  1. I take a size 12 or 12.5 timberland boot and fit a size 15 Onlymaker. My foot length is 29.5cm or just over 11 1/2 inches and their size 15s fit just fine. Pretty solid shoes for the price and the finish is OK on my several pairs

  2. Look at cowboybootsusa   (yes, all one word) store on ebay (USA or UK ebay - slightly different choice on the different sites) Lots of various height cowboy boots on there. Not dead cheap but not massively priced for real thick leather. I got a 5 inch high pair from them and they're good and solid. But mine are actually bigger than expected (that's a first) so I need a thick pair of socks. Check and read the size charts carefully as there are a couple of different charts when you click the "see full descrition" tab

  3. Ordering from a place that advertises size 10.5Uk = size 15 US with no size charts or other information is generally going to be a huge dissapointment. Whatever size chart you look at, their comparison is so different (Chinese sizing is always a bit risky anyway) and theirs is off the wall.  And Aliexpress sizes are all so small.  I have successfully ordred from chinese sites including Ali-express etc but only after a lot of emails back and forth. If the responses aren't sensible and clear, I drop them. Even when the responses are very clear and concise, I reckon 20% of the time it goes wrong and sending stuff back to China just isn't worth it so I've suffered it as it's so cheap it's worth chucking out 20% of your orders.

Onlymaker  or onlymakerstore.com (don't go custom made - just click on the shop button for aound $60 shoes) make some great stuff, but they're a size small i.e. order one size larger than your size. But their size chart by foot length is accurate - My feet are 11 3/4 inches long and their size 15 fits fine - just as their chart. But again, I've bought 5 pairs of theirs and 4 are amazing - sturdy, just as shown, and really comfy, but one pair went in the bin. And their heel heights stated are stupid, e.g. they state 3.5in height on a really high looking shoe but god knows how they measure it. So I emailed them in advance and asked what height the heel would be, at the very back of the heel to the floor, for this shoe in this size and they came back with an answer - the site description said 3.5 inch heel but they obviously initially  measured its height between the heel and the sole and it's a sort of a recessed heel so 3.5 is accurate that way but they said 5.5in at the very back of the heel to the floor which was exactly what I wanted in their size 15 - size US 14, UK 12 and it was correct when it arrived.

In summary, I buy from them as China makes some great stuff, but you have to drag a decent description out of them and be prepared to junk something now and then in order to benefit in the long term

So in summary - ask them all the questions you're not sure of and if they don't answer coherently, be prepared to be dissappointed, or lucky.

  4. I can't see the bottom of the photo in the original post so can only go by the ones in the ebay links by Pumped. If that's the sort of thing you want, try Onlymaker.

Either google it or search for Onlymaker on Amazon.com or .co.uk

Of you go to the onlymaker website, don't design a shoe yourself as the home page tells you but go to the online store tab as they're about 1/3rd of the price i.e about £40 - £60 depending on model. Sometimes they're cheaper or more expensive on UK amazon or on the US site - it's worth looking at all three. Sizes up to US 15 (their US 15 fits my UK 12 - so go one size up in my experience), shipping is about $10 to Europe or the US and quality is pretty good - not Gucci quality but certainly OK for the price.

  5. I just got a pair of the blue suede pumps with criss cross straps. I had to order them off amazon.com rather than their uk site as they're not listed on the uk site. The selection of their shoesl is bigger on the US site. I got an email about a week after ordering saying they were shipped and they arrived at my UK home about 2 weeks after that.

Size - I normally take a UK 12 or US 14 so I took a punt and ordered a US15  size seeing as they were from China. My foot is 11 3/4 inches long and their size chart says this equates to a US15 (or UK 13 on the amazon UK site). And they're bang on perfect.

Quality - the strap buckles are a bit flimsy (as for most shoes) but OK (and I might cut them off anyway a don't really like them - I just couldn't find another blue suede platform pump). But the shoe itself is very solid - no sign of flex or wobble and the finishing is reasonable - not Gucci good but pretty good, especially for the price.

Heel height. Although advertised as being approx 5.9 heel with approx. 1.2 inch platform, the heel (in size US15 don't forget) is actually 6.5 inches and the platform is, as stated, 1.2 inches. so a 5 1/4 inch rise which is ideal for me. I'd suggest the 5.9 heels is probably correct for an "average" women's shoe.

