  1. I always hold the door open, especially if it's for someone heading to where I am and they are a decent distance away. When leaving, I always look behind to see if I need to hold it again. Nothing worse than holding a door and not getting a thank you. I promptly follow with a loud, unpleased YOUR WELCOME. It's not old fashion as other's have stated, it's just courtesy.

  2. Been a while since my last visit.

I went back to the store two weeks after I ordered my Flair 480s and turns out, they told me the manufacturer said they were out and wouldn't have them in stock until Jan. After trying to find another style that was comparable, I opted to take my deposit and said I'd be back.

A week later I went for my first pedicure and boy, were you all right! I was a walk in, told the lady I want a ped, sat next to another woman that was getting her's done and the lady started on mine while the woman's was drying. So she starts...and I comment that I went french tips. Wish I had it on video the reaction of the woman over the next 3-4min. She didn't understand....scoffed, and looked at the woman next to me, chuckled 'with' her at me. I finally said 'is it a problem that I want french tips' and she sort of shrugged. So she started...annoyed, I decided not to let her get to me and started talking to her to the point where she realized that I was actually a person and not some weirdo she thought I was. She said that many guys come in but all get clear polish if any, never french tips. Told her 'a first for everything'.

I left and was pretty happy with the results, even if I did feel slightly rushed.

Later that week, I gave the wife a ped and in doing so, told her I got one as well.....she was a tad shocked and even MOREso when I told her I got polish....she wanted to see but by that time, i took it off b/c I didn't know what her reaction would be. All in all, she was shocked and whereas her reaction wasn't overly negative, it wasn't overly positive either. No...'cool, we should go together'....it was more 'im shocked since it doesn't seem like ....you, doesnt seem manly'. I laughed inside since here I am buying heels; wonder how manly she would presume that to be. heh.

So after coming back here, I saw Jwhite post about glamor boutique and decided I was going to head over and check it out. Was a very positive exp and my Flair 480s will be in within 2 weeks and if they don't fit properly, they will 'eat' the order, unlike the other store where it was a hard sale.

While there I decided to try on a few things whereas before my CDing was only heels/thigh highs. Figured I was there, so why not. All in all, really happy with the experience. Was nice to talk to the guy there about heels and such just like we were talking sneakers and no added 'oddness'.

  3. Sigh!

    Well, I didn't.

The pros....the Pleaser heel is a much better heal all around than the Jante. It feels more sturdy, the sole is slightly padded so it's more comfortable.

The cons....it's still patent [not that I hate patent, but my Flair's that are on order only come in patent and I just wanted a variety] and they are HIGHER! The other heels were 6.75, these are 7in and I can tell the difference.

7in doesn't bother me at all to walk in, but it's more an astetic issue for me. I really love the 6in plats, but always thought a higher platform took away from the sexiness of the heel and made it...'more clowny'. If that makes sense.

That being said, when I am in these heels, they do feel pretty good and I like the way they look. So even though it's not the heel I originally ordered, I am happier to have a better made heel.

Looking forward to my Pleaser Flair 480s, but was told they would be 2 weeks. Which, hopefully won't turn into another month! heh.

Oh yeah...the one MAJOR plus is the 12 in the Pleaser fits almost perfect whereas the Jante was a bit small, making them tougher to walk in.

  4. I recalled the lady telling me that since the order was screwed up, the company was sending two pairs of 12s. So on a whim, I just called and asked what brand the other 12s were, and alas! They are the pleasers I ordered! She said I can swap them out, no problem. So there may be some light shed upon my first experience yet.

  5. How I wish my foot size was so much smaller for the first time in my life.

Last week, my heels were sent to the store and they were the wrong size. So I waited...they were delayed a week, then another few days for god knows what reason. I called and they were in the store a few days ago. I had some spare time and headed over to pick them up today.

I didnt get my pedicure, mainly due to obligations, but i have been trying to care of my feet more than normal.

I go to the store and there is the lady that sold me the heels and a man behind the counter on the computer, checking out some high heel websites ( i guess for prices).

I notice on the box, it says "patent".....I specifically said I didnt want patent leather but normal. After being delayed 3 weeks, I didnt care and tried them on. As you can see from the pic, they are ever so slightly small on me on the heel part. The toes are semi-comfortable but after wearing a while, I get marks on my feet from the material going over the toes.

