  1. These, from Nine West look like regular cowboy boots....just with higher heels.

I purchased the "Gorn," but haven't received them, yet. I saw them in the store and they look are likely to resemble guy's cowboy boots under jeans. The heel just looks narrow from the rear, which may or may not be identified by onlookers.

Why the chose the name from the classic reptile like alien character that fought Captin Kirk in the 1974 episode, I don't know.

  2. I love the construction of this boots. That has got to be the era before the invention of steel shanks and arched structructure of the sole for high heels. I would conject that in that era, the sole was basically a slab of leather onto which the heel was nailed. Not much for support, but it was fine for heels of up to two inches. I guess walking around in heeled boots of that era means it was like walking in high heels with loose heels. I've done that. You get used to it, and having gotten used to it, it is sometimes easier to walk in a boot with loose heels than an new pair. Take a loser look as the heels of the man on the right. There's a brace, apparently nailed to the bottomss of the heels and apparently nailed to the sole of the fore foot of the boots. These, I imagine, would feel like wedgies, when walking in them. Walking in them would really be an adventure.

  3. OK, further dumb question. Assuming I go down the route of buying women's jeans/slacks/chinos. Can someone give me an idea of what size would fit me?

36" waist, 30" inseam (with gym shoes, obviously I would adjust based on heel height)

Also, some idea of stores that I should check out that has sizes that might fit me would be much appreciated.

You need a Size 14 in Misses sizes. Thet is equivalent to a 36 inch waist and is about 33 inches long on the inseam. If you go to www.jcpenney.com, they are having a Summer clearance. You can have jeans with flared and wide legs for about $18 or less a pair right now. They can ship them to your door in less and 3-5 days.

  4. I've been secretly admiring and wearing heels for years wishing that they would be accepted into the mainstream for menwear. I've read the news about "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" program, but that is a novelty and has lmited exposure of the wearing of heels by men in the mainstream. The fact is there is a need to get both the public, and both men and women used to men wearing pumps and stilleto heels into the mainstream of everyday life. There need to be a National "Work a Day in Her Shoes Day," that brings national awareness of our situation and other womens issues to the mainstream. The shoe companies would be more likely to stock larger sized heels and even provide discounts and partial proceeds of sales to charities. An women, as beneficiaries, would more likely be accepting of men wearing heels at the office, as everyday wear in the mainstream. Men, who would not think of wearing women's heels have doned them for the "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" charity event. It would be all over the country, not just in one town, and for an entire day. If we could get Oprah to endorse or sponsor it, I bet that we could eventually make the everyday wearing of heels by men a common sight anywhere around the world. For my entire life, I have wished that to happen. Maybe it's wishful thinking. But, how nice that would be.
