  1. Went to Payless looking for some sandals but did not find anything close to what I was looking for. Tried on some flats and an intriguing set of heels but went out shoeless. (Well, not really shoeless as I was wearing what I came in with. )

Eventually found something close at another store in the form of a flat, strappy sandal and decided it needed to be mine.

Sorry for the awkward angle, but it went on as soon as I hit the car. I am loving the warmer weather.

  2. I got in just on the last day of the sale and got a pair of the Karmen in black. Struggled to choose between the size 12 or the size 13's since only whole sizes available and I am a mens 10.5. Finally went with the 12's and very glad I did as they came today and are quite loose. Don't know if they will break in and conform to my foot, but may have to get an insert for under the ball of my foot to keep from sliding to the front and my heel falling out the back. This is my first pair of pumps, so not sure what to expect. Was a great price at $14.99 (have since jumped up to 19.99, which still isn't bad). Any suggested brands or styles of insert to help fit more closely?

  3. I am currently with my wife at the spa where we both just got pedicures for our 21st anniversary day together. Toes are currently drying on my first professional pedicure with color, as opposed to years of self done ones. As I sit sipping champagne, she is also getting a manicure. Both of the technicians who did the pedicures have been very relaxed and supportive about me having my toenails painted in public. Said they have not had many guys do so, but said they love the color I chose, and that seemed to relax my wife (worried about how it would be received). I am having a great day. Highly recommend it to all out there.

  4. Kzcolt: Are the black boots on the left 5"? A better pic of your 5" boots would be appreciated. (I assume that the toes shown are your own and not an MJ product!) I have been considering a pair of MJ boots for some time (although not the typical cowboy style) and the comments on fit are helpful - running a little large is certainly preferable to running small. Another source of custom-made men's HH boots is (or was) Omano, in Spain. But they are no longer clearly advertised and I'm not sure if they are still available, at least under that name. Does anyone know more about availability, quality and fit?

Puffer, Here is a better shot of the 5" heeled black boot as requested, (good eyes on finding my toes in the earlier posted photo. Shown also is the 3" suede boot heel. While admitting things such as toes that i did not note in the previous post , i must also accept responsibility for fat finger mistypes on the keyboard about 2" (not 1") black heels , 3" tan heels and the previously mentioned 5"ers)

  5. I have bought 4 pairs from them, with 1", 3", & 5" heels. The quality is very good for the price paid and like others have said, the size runs a bit large. The largeness varies per pair of boots, and is not the same on all. Some can be corrected with thicker socks while others have needed an insert (or two, in the case of one pair). My favorite are the tan suede ones, which at the time I ordered them were not in his regular offering palette, (both the round toe, 2" heel of stacked wood and suede tan finish) but upon request for the style, he put together a specific eBay auction for this style with all my wish list items and sent me a link which I leaped upon immediately. Whoops. Couldn't include the photo until I left the mobile version and went to the full site.

  6. Yes. You do need to work on the walk when wearing heels. I usually use shop windows to assess my progress.

thanks for the tips. We have a large glass wall at work to see into the elevator shafts, and I was in the office over the weekend and tried watching myself as well as having my weight more on the ball of my feet. It did feel better, with less bounciness
  7. So I was just out shopping with my wife of 20 years and she told me "You walk funny in high heels". I had on my 3" stacked heel tan suede cowboy boots (under blue jeans) and we were shopping in a Target store. I responded "How should I walk?" to which she responded "Less bouncy" My first thought was happy that she did not have an issue with the fact that I was wearing 3" heels and she was not embarassed, but that I was too bouncy. I immediately bent my knees a little more in my stride to even out my walk, but it definitely felt less natural, which is what I thought I was achieving. Any hints from those with more time and experience in the wearing of heels? (I was actually thinking of all the posts I have read here over the years, the most forward in my mind was "Heel to toe is the way to go", but never anything about bouciness.)

  8. Well done, a very nice first, big outing.

I agree with jwhite, it would be cool to see a picture of the boots you wore if you can swing it, or are those the boots in your avatar?

Great account, but disappointed no picture of your boots!

No those are not the boots in my avatar. (Those ones are a pair of Naturalizers, don't remember the specific style)

Sorry about the slow response to your requests. I dropped my camera and had to wait until I got a new one.

  9. I just bought another pair of high heel cowboy boots. This is my third pair of cowboy boots and my 4th pair of heels. The previous pair was a black pair of round toe boots with a two inch heel, to push the 1 ½” heel of a tan suede pair of boots that I already had. The new pair of boots was bought on ebay from Michael Jones. I was going to get a 3” heel to take small steps in elevation of the heel height, but he had a sale and was offering a pair of 4” heel, black, round toe boots for much less than the 3 inch heel pair. After hemming and hawing, I decided to jump up to the 4” pair as a financial decision (‘it’s a better deal!!’).

