  1. i think if i were to see a man in heels, and if he looked approachable enough, i'd compliment him. it does take courage to go against the grain! sometimes all it takes is one person to say "hey, you look nice!" to make your day.

  2. this is just my perspective as a female. as for the heels themselves, i suppose i could deal with a significant other wearing them privately or publicly depending on the actual situation. i wouldn't fancy him wearing 5" courts to dinner with my parents. as long as the heels (preferably chunky for men) were part of a total look and looked well, no biggie here. it would be a big plus to have a boyfriend who appreciated shoes and fashion in general, as so many males seem to be oblivious. i can't say i wouldn't mind recieving pairs of nice shoes as gifts, that's for sure. if i were to marry a man, and years later he professed a love for wearing heels, i would be upset. the reason for that would be that i'd have someone who pledged the rest of their life to me, and yet felt that he couldn't share a passion, something that is a big part of his life, with me. you have to expect that hurt, and hopefully, you can overcome it and gain acceptance from your SO. if not, well then maybe she wasn't the right one for you anyways. i'm open minded, i know relationships are compromises. i do urge the men who love heels secretly to come out. it's not fair to yourself or your SO for you to not truly be yourself.

  3. rather than match nail colors, i prefer to have them complement each other. i'll often put something neutral (silver) or classic (metallic red) on my toes. i change the polish on them much less often than my fingers, which i do a couple times a week to match what ever mood i feel. i'm young, and tend to dress in a darker, alternative style, so it's expected that my nails follow suit. i'll wear silver, red, hot pink, blue, purple, black.. sometimes i'll do a stripe or an X. i've even got some neon green polish. i file my nails into a retro rounded point. nails are a great way to experiment with funky color, without being too obvious or committed. the only thing i really hate to do is go out without ANY polish. i feel that it makes a girl look that much more polished and complete.

  4. i like platforms with a chunky heel, or when it's a one-piece platoform. i have quite a few pairs that have a funky, 70s-ish look. plats were also popular during the 1940s. i'm not a big fan of stilettos/spikes with platforms, it does tend to ruin the profile. i suppose it is cheating, but i'm not into heels as a challenge. i'm short, 5'4", and i don't mind it in the least. i have no desire to really be taller. i also can't stand the stiletto plat sandals that strippers seem to like. they just seem tacky, probably because they are so frequently on the feet of those in the "adult" biz.

  5. those babydoll pumps are very nice!!! 40s looking. i'd love to have a pair. i'm not so sure about the 2nd. with the right oufit, they could look quite space-age and interesting. otherwise, it could be stripper-tacky. how do you plan on wearing them?

  6. i have a bit of a maryjane obsession. when i was much younger, i bought an anniversary issue of seventeen magazine that had sections devoted to all the various decades that seventeen had been published in. i was obsessed with the 60s at the time, and i just fell in LOVE with maryjanes. also love the whole "kinderwhore" look from the early 90s riot grrrls. ever since then, i've collected them. put a strap on a shoe, and odds are, i will love it or at least like it.

i actually just bought some today. one pair of comfy basically flat (i know, i know) mules that will be great for walking in but also looking nice.

also tried on and made a vow to purchase these in black:

Posted Image when they have my size in stock.

maryjanes are just so feminine and girly and cute.
