  1. I know that this forum is for girls who love their heels, so I understand that replies may be biased, but I thought I'd post this question anyway. Whenever I've attended wedding receptions or other receptions where the guests are dressed in formal attire, I often see girls (women) removing their shoes, particularly to dance. I personally have never done this. It bothers me for a couple of reasons. First, a girl's appearance when dressed formally is dramatically negatively affected once her shoes are off. I take care in selecting the shoes I wear with a particular dress or skirt as part of my complete appearance. I also don't want guys seeing me without my shoes on because I believe I look better with my heels on. Secondly, it seems odd to me to remove your shoes in a public place when others are present. I know why they are taking off their shoes. It is easier to dance and/or their feet hurt from wearing high heel shoes. It still bothers me. Is anyone else bothered by this?

  2. Yes. After reading and seeing the types of shoes you girls are wearing, and the height of some of the heels, I have become more (slightly) more daring in my shoe choices. In the past, 4 inch heels were my limit. I now have one pair that have 5 inch heels. These also happen to be my hidden platform shoes. I didn't have any platforms before coming to this site.

  3. PatentHeel, I like your avatar. Some time ago, I posted a comment regarding ankle socks. I like them. I think that they are very cute. However, as you noted, not everybody likes them and for some reason they have acquired a negative connotation, which is why I don't wear them often and I don't wear them out. Anyway, I like them. I also love your shoes. More photos are always welcome, particularly if you have other examples of ankle socks. Thanks.

  4. heelsrule, I have never worn a corset, but the idea of wearing one is very appealing. Your comment about feeling like you are being hugged is a good one. I think what appeals to me, like high heels with ankle straps, is the feeling of being held and confined. I can't explain why this is appealing, but it is, which is probably why i wear tight jeans, tight tops, tight skirts and tight dresses.

  5. Franie, you are probably correct. My one incident wasn't s situation of jealousy, but more one of disapproval. It was as if she was telling me that her opinion was that girls should not be wearing heels that high.

  6. Have you ever been wearing high heels and gotten a peculiar look, or worse, someone made a unflattering comment about your wearing high heels? The only time I have gotten a comment is when I was buying some heels and the cashier, an older woman, said, "Those are really high." She said it with a disapproving tone. I didn't care, but it is the only instance that I can recall.

  7. I was watching a program on television, which wasn't about shoes, but they stated that flip flops were first introduced in 1930! I didn't realize that they were that old. So whether you like them or not, they have staying power and will probably be with us for a long time.

  8. I recently saw a picture of a sexy pair of shoes with a caption that said, "You are as young as your shoes make you feel." So our shoes, like other things that we use to enhance ourselves (clothes, lingerie, makeup, jewelry, hair, etc.) can have an affect on the way we feel. I know that when I am wearing a particularly tall, sexy pair of heels, I feel better, confident, pretty and sexy. Some women can wear sweats and feel that way. Others have to step it up a notch.

  9. Mostly skirts; however I do have pants that I wear to work with hh. I also think that tight jeans with hh looks sexy. Its a great way to amp up the casual look and it isn't something I see often.

  10. Wow. I thought that I liked them because they are cute, but maybe subconsciously I was projecting my desire for sex. Benno, I must now look critically at all of my shoes to determine if I am broadcasting a hidden message to the public. (lol) Maybe my pointed toe shoes mean that I am aggressive, or dangerous; and maybe my round toe shoes mean that I am soft, easy going, or blunt. Then I have to look at heal shapes, the cut of the vamp, the percentage of the shoe that is open, the inclusion of straps. I've got a lot of thinking to do. Thanks for your comment. I am sure it will generate many more responses than will the original questions. By the way. I like peep toe shoes. I generally wear my hhs with nylons and peep toes are no exception, but I wear nude nylons with peep toes. I am going to have to experiment with colored sheer nylons, opaque nylons, and textured nylons with my peep toes to determine if I like that appearance.

  11. I would like to get opinions about peep toe shoes (or peekaboo toes, which I think are the same). They were popular in the 1950s and for a brief period during the 1980s. They are making a comeback.

Do you like peep toe shoes?

Do you wear them with nylons or bare feet?

I saw and article that included the following: "The unspoken law of open-toe shoes has been that you should never wear opaque (or otherwise obvious) stockings with peep toe shoes. Well 2008 is putting a big red line thorugh that rule. Tights and peep toes are the year's new 'It couple', declares the ShopBop website. Going totally against the grain, one of the biggest footwear fashion crazes is pairing opaque tights or textured stockings with open-toe shoes. That which was once a serious fashion faux pas is not all the rage."