The boots showed up, and I had been wearing them around the house when no one was around, mostly on carpet, and then also in my car to and from work. I would also pull them on for the drive home after my local college hockey teams games. Since no one in my family was aware of these boots, (it being my unproclaimed secret, especially to my wife), I did not get to wear them for as long as the urge compelled me to do. After all, I am a forty something married man who has never told anyone about my interest and enjoyment of high heels, ever since finding pairs of heels in the toy box for my older sister and friends to use back when I was probably 5 or 6 years old. But I digress.

I was wearing the new 4” heeled boots in the car back from a hockey game, and wanted to find an out of the way location where I could walk in 4” heels, rather than just sit in 4” heels, as I had been doing in the car. I parked the car near a bike path where I ride, but the dirt parking lot was all mud. I totally sank (about 4”) into the mud and decided that this evening was not the time or place.

The next day, I grabbed the boots and took them outside to wash the HEAVILY caked mud off at the hose faucet. As I was bringing them in, my wife came up (fresh from her nap, which was what gave me the courage to drag them out to clean) and saw my black heeled boots and asked me what I was doing. “Washing mud off my boots”.

She replied “That’s a pretty big heel”

Did I mention that I hadn’t really ever even remotely told my wife about high heel opinions that I had? Even after reading everbodies recommendations here online to let her know sooner rather than later, it just never seemed the right time to bring it up. Well…now it is brought up.

She asked “Do you like high heels?” Me: Yeah

“Why?” Me: Don’t really know, I just do.

“Do you want to be taller?” Me: Not really. I just like the heels.

Needless to say, she felt a bit hurt and somewhat betrayed that who she thought I was and who I presented myself as, was not quite who I truly was.

A few days later, we had a good conversation over lunch and I shared how I wore heels in the house when no one was home, and also in the car to and from work. I did tell her that I really wanted to wear heels but society did not really look at this as normal. (Not in so many words, but this is my recollection of my side of the conversation). Long story short (well, not really), with it in the open, she did not jump all over me when I started openly wearing my boots in the house before I left for work, or even when I got home, as well as at lunch time, when I came home. Anyway, all this has been a long lead up to a posting called “hockey and high heels” and it has not even touched upon the combination, other than in very passing manner. Sorry for any long windedness. Here is where the hockey comes in.

I had tickets for a college playoff championship hockey game that was located 2 ½ hours across the state that I was going to, and I decided I would drive over and back in my heels, and who knows, during the 2.5 hour drive, I might even be able to psych myself up into wearing them to the hockey game itself, which was located in a big city National Hockey League arena.

This was the longest straight time that I had worn the heels, and stopped at a highway rest area. After allowing a car load of people that drove in after me to disembark, I psyched myself up with HHP comments to walk confidently, and no one would probably even notice. Got out of the car, walked to the facilities, then returned to my car, my feet aching on the top from using balancing and top foot muscles that are not exactly well utilized. Maybe I would not wear them to the hockey game. Got back in the car and drove the final 30 minutes to the arena, all the while telling myself that if I force myself to walk from the arena parking lot and go into the game, I am pretty much ensured to have to work on my walking skills and confidence. Somehow I did convince myself and ended up walking about a quarter mile from my parking spot and into the arena.

Once my ticket was taken, there was no turning back as you could not re-enter. Just inside the door, after the business with the ticket, they had metal detectors for a security screening. OH NO! Am I going to set off an alarm with nails in the boots heel and be forced to remove my boots in the crowd? Luckily, no, it was just a mental panic that was unfounded. Now I walked slowly through the crowd to find my seat, which was at the end of an aisle, and had such a narrow space between the seat in front that I had to either sit with my legs spread apart, exposing my left foot out in the aisle, or to tuck them both in over toward the seat next to me.

Since I had arrived early before the game, I had about an hour to kill. Mentally, I felt that everyone in the section to the one side of me, with the aisle exposure was looking at me and judging me for my footwear. Similar for the people to the right, down my aisle that could see my legs. Eventually, the people who had the seats next to me arrived, and somehow seemed to overlook (or even notice) my worries about footwear, or even my footwear. They had driven down from out of state, since their daughter was dating one of the hockey players. We had a very nice conversation throughout the entire game, and it was never an issue. I got up at the period breaks and did the same stuff I would normally have done, only instead of getting popcorn, pizza and pop, I was getting popcorn in high heels, I was getting pizza in high heels, I was getting a soft drink in high heels. It was a lot of elevated heart rate activities, but was also fun.

Eventually, the hockey game was completed and I drove home (while wearing heels ☺). All my fears about hockey fans noticing me and pummeling me with hockey sticks and pucks proved to be unfounded, and besides the pain I felt in the tops of my feet the next day due to utilizing muscles not previously worked for more than 15-30 minutes, rather than 9+ hours, everything went well. I did have to adjust my walking style on the trip back to the car, as my feet were definitely tired.