Overall - very pleased and I'll be buying a few more pairs off them in the new year.

You can buy direct from onymaker's site where custom options are apparently more available but they're much more expensive.

  6. Some of you have got it all wrong. So either the boots go or the floor goes. I'd vote that the boots remain and the floor just isn't up to dealing with proper boots.

Bin the floor and keep wearing the boots. Or you could always wear flip flops - how exciting, not!

We could start a suitable floor forum but I reckon it'd not be so popular

  7. I've ordered several things from Aliexpress.com and found the suppliers to be reliable and honest with reliable (if long) shipping times... but I have found...

Their sizes tend to be always on the small size. Where USA and European suppliers actual sizes can vary by a size or two, I find the asian sizes always tend to be on the smaller end of the scale and would always have to go for a size or two larger than their sizes tell me. I would always order a size, or maybe two, larger than I would from a USA or UK site. Study their size chart and actual foot length in inches or cm carefully if they list one. I find their foot lengths are generally short compared to their sizes compared to USA / UK measurements

I can't guarantee the above info is correct in all cases but so far, this has been my experience - every time over several orders. Go large if in doubt.

But they can be cheap and good quality when you choose wisely so I will use them again.

  8. Cos at FF will make you whatever you want - believe me. It may take some time as they are not terribly market driven (thankfully, or they'd go the same way most shoemakers did i.e. plastic rubbish). Their name may imply fetish only but their site has some low heeled stuff as well - so suspecting wives should be able to understand that specialist shoemakers are not "weird". I've been to their factory / workshop and they are the real old fashioned shoemakers, now with a bit of a showroom - a rare treat.

  9. Digitalis I think fabulouslyfetish makes burlesque blue shoes. BB are a middle man with a bit more marketing nouse than FF. FF have a showroom and a website but neither does them justice. In the background, they're an old fashioned cobbler (Cos K is the man there - google him) with lots of machines whirring away and they can make you whatever you want in a choice of leathers, styles etc. As most old fashioned craftsmen's businesses are, their communications and timescales are not the best organised - but they're good old fashioned cobblers. I went there and got measured in person (took 3 visits as they made sample shoes then adjusted them after I tried them on) and had a personal last made for me (that they hold for you) and had a great pair of shoes made on that last - totally to my specification. Not cheap but not mega bucks, and much cheaper than tossing a coin on sizes on the internet. Now that I paid the measurement and last making fee, the shoes are "normal" prices after that. I will be getting more shoes made to my custom size last for sure. Let us know how you get on

  10. Give fabulously fetish a call as they'll measure your feet in store if you want and make a last. I know it doesn't say it on the website but he'll do it - assuming you're in the UK that is.

  11. Size 43 is on the limit of what you'll find generally in Camden - I've been there several times and found nothing at all to fit my size 45 foot - but you might get lucky with a 43. You'll find plenty of interesting cheap shoes for your girlfriend there - assuming she's got feet in a normal girls size range. Soho, although a world renounded fetish / gay / alternative centre, tends to be a bit of a rip off. Lots of cheap stuff sold at top notch prices. Generally small shops so don't have huge stock, so again, size 43 choices will be very limited. Best bet is to visit a back street specialist custom maker such as leatherworks or Costas at Fabulously Fetish (highly recommended). to take your measurements and make a pair for you then send it later. I live in london and have trawled around lots. I hate to be negative but with London shops having huge rents, they tend to sell high turnover items, unless you get way off the beaten track. IThis is my experience - if I'm proved wrong, I'd be delighted as I'd finally find a good walk in shop for me. I'm sure you'll enjoy London, whatever the shopping outcome. Soho and Camden are both well worth visiting if you like the wierd & wonderful

  12. Wood&metal Great boots. Are they all from cowboybootsusa? The first pair look like they are but the other 2 don't look like models on their site. Hope you don't mind - what size are they please? I'm trying to get an idea of what they'll look like in a 14 The last pair look great - if not from cbusa, where did you get them? Thanks

