  1. I thought I had posted in here before, but I always try on shoes before buying them.  At first it was very intimidating, then it became a lot easier.  I have found the longer I go in between shopping trips the more difficult it is to try them on.  Like most on here, DSW is one of my favorite places to shop.  I have not really had the nerve to ask a sales lady/man for a shoe in my size and sit down and try it on...although I am getting there.

I would like to tell you all about my experience this evening.  I am out of town and was headed to the mall to pick up a free pair of panties from VS (got a coupon in the mail).  When I got to the mall I spotted a Fredrick's of Hollywood.  It has been years since I have been in one as we do not have any where I live.  I immediately new I was going in to shop.  I browse through the front of the shop, but was really only looking for two things...hosiery and heels (hence my name...).  I saw a few shoes on a rack in the middle of the store and to my surprise they had a couple of 10's and 11's on the shelf.  I tried them on, not really all that impressed, but then I spot the clearance rack in the back next to the cash register where the two sales girls are working.  So I wonder back that way and see that they have shoes starting at $14.99.  Then I spot them, a pair of black thigh high boots.  They are the kind with the stretchy material up the legs.  I pick them up and realize that they are a size 11.  I decided to slip on the one that they had on the shelf, btw the sales girls were basically right beside me.  The one feels decent and I start looking around for a mirror.  Well the only mirror that they have it back in the dressing room area.  So I walk around the counter and into the dressing room area with one thigh high boot on and one flip flop on (had pantyhose with shorts on).  It looked awesome and still felt good so I asked the lady if I could try the other one.  She went to the back and brought it out and handed it to me, and went back to what she was doing.

So I put the other shoe on and walk around the store a little bit and looked in the mirror, but my shorts that I had on were too long and I couldn't really see what they really looked like.  All I had on under my shorts was a pair of pantyhose, so I didn't want to pull my shorts off without going into one of the actual dressing rooms, but they were locked.  So I asked the other girl if she could unlock one for me and she did.  They let me be for a bit, I went back out into the store with them on and they asked if they were the right size and I said that they felt a little big and asked if they had a 10, but they didn't, these were last pair.  She recommended wearing socks with them, which I am opposed to wearing socks with heels, but since they wouldn't be seen found it a possibility.  I couldn't decide so I asked them to hold them for an hour or so.

I went to VS and got my free panties, the stopped in Charlotte Russ and Forever 21before heading back to FOH to get the shoes.  I figured how can you go wrong for $14.99.  While she was ringing me up I asked if they had many men buying heels, and she actually said "Yes, there were quite a few men, some regulars, that come in and buy heels".  I seriously considered putting them on to walk out of the mall in, but honestly, what I was wearing was not appropriate for those shoes.  So not only would I have been a man walking through the mall in thigh high boots, but a man in thigh high boots that has no fashion sense at all...

So that is my shoe shopping store for the day.  After that I went to Hooter's and watched the end of a disappointing baseball game...had a nice conversation with the waitress about pantyhose while I was there, but that's a different forum.

  2. I stopped into another Kohls today, finally found the pair of hose I had been looking for. I didn't snap a pic this time, but had basically the same thing on, only this time had my tan pants on instead of the black. The store wasn't very busy, but I know for a fact one of the older ladies that work there saw my shoes, but it didn't even seem to phase her. She was stocking a table that was in the aisle, as I walked by she looked directly at my feet then up to my face and smiled, but didn't look surprised or say anything other than she may have said "Hi". While in the store I tried on a few other pair of boots. Found a pair of knee high JLo boots that were very cute, but not really in the buying mood now since I just got the others a couple of days ago, but it is always fun to try them on. When I got to the register with my pantyhose, the cashier asked me if I found everything ok, and I said yes, then she looked at what I was buying and said "well you hope so anyway". It took me a few seconds to work out what she meant, she was implying that I was buying them for a woman, and that I hoped I was getting the correct brand/size/color etc... If I had been quicker at figuring out what she meant, I would have told her that they were for me, so yes I did find what I needed, but I wasn't quick enough and the moment had passed before I could say anything. Oh well... Made a stop at a gas station on the way home, filled up with gas and went in to pee with my new boots on, no one said boo, then again don't think anyone saw accept the to "Amish" girls that were in the minivan behind me getting gas. I say "Amish" because I didn't think the Amish were supposed to be driving.?.

