  1. I will write five sentences here, this is the first. In the DSM-IV-TR, Gender Identity Disorder, as a diagnosis for transsexualism is listed in the DSM at all because GID manifests itself as a psychological issue, even though it is purely physical in origin. That was the second sentence, this is the third. For the original poster I'm not exactly sure what it is you are trying to get at in your LiveJournal post, why not clarify. If you're suggesting that society be more tolerant to people as a diverse group just say so.

  2. This takes about 20-25 minutes - depending on rice.

    Chicken Katsu

    You need:

    Bottle of Tonkatsu sauce ($3 at Asian Market)

    Panko ($1.24 at Asian Market -- These are Japanese bread crumbs)

    Lean, Skinless, Bonless Chicken

    Long grain white rice

    Flour

    One or two eggs

    Cooking oil

    Skillet

    Pan and lid to cook rice, or rice steamer

    Prep:

    Make sure your chicken is thawed before starting. :wink:

    If your rice takes longer than 15 minutes to cook, boil the water at once and get that rice cooking if you want it done when the chicken is done.

    Cut any excess fat off the chicken, and do your best to flatten the chicken out. Don't go overboard. Put the chicken on a cutting board and just press down on the thicker parts of the chicken. This is so it cooks faster.

    Put the skillet on medium heat and just let it sit for a few minutes to warm up. After it has warmed up, coat the bottom with cooking oil (you dont need much)

    Put some flour on a paper plate

    Put some Panko on a separate paper plate

    Break an egg into a bowl and use a fork and whip it up, so the yolk and clear stuff is all mixed up nice.

    Coat the cicken in flour and then drag it through the egg so its coated, and then coat the chicken in the Panko. (ie, "bread the chicken") Set it aside and repeat for all the chicken you have.

    Once the oil has warmed up, put the breaded chicken into the skillet and leave it on medium heat. Flip the chicken every 3-4 minutes. You want the chicken to be golden-brown and thoroughly cooked (Salmonilla is bad).

    When everything is cooked, put the chicken on a bed of rice, cut chicken down center and then across the sides. Drizzel Tonkatsu sauce over the chicken and rice.

    If you'd like, you can add other seasonings while its cooking, but keep it all light stuff: small amount of pepper and/or salt. Also, you can dice some scallions and put them on the dish after the tonkatsu sauce is applied - this is mainly for color.

    Total time: About 20-25 minutes.

    You can believe the Bible all you want and your blissful ignorance can never be put aside. You can not refute the overwhelming proof from science (towards cosmology and biology).

    This topic has been covered a thousand times in a thousand languages - nothing unqiue is left to be said: Science is producing more proof each year and the Bible stays the same (until it is retranslated, or the Pope tells his followers that its all wrong).

    The point of the website is to draw attention that the so-called "normal" people are calling the autistic subset "abnormal" when many of these "abnormal" people lead a more successful life than any "normal" person.

    Its just another example of how the people in power will stay in power by labelling unlike people differently and in a way that draws negative attention to them.

    Genetic mutations have been witnessed, there is proof to support them - there is scientific proof that says the earth is several billion years old and that dinosaurs died out millions of years before some guy was nailed to a cross. Creationism has so many holes in it as to drive a semi through.

    Not to mention, which "creation" story is right? They can't all be right...

  6. It is better to think of gender as a continuum, with "VERY MASCULINE" at one end and "VERY FEMININE" on the other and a bit of both in the middle. Sex (that is, your biological distinction) is normally a binary choice: male or female, or male reproductive parts or female reproductive parts. I say normally because there are XXY individuals so-called "intersexed" and/or "hermaphrodites." Gender (that is, your psychological distinction) is NOT - contrary to popular belief - a binary choice. Everyone has feminine traits and everyone has masculine traits. That said, men and women do have distinctily different brains and on the average think radically different. For example, women tend to notice details whereas a man would pass over the same thing. Is it due to the "lack of" evolution that men and women think differently? Well, that depends on who you ask. :lol: I don't think human beings are even close to anything resembling an "evolutionary endgame" stage. Thus it is premature to even comment on our evolution, especially with regard to the gender differences.

    PRINCIPAL GIVES HIGH HEELS ON BOYS THE BOOT

    A 15-year-old gay student at the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences expressed disbelief last week after the school's assistant principal allegedly told him he had to "dress as a boy" if he wanted to remain at the school.

    "I had on some high heels for about 10 minutes," the student said. "She told me as long as I was at the school, I would dress as a boy, that I would not wear anything feminine."

    The student also said CHSAS assistant principal Martha Hamilton told him his long hair was "offensive" when she reprimanded him in a hallway July 24.

    Hamilton denied making the comment about the student's hair but acknowledged that she told him he couldn't wear high heels.

    "We don't allow boys to wear high heels and earrings," Hamilton said. "Girls can wear earrings."

    Asked whether girls at the school, part of the Chicago Public Schools system, are allowed to wear high heels, Hamilton said, "Girls are allowed to wear whatever shoes are appropriate for girls. How many boys do you know who wear high heel shoes?"

    Hamilton said distinguishing what male and female students can wear is not discriminatory.

    "It has nothing to do with his sexual orientation," she said. "Before (students) come here, we explain what our policies are. He's one of the ones who signs a contract to abide by them. If there's a problem with this, he can go somewhere else."

    But the student said he feels the atmosphere at the school is not good for GLBT students, adding he's the only openly gay student he knows at CHSAS, 3857 W. 111th St.

    "Everybody at that school, they look way down on it," he said.

    He added that he's spoken about the atmosphere at the school with at least one teacher he knows is gay, but said the teacher told him if he spoke out about it, "he would only be causing trouble."

    "It's not right for them to tell you how to dress," the student said. "There's other guys, straight guys, who wear their hair long and in braids, and they haven't said anything to them."

    The student said Hamilton's actions "were very traumatizing" and expressed additional concerns after Hamilton, following an interview with CFP, called his mother.

    CPS chief legal counsel Marilyn Johnson said the school system has a strict policy barring discrimination based on sexual orientation.

    "I can tell you this is an issue that arises from time to time," Johnson said. "We deal with these on a case-by-case basis. We do take these seriously."

    Johnson said she would discuss the issue with Hamilton and CHSAS officials and take appropriate action.

    Rick Garcia, political director of Equality Illinois, expressed outrage at Hamilton's actions.

    "It certainly should not be the business of the school to tell this kid what to wear," Garcia said. "If there's no dress code and the child wants to wear heels, then it's not appropriate for them to say he can't."

    Each CPS school sets its own dress code. At CHSAS, that code is being revised, according to Hamilton. But Garcia and Johnson agreed that the code cannot be used to discriminate against GLBT students.

    "It's entirely possible and necessary to accommodate (issues of) blanket discrimination," Johnson said.

    The student, who returns to the school this fall as a sophomore, said he intends to continue dressing in a way that he feels is appropriate.

    "I identify as whatever I put on in the morning," he said.