Since coming back home with my newly built up balancing skills and muscle groups, I have been wearing my boots around the house, in front of the family, with no big deal as I would have expected. Before going out in public, my wife has asked me several times “Are those the high heels?” or “Are those your heels?”, when I had on my ‘low heeled’ 2” cowboy boots of the same style. I like the sound of both those statements. “My heels.” Other than that, to everyone else at home they have just been a pair of shoes I have been wearing.

Now I just need to present this blog to my wife, and maybe get her to read some of the accounts within. Thanks for reading!

  10. Cool boots !! :cry1: I am fairly sure that you can freely wear them anywhere without much surprising or shocking people.

    Happy Heeling

    k6ps

Today I wore them to the place that I couldn't steel my nerves to go into yesterday, while slouching a little bit to mentally cover the footwear with my pantlegs. I bet if I saw myself, I probably drew more attention to them, than if I just walked normal. gotta work on my 'normal' walk now.
  11. Just got these high heeled cowboy boots online this weekend. 3" heels.:cry1:

I wore them around the house, and then at lunch today I went to the library. I don't know if anyone noticed them under my pants, but my heart was racing. I went to do my second errand, but was so jumpy that I had to take them off before I went in.

Very Comfortable. Been looking at them for weeks, and then decided, you know what? It's a Christmas present from me to me.

  12. Well, I decided yesterday would be a good time to take a walk in the neighborhood while wearing my heels, as it was 6 am, the sun was not up, the weather was a slight misty rain, and I had a big dog on a leash. That should be enough distraction for any casual observer away from my feet. My goal was to walk around the block. It started out well enough, but in the wee hours of the morning, the clacking of the heels completely caught me off guard. I have mostly worn them on the carpet, and the heel on the pavement seemed unnaturally loud. I made it about one block down before my nerves got too much for me and I had to come back home and change into some silent hiking boots to complete the walk. I told myself that the enormous sound was all in my head and the actual sound was much less. However, I was unable to convince myself, and I called myself chicken for the remainder of the walk. However, to make up for this lack of self confidence, I had to go into work for a few hours of paperwork, so I took my boots. Since it was Sunday morning, there was only one other person there, and he soon left. I put my boots on and walked around the office as I was doing my paperwork, and it was much quieter on the carpeting. I believe I may have printed several more things than I normally would, as it gave me the opportunity to get up and walk to the printer and back. It was fun having them on at work, and fun walking around in a 'regular' situation, rather than hidden away. Perhaps this will become a common event that will require additional weekend work to clean up paperwork.

  13. Thanks Bubba, You are right about the more I wear them, the more I will be looking for additional heels. I have a feeling that now that the genie is out of the bottle, it won't want to go back in. Would you have a size or style of heel you would recommend for a beginner to strive for? Of course that could be a question that comes down to personal choice with everyone having a different preference.

  14. Wow! This is my First post on a great site. I thought I was the only guy out there who just could not get over a love of heels. After hanging out in the background, reading of others adventures, I am able to embrace what I really enjoy and not feel like a mutant.

I have gravitated to womens heels ever since I was a child, playing with my mothers old shoes that were down in the toybox for my sister to play dress up. If I could not wear the shoes since people were around (because even as a child, I knew that boys did not wear heels), I would make my own heels by putting toy wooden letter blocks in my socks to boost up my heels.

For years I would sneak my sisters heels on when no one was home, and eventually, later, my wifes heels.

After vicariously reading of others exploits here at hhplace, last week I made a bold move and ordered a pair of heels for myself. Rather than having a pair of heels that had to be open in the back since they were 4 sizes too small, I followed a link to a seller that I discovered here and ordered a size 12 pair of black boots. LOVE the high heel boots. After I ordered online, I could not go back, so, I waited 2 heart fluttering days for the package to arrive at work (Wouldn't want it to show up at home, as I believe my wife has no notion), I happened to catch the package sitting at the secretarys desk before they were delivered in the office waiting to be sorted.

I was even more excited to have them in hand. After all, these were my foot size!

Here are the boots I got:

    http://piperlime.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=19794&pid=612003&scid=612003002

I put them on in the car at the end of the day and drove home. A grown man should not think 'wheee!', but "WHEEE!" I wore them around the house until I suspected the family would be coming home and then put them away.

Later that evening, I had to run an errand, so I took them and wore them driving again. I needed some gas for the car, so I stopped with them on, and heeled in public (albeit a very small public, between the car and the gas pump, maybe 3 steps).

The boots seem just a bit big, but when I checked the web site for a smaller size, they are out, so I will make due with MY HIGH HEEL BOOTS. (Sounds right when said that way). At least it saved me the potential embarassment of another box coming to work with the shoe store name on the outside ("Boy, you keep getting boxes of womens shoes")

I have had them a week as of today, and I have worn them mostly in my car, to and from work, and other driving during the work day.
