  1. A few months ago i decided to purchase some 7" superarch pumps from Archenemys. Well after over 2 months they finally arrived. after wearing them inside only, after 4 weeks while sitting down typing at my computer i heard a crack and one of the heels snapped. I imediately contacted archenemys about the problem and sent them some detailed photos of why they snapped. they said they needed to see the shoes in person (i was hesitant about spending $30 to send them back but what choice did i have?) at first they sounded sypathetic and said their shoe designer would have to make a decision. After a few weeks they said if i wanted i could have a new pair for $80 US - this sounded reasonable but when i analysised it this is just for one shoe and i already paid $30 and the exchange rate has gone sour also i thought the construction technique was crap so i said no thanks. to me when something is faulty or poorly made you normally get a replacement or refund but i knew from the start there would be no chance of this due to the fact of the country difference. anyway, we exchanged lots of emails (if anyone is interested i can post them all) with the guy from archenemys saying there was no way they could have broke just by sitting down even though i was very detailed and even sent a picture i ripped off the net and adapted to show why they could have broke (if i can work out how i will post the pic?) anyway the guy from arch enemys started getting shitty and acussing me of blackmail when i said i would post a message on this forum. here is a quote from his last email. "Your mannerism on this whole situation is nothing short of demeaning... so much in fact it has actually begun to sicken me. Asking for a handout is low enough but to go as far as you are obviously willing to go for a simple gain, out of mere spite, is just shameful. How one person can be that decadent and not know when enough is enough is beyond me or anyone here for that matter." - what a lovely chap he is - i did vaguely recall they had a very bad press on here a few years ago but i forget what about? anyway in regards to the reason why the heel broke, the reinforcing pin inside is only made from hollow steel tube (about 3mm) and it doesnt even go all the way to the top this is where the heel broke because when sitting down the heel is resting against the ground and providing leverage and force at an angle. as i told the guy from archenemys most objects are very strong end on but very weak when forces are applied at other angles ( you could easily stand on a pen end on and how easy is that to snap?) - well same thing. (i know that even cheap brands use a solid steel pin that goes all the way to the top) how much extra does a solid that is fixed properly pin cost? i will take this as an expensive lesson not to buy expensive chinease crap again. or from shady opperators like archenemys. on the red photo you can see where the pin has ended by the chamfer on the end (pin is not even aligned strait) on the adapted picture im sure you can guess without a engineering phd why it broke in that place. Im wondering how many other people have had a heel break and what the contruction method was?

  3. Rich, In reply to your request for information about six inch heels forever or(orientvisual) as they are also known, i posted a message about them, its in the bent heels thread. but adding to what i wrote, ive never had any problem contacting them, they were always prompt with a reply, I did order a pair of superarch pumps from them, they came in about 5 weeks. They look really good, you can get an ankle strap and a tan sole if you wish for free too wish is also good, but of you intend to wear them then you might be in for a bit of a problem as i was, the leather is good and they are not uncomfortable to wear but i broke both my heels in about 2 weeks and what was in the house only. they only come with plastic heel tips and these seam very soft and wear down like butter but the main problem is that the heel pin is totally hollow hence they broke in the middle. I fail to understand why they dont offer metal tips and a solid steel pin as it wouldnt cost any more. I was a bit annoyed with them and i emailed them but they implied it was my fault and said i could send get if fixed for 50$ or a replacement for 60$ (for a single shoe) and i thought no way! i did work out a way to repair them using a long steel nail but i had to grind the heel tip off to pull the original pin out, and now i cant find any metal heel tips only the ones sold at arch enemys they charge minimum 3 pairs of heel tips 21$ and 12$ postage which is alot for a small jiffy bag and after what other people wrote about them on here i dont think i'll bother. i tried posting a pic showing the pin but it didnt appear, perhaps a moderator could find it and re-display it if anyones interested?

  4. in response to the bent heels thing,

Over a month ago i deceided to buy some superarch pumps because i really liked the shape and they were cheap.

but unfortunatley afer a few wears inside the house on tiled floors the heel bent inwards very badly i tried to bend it back which was very easy but this made it weaker so i snapped to heel off deliberately to see what was inside and was farely shocked to discover a hollow steel pin that had no strength whatsoever.

I did kind of guess that because they were made in china and were cheap they wouldnt of been the best quality (I brough a cheap air-rifle made in china a few years back and sliced my finger on a burr).

when i recieved them i did notice that one of the heels wasnt exactly strait and there was a small crease at around that point (im a bit of a perfectionist) (also they were opened by customs)

When i emailed the guy at orientvisual he told me that there were no defects when they were shipped and that you are surposed to walk on the balls of your foot because repeated force on the heel will cause it to give way.

and that i could send it back to be repaired at a cost of 50 dollars or get a new one at 65 dollars

as you can see from the pics the metal shaft end looks like it has a polymer materal in hte centre but when i broke the shaft off at the bend (I think you can just about see it in the pic?) the tube was completely hollow.

i also think a contributing factor was the heel tip, made out of a very soft plastic, this wore down very quicky on the heel arch side causeing the heel to bend in

well i know it was nothing that i did and definately defective workmanship so i will never be dealing with them again. I can only suggest that you buy from them with caution and that they use solid metal pins and metal heel tips in future!