I even think these are a tad higher than what I wanted......but it may be b/c my size is a 12 that they seem higher? They are a 7in heel with a 2.5 in platform.

Bar the fact they were delayed QUITE some time, the fact they are entirely the wrong heel size and leather style....I took them and tried them on in front of the man and woman, in the middle of the store. I didnt walk around too much, but we did agree that the next set I need to bump it up to a 13 and not a 12........unfortuntaly the distributor doesnt take send backs unless there is a defect.

All said and done, I must say that putting them on is like nothing I ever experienced. It honestly wouldnt have matter who was in the store at that moment b/c I was just in some ZONE.

I have walked around abit and honestly do wish I went a bit smaller, but do not entirely regret going so high as they are quite comfortable.

With my platform desires appeased, I looked for the BARDOT style from Snaz75 in their catalogs and came up empty. I did howeve, come close and ordered these in a 13...

All in all I am ecstatic I FINALLY have a pair of heels that are mine. This desire has been 3 years in supression and it just feels amazing to finally have a pair. Even though they are patent and so slightly small for my feet, I am loving wearing them around the house. Here are some pics...

I know, I know some may be thinking that I shouldnt have taken them if they arent what I really wanted....but! The comfort factor of buying from this store, trying them on in store and being able to look through catalogs with the sales people AND not feel like Im being judge is worth the slight sacrifice of not having the exact heel I want.

That being said, if the Flair doesn't come in as I want, I will not be taking it as my unbridaled desire to finally have a pair of heels in my grasp is satisfied.

So looking forward to my next pair already!!

  6. I was just going to post about that.....considering there is no leeway in the sizing, if I am a 11.5/12 in men's, where should I be starting at with this heel? 13? Or does it all matter on the make or the shoe [different styles, different makers, different sizing?] Maybe I can talk the owner into order a few sizes, half size apart.

  7. I was in a starbucks and this attractive older, mid 40s, woman was putting sugar in her drink as I walked up to do the same. She had a sweet smile, the kind that was just genuine. I looked down and she had open toed heels and a beautiful french ped. After looking down, she saw me looking and smirked ever so slightly....I stirred my coffee, and it just came out ...I told her how great her toes looked and loved her taste in heels as I was sort of walking away [i guess using it as an escape route since I was nervous]. She was absolutely floored. I think I stunned her and she just stopped in her tracks, smiled ear to ear and said "thank you SO much...thank you".

It was the only time I ever said anything and it was b/c she seemed so approachable. I would imagine that most women [or men] in heels have to know that other's are looking and most would take the compliment in stride, but in today's world, one might come off like some sort of creep to some.

No inhibitions? I'd ask her to go shopping to get US some heels, maybe go for a ped with her after. :winkiss:

  8. Thanks all for the replies. I most likely will go with the first choice now that I see they come in red. For some reason, when I first saw them, I loved the style/curve to them but didn't see they were in patent red....so i looked further and saw the second set. We'll see if the store can order them for me in my size. FXHH, you're right. I will be wearing them mainly at home, in my house and getting used to them so that is why I went so high for my first pair. To me, part of the appeal to heals is the angle of height and arch of the foot. I don't think that will carry over well to a size 12/13 and only a 4in heel. I may break my neck, but I will love every min of it!

  9. That's ok.....I can handle the giggles, as long as they do a good job!

Although I think I will just go with a traditional ped, not red/white. Still need to find a place and find time to get there!

Im already trying to decide on another pair...need some input.

    or

    http://www.snaz75.com/el-ph423-rose.html

I'd be going for the red in either style....part of me wants a closed toe heel since the ones I orderd are full open, but I do love the peep toe. Not sure if the bow tie is a bit much though....

    Any feedback?

  10. Hope you all enjoy as much as i do daily:w00t2:

she thinks shes getting old and ugly but as you guys can see i do not agree:clap:

Well, if she TRUELY believes that, she either has some sort of esteem/dismorphia issue or is fishing for compliments.

So, here is to appease the latter. She's really cute and has nice taste in heels.