  13. Wood&metal you beat me to it - I was seriously considering buying a pair of 5.5 inch heel boots from cowboybootsusa today. Now I've seen you've done it, I might just be a bit selfish and see how you get on Please post a report when they arrive. Thanks

  14. Wood&metal,

Not exactly the same but you might get something similar to the cowboy boots at Cowboy Boots USA's ebay store. for <$200. The site's a bit disjointed but they do up to 5.5" heels with different leathers & paterns etc. http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/COWBOY-BOOTS-USA_CUSTOM-COWBOY-BOOTS_W0QQ_fsubZ1008848017QQ_sidZ391924077QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322

I've no idea of the quality as haven't ordered but feedback's good. I'm tempted to try a 5.5" heel pair in aligator

Maximillian - I would have thought jean gaborit could send you something similar in a large size although they fall foul of one of your terms big time - prices are not low.

  15. the clue's at the bottom of the page of the link - fabulouslyfetish - who make shoes for many others. They have their own site and make custom shoes any way you want, heel height, colour, tat or no tat added. Their site's a bit sparse on detail but give Kos a call and ask for whatever you want. Or visit their limited showroom in North London. http://www.fabulouslyfetish.com/

  16. Luxxyheels great pair of shoes - I've pondered over buying from marziali for a while now... 2 questions please... Are their sizes larger or smaller than "normal" I fit a 45 in some brands but need 47 in others. Their size chart gives some lengths for feet etc. but you never know till you put shoes on. Are they large or small compared to your other shoes of supposedly same sizes? Also - I don't know what size you wear but they say 12cm heels - if your size is bigger or smaller than average, could you give us an idea if the heels vary with sizes? Some manufacturers heel heights vary with sizes and some stay consistant and I'd hope that with a bigger size, the heel for me would be a bit higher. Thanks in anticipation

  17. I've ordered 2 pairs from 6ihf and they are really solid shoes / boots. Far more sturdy than normal size 14 shoes and the increased arch supports the whole foot better than most other shoes I've got. The heels were also bang on the height I ordered. My first pair were a custom job - 5.5 inch block heel leather knee high boots with rounded toes (same shape as their block heel shoes) and they're my favourite to wear with pants as I feel like they're solid enough to run a marathon without being uncomfy. I got them about 3 years ago and I'm not sure why they say they only make them with 4.5 inch heel now. The second pair are special arch 6.3 inch heel pumps and I ordered normal fit but they're a little tight in the toe box. I thought my feet were normal width but maybe they're wide as toe boxes in pumps are always tight on me. So if you think you may be a wide fitting, then I'd order wide. I've also got long toes. They both took about twice as long to make as planned and their communication isn't the best but they did reply after a while and they did send me an email when they shipped them. All in all, I'm delighted with the boots and don't regret buying the pumps - although I can't wear them all night. I may get some more but would order wide fitting

  18. I bought a pair of the block heels from 6 inch heels forever a few years ago and they're the most solid boots I've got () I've no time for cheap bendy soggy heels). Slight snag though - the heel wasn't very tightly screwed on to the sole so I pulled up the (suede - nice) insole, undid the screw, prized the heel forward a bit, put some super strong glue in (Araldite - not superglue as it's brittle) and screwed it back on. It'e solid as a rock now. I really like solid feeling boots that hold my ankles and feet really steady (not overtight - just very supportive) and these are my favourite if I need to stay on my feet for hours. This was a few years ago when they advertised them in any height you like so I got 5.5 inch heels and they were bang on. I ordered size 47 and seeing as it was custom, I got them in knee high with quick lace ups. I gave my exact leg measurements and everything was again, exactly right. Thick solid leather too - again what I wanted. They were much cheaper then - about £130 from memory. In short, they made them precicely to my specifications - something other custom boot makers seem to have struggled with. I also have a pair of their V16SA pumps and they're really solid too. A lot of shoes I've got feel a bit too flexible and therefore unstable - big size makes it worse I guess. As for sizes - their measurement chart is pretty accurate - measured my foot lenght and they fit fine. Their timekeeping and communication isn't the best though - mine both took about a month longer than quoted. Their email system seems to junk a lot of their incoming mail. If you're willing to be patient, I'd recommend them - I'll be ordering more from them one day.