  3. Well as I was driving through Council Bluffs, IA last week, I noticed a Dillards Clearance Center at the old mall there. We used to have a couple in KC and they usually had a nice selection of shoes and usually fairly cheap. I didn't have time last week to stop, but I did today. I was pleasantly surprised with the selection that they had.

I was looking for either a pair of boots, or a nice pair of close toed pumps. I don't have either, and I really feel more comfortable wearing something like that in public as opposed to the two pair of shoes that I have (one pair of strapy sandals and one pair of open toe sling backs). Unfortunately, the selection on those to items was fairly limited, but they had a couple of pair of boots that were nice (one of which I purchased :)).

I tried on several pair of shoes including some Gianni Bini, Betsy Johnson, Sam Edelman, Vince Camuto, Chinese Laundry, BCBG, and a few more I can't remember. I have posted some pics in my flickr account (http://www.flickr.co...s/46585314@N07/) if you want to see a few of them. Most of them are either sandals or open toes, again, not what I was looking for, although some very sexy shoes none the less. There was a particular pair of Sam Edelman's that I really liked (see the first photo). They were/are extremely sexy shoes! The back/black part had spiked jewels coming off of it, and the heel was a gold metal spike...VERY HOT! They were originally $175, and I could have got them for $48, but again, not really what I was there for.

I ended up buying a pair of Vince Camuto boots (see second photo) for $31 (originally $139). I was very close to wearing them out of the store, but, I didn't get a bag, and I didn't want someone thinking I was trying to steal them so I waited to get to the car. I wore them for the next couple of hours on my drive home.

During the drive I decided that I would stop at a Kohls store and get another pair of pantyhose. I use the $10 gift cards that they send in the mail to stock my pantyhose supply. I didn't have a lot of time, I was expected home at a certain time, so I just pulled into the parking lot, hopped out of the car with my boots on and went in. Don't think anyone noticed when I was on my way in. Went to the hosiery section, they ended up not having the pair that I wanted. I looked in the drawers below the hosiery display to see if they had any back stock of the hose I was looking for, but they didn't. So I snapped a quick pic (see third pic) in the mirror and walked out.

On the way to the car there were two young girls (early 20's maybe) that were walking in. I caught the eye of one of them and she gave me a knowing look and a big cheesy grin but didn't say anything. I continued to my car and didn't look back until I rounded my car and was getting to the door then I looked up and it appeared that they may have been having a laugh at my expense, but neither of them looked at me. Either way it didn't bother me. I believe it was JeffB (and possibly others) that have wrote on here, to expect reactions, good and bad. Either way they will come. If you are not comfortable dealing with the reactions then you shouldn't be wearing heels in public. However, if you can learn to deal with all different kinds of reactions, then there is no reason why you shouldn't feel comfortable wearing heels in public. People will say what they will say. Am I a different or bad person because two girls had a chuckle at my choice of shoes....no. I am sure there are things that they do that I would chuckle at too...

  4. Nice looking toes in those sandals! It gives me ideas. What colour of polish are you using? It looks like its purple. Hard to tell because I'm viewing it from a crappy blackberry.

It is OPI's Unfor-Greta-Bly Blue...I do love the color. It may be ever so slightly darker than I want, but still love it!

  5. is it still sandal weather in Kansas? A nice pair of high-heeled boots would be a great to wear with winter approaching. The shoes in your avatar are really nice too, maybe you could wear them when you go shopping for your boots.

Sandal weather in Kansas (technically I was in Iowa at the time, but that doesn't really change the question)? Not really, but I am still wearing flip flops, my wife thinks I'm a little crazy though. The reason I choose the sandals over the ones in my avatar was because I wanted to show off my painted toes to the ladies in the Coach store. I thought that the combo of the shoes and toes might provoke a reaction or comment from them. It was not my intention to hide. If I was going to do it, I wanted them to notice it and comment/ask, but I was only left disappointed as no comments were made.

I would like to get some boots, I think that they would have gone better with the outfit and the time of year, but I had to go with what I had on hand. I did find the boots in the below picture (Nine West) at DSW last year for only $27. I wanted them, and regret not buying them, but was concerned about how to keep them hidden from my wife. Only so much room in my little black bag for shoes, but man I wish I had them now!