  11. Shaved my legs for the first time a few months ago....EVERYTHING feels different; from wearing jeans, to just laying in bed to a brisk breeze hitting them. I guess women are so used to it, but for someone that had hair for 30years....what a world of difference.

  12. I called today to check on the order and unfortunately they will not be in until Tuesday. :winkiss: As per your suggestion Jwhite, before I hung up, I made sure that they woman that helped me would be there the day they came in....she confirmed that she works every day and does seem to be the store owner. It's actually ok, I have this incredible urge to get a pedicure prior to picking them up. Want to try them in the store with a nice french ped....may even go red/white as someone suggested in another thread. Now....to find a place where I feel comfortable getting that done! Daniel, I actually plan on ordering a pair of pumps when I go get my heels. Unfortunately, I really desire a 5in heel. I am never one to ease into things!

  13. They won't, they'll drag by. I can guarantee it! lol

Tick tock, tick tock....only ~110 hours until I pick them up. But who's counting? HAH.

I just hope the same lady is working! It's a small store, so I assume she was the owner and will be there again, but to be honest, I am so excited over the entire process, it's not going to matter who is there when I pick them up.

  14. Thank you all for your encouragement and replies. Dr. Shoe, I was really on the fence about going with this style/height for my first time, however, after looking at some others, I just went with my gut. I do expect to have issues, however, I will just try to take it slow and if need be, maybe I will buy another, smaller pair if they don't work out....maybe I'll do that anyway! :winkiss: jwhite, yes, those are the same style/brand but the ones I bought are not patent leather, but just....regular leather I guess. I like the duller leather look opposed to the shiney. She said they will be in the store in 5 days, so I told her I will just call and drive back. The store was empty as it just opened, but as I was paying, the guy that called as I entered was there to pick up his heels and a girl was behind me. I wonder if he tried them on in the store. I definitely plan on trying them on in the store. They have a little changing room as well as the 'back' area but if it's just her and I, I think I will just try them on in the open. I will be reporting back at the end of next week with my follow up....I can't get it off my mind though! These days better fly on by! heh.

  15. Well, almost.

I was travelling through my old town last week and saw that a new lingerie store opened up. So today, I up and went over just to buy a pair of thigh highs that, for some reason, I have been having the urge to wear. I go in, nose around, and woman comes out to to ask if I need help. The store was really small and I said I was looking for thigh highs, she helped and 5min later, I had 2 pair picked out.

I noticed the heels on the wall and fought the butterflies in my stomach and said "this is a bit embarrassing, but what is the largest size heel you carry". She doesn't seem phased and says, a 9. I tell her that I am a 12 in mens and she says she can easily order them, hands me a catalog to look through. As I am looking, I ask "so am I the first guy to come in for a pair of heels for himself" and she sort of just chuckles and says "no way, in fact that guy on the phone is on his way for his". I couldn't believe it!

So for judging my size purposes, she goes and gets the 9....gives me one of them and tells me to try them on. I ask if I can in the back and she scoffs, pulls up a little bench and says "try them on right here.". Even though the heels didn't even come close to fitting, what an exhilerating rush! Not only couldn't I believe I was finally getting a pair after fantasizing about it for over 2 years but to be trying on a pair in the middle of a store where anyone could have walked in at any moment......what a rush!

I thanked her for being so understanding and she just smirked and said "not a problem at all"...then we started to look in the catalog together and I was asking about height, strap or no strap, she was showing me heels on her wall in comparison to the ones in the catalog and i finally decided on a pair.

However, the ones I ordered aren't patent leather.

So in 5 days, I shall finally own my first pair of heels. I definitely know I went too high for my first pair, but I just love the 6" platform look so much and figure, my feet will get used to them if I just break them in slowly.

    :winkiss:

To all the guys that are really nervous about going out and trying on a pair, don't be! I know I was really 'scared' to venture out since I had this fantasy of wearing a pair, like I said, for over 2 years. Go out and get your pair! I can't wait to go there and try them on in the store next week.

  16. Out of curiosity, what were your first pair of heel that you really started to wear often? I have yet to buy a pair, but it is a fantasy of mine. I like the 6in platform type of 5in, no platform and just wondering, if those heights are way too high to start off in. I know everyone's foot is different and so is the make of the heel, just wondering what everyone started off with and what the general consensus is.
