you can go to http://www.jbvideo.com/shopjb.html (site contains nudity

It seems that JB video is a studio which produces fetish films. I tried to find out what the JB stands for, but all I could do is find an interview with JB, the guy which is the studio. One thing which was important for him to state was:

In a world dominated by men running adult websites, JB chose a woman to be the webmistress of his pantyhose empire.

  10. If I may go back to the opening question :( I have seen "Secretary" and liked it. From a heely perspective the opening scene, if I recall correctly, will leave an impact. But the rest of the movie is a bit different. It is a romantic comedy but with a twist. It takes the familiar theme of the romantic comedy but between two people with a need to control. It has some S&M themes in it and it's a good movie to watch but don't expect steamy sex scenes or something like this.

  11. Here is a new album cover for the french singer Alizée (album is called "Mes courants électriques"). It's eruo-pop (IMHO, not worth getting).

She's 18 now, after being discovered (discovered is a strong word, picked by a producer is more correct) 3 years ago. She had an album with a hit called "Moi...Lolita". Now I guess she wants to show she's grown so here's a high heel shoe to suggest she's a mature woman now

Here's a task: Let's see if we can find more album covers with heels...
