  1. If you went to the prom...what did you wear with your dress? What made you get them? What did your date think? What would you wear now if you were going to the prom again?

Satin pumps with 3" heels. They were dyed to match my dress, periwinkle satin sheath. My date was speechless. Probably wear a strappy metalic stiletto today.

  2. Sure, taking the weight off one foot at a time and stretching your calf muscles in the way you described provides some relief also rotating your ankles. I can't stress how important it is to keep your calf muscles stretched.

I just avoid standing for long periods myself and I mean seriously avoid it.

I make sure my shoes fit properly and I also rarely wear pointy shoes.

Having another pair that you can change into during the day helps but best of all is to have someone to massage your feet when you get home.

    :winkiss:

Is the foot message an extra that only comes with more expensive heels?

  3. Wearing heels at work involves lots of standing in one place. What's your favorite way to get relief for your feet and legs? I find that shifting my balance to one foot and straightening the other foot, so the heel is parallel to the floor, stretches my calf and gives my toes a chance to wiggle. The pointed toe in the air is also kinda sexy.

  4. How do keep your shoes from getting all scuffed up when your at your desk.

Be careful how you sit and place your feet. Don't slouch. Put both feet flat on the floor or cross your ankles under the chair. Biggest problem is avoiding the legs of a swivel chair. They scuff the backs of heels something awful.

  5. I never take my heels off . In fact I love dancing with my heels on . I feel so sexy . That's why you should always plan ahead . If you know there's dancing or you might have to stand . You should break in your heels, or find your most comfortable heels to wear . ;-)

The way heels make you move on the balls of your feet is so graceful. Dancing is such a lovely experience, both the movement and the visual: coordinated partner movements, sexy outfits, flowing skirt, etc. Heels complete the picture for me.

All heels need some breaking in, but the dance floor is not the place. Once I wear new heels around the house, I know which ones to wear for an romantic evening that doesn't have me concentrating on my feet.

  6. Really depends on the activity. I love wearing heels with skirts, short or long. My highest stilettoes look so much better with a skirt. I tend to wear lower heels with pants to increase the mobility factor. But the "peek-a-boo" flirtation of a sexy pointed pump under slinky pants is lots of fun.

  7. I know that this forum is for girls who love their heels, so I understand that replies may be biased, but I thought I'd post this question anyway.

Whenever I've attended wedding receptions or other receptions where the guests are dressed in formal attire, I often see girls (women) removing their shoes, particularly to dance. I personally have never done this. It bothers me for a couple of reasons. First, a girl's appearance when dressed formally is dramatically negatively affected once her shoes are off. I take care in selecting the shoes I wear with a particular dress or skirt as part of my complete appearance. I also don't want guys seeing me without my shoes on because I believe I look better with my heels on. Secondly, it seems odd to me to remove your shoes in a public place when others are present.

I know why they are taking off their shoes. It is easier to dance and/or their feet hurt from wearing high heel shoes. It still bothers me.

Is anyone else bothered by this?

Even though I know how uncomfortable a bad fitting pair of heels can be, it doesn't make sense to take such care (and money) to buy special shoes to complete an outfit and then toss them aside in the public space of the dance floor.

Let's face it, girls, we buy heels for how they look. If they fit well and are comfortable, that's a bonus. With all the styles and colors available, it's usually a matter of patient shopping to combine the class and comfort. It may take a few more stores, and the style may not be just what we had in mind, but the result will be killer heels that you can wear all night.

Much to my surprise, cheaper heels (think Payless...OMG) sometime fit better than the ones with prices to match the heel height. Selection is limited, but the price and comfort are sometime just what the occasion demands.

  8. I am surprised there haven't been more responses.

There are corsets and corset want-a-bees. If your buget it tight, save to get a real one. The others are waste (not waist) of money.

Like heelsrule, sienna, fashionista and thehighheelsgirl, I own several custom corsets. I am not talented enough to lace them properly alone but hubby or a g/f seem to always be willing to help.

I love wearing them hidden or showing, depending on my mood and the occassion. I do tend to wear them a bit more if I have fallen off my diet.

You can wear them with just about anything, of course my husband perfers them with just heels but tolerates them (oh yeah) as part of an outfit.

Go to a local corset shop, if your lucky to have one, and simply try a few on and ask a lot of questions. The owners will be glad to help you. Be careful, like wearing heels, wearing corsets is also very addictive.

    Have fun shopping,

    Peggy

I've worn two corsets, one was custom made (and fit like it). The other is a Vollers over-the-bust. It fits very well, for being off the rack. I only wear it on very special occasions.

Self-lacing isn't hard, once you figure out how the laces are placed (where that middle loop is). Although it helps to have a second mirrror, one will work. Patience is the most important part of the process. Also, you need to allow enough time for your body to "settle in" to the corset, and then lace a little tighter.

The easiest way to control the itching and make the corset wearable for long periods is to wear a silky chemise or camisole next to the skin. This also helps keep the corset clean of body oils and perspiration.

There is no doubt that wearing a corset with stilettoes makes me feel ultra sexy.

  9. The only appliance I ever used for my heels is those little plastic cups you can buy from dance wear suppliers. I keep them in my handbag just in case I have to protect an unsuspecting unscheduled floor somewhere. They render most metal stilettos harmless.

Same for me. Why spend the shoe money to look good and then uglify the heel. Compared to these little caps, the High Heeler makes stilettoes look like ski poles.

  10. I just purchased a pair of high heels boots with smooth leather. The soles on the ball of the boots is really slippery, I slide when I walk on new carpet installed on the floor of office lobby and it is not much better on tiles or floorboards. It will take sometimes to break them in and I don't wanna use sand paper for the leather soles. Can I do something to fix this? Or should I leave it with the professionals and get a shoe repairer to fix it.

    Alicia

If you don't want to sand the soles, Alicia, places like Walmart have a stick on product (can't remember the brand). Try the drug area of the store with the insoles and heel pads.