I will note that I have worn pantyhose with shorts in public several times and wear flip flops with painted toes in public now, and I frequently go to shoe stores and try on heels (again see the pic below), so this wasn't a huge stretch from were I have been, but still something I have wanted to do for some time. There are several men that paint toe nails, so while different, not so far out there. Hose can be brushed off as support hose for medical purposes. However, heels, that's just a different story...

  6. hoseheels, Keep shopping and getting out there with your wife and keep sharing your stories, that's what we're here for. HappyinHeels

As much as I would love to do this, it will not happen. My wife is not supportive my love of hose or heels. She tolerates painted toes and trimmed leg hair, even that is pushing her limits. Maybe some day way down the road, but not likely.

BTW, thanks for all of the support guys...

  7. Well after reading all of the outings that everyone on here has had with little to no issues, I decided to give it a go tonight. While out of town for work, I drove by some outlet stores and my wife wanted me to stop and look through the Coach store to see if there was anything that she wanted. I decided what the heck, put on my strappy sandals (not really sure how high, minimum 4") and went shopping at the Coach store. Note: I would have worn and probably been more comfortable in boots, but don't currently own any, just the ones in my avatar and the ones in the picture below. Walked around the store for 10 mins or so, went to the car to email my wife pics of what they had and went back in for another 10 minutes or so. I know I got a few looks, and I think that there were some comments that I couldn't hear, but that may have just been me being paranoid. No on said anything to me. I tried not to hide to much, you know the standing behind a table or shelving rack so most of the people in the store couldn't see. No I tried to just act exactly the same as I would have if I had been in there in my work dress shoes. I chatted with the staff several times and again, no comments. After the Coach store, I stopped into the UnderArmor store and the Nike store for a brief minute. Don't know that anyone at either of those store noticed. There are so many racks at those stores it is hard to notice people's shoes. I will definitely be doing this again, I hope to get a pair of boots that I can wear instead of the sandals, would just feel a little more comfortable in boots as opposed to the sandals. The first four of the ones I took of me while in the stores the fifth picture is of the shoes that I was wearing. The last one is a pic of my toe color after my pedi with the wife yesterday.

  8. Hello all, Sorry for the delay in responding, I didn't realize I needed to until just now. Well I am in my late 30's, married for 19 years, with two daughters, one teenager, one preteen. We live in the KC metro area. I consider myself a partial crossdresser, although I am not even sure that is right, but then again they are all just labels. For me it started with hosiery. I don't remember what age, but I don't really remember anytime in my life that I wasn't attracted to hosiery or feminine things. I wore my sisters stuff at an early age and it has just never left. I have tried to give it up, desperately wanted to give it up, but like most if not all of you, I always come back to it. I don't "dress" all the way and never really have had the chance to do so. Would I, yes, but I don't think it will ever be something I strive for. For me, it is mainly from the waist down hose, heels, skirts...that kind of stuff. Like I said it started with hosiery, although I wore heels very early on too. In the last 5-10 years my love for heels has grown and now is as strong as my desire to wear hoseiry. I have worn stilleto heels in public a few times, but it was just at a rest area on the interstate, and I wouldn't stop if there were too many people there. I did were them into a truck stop once to use the restroom, but no comments, not sure anyone noticed. My wife knows of my thing for hose and does not approve. She does not know of my passion for heels though. Over the past couple of years she has become ever so slightly more accepting of my feminine tendencies. I trim (not shaved) the hair on my legs and keep them short, want to shave, she just hasn't got there yet. While she doesn't want me to shave my legs, she does tolerate me painting my toe nails, that really doesn't make sense to me, but oh well... Anyway that is me in a very small nutshell.... If you are interested, I have pictures posted on Flickr just follow the like below.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/46585314@N07/

  9. Hi Guys, new to the group here but thought I would throw in my 2 cents. I do not often wear heels in public. I have a few times, like going into a truck stop to use the rest room or using the rest stops on the interstate, and other times like that, so I can't speak directly to that. I have however worn pantyhose and shorts often in public which I would consider very similar. While I love both hose and heels (thus my handle), my doubt comes into play when it involves kids. I don't care who sees me or what they have to say, but when a kid sees me I feel a little guilty. Did me wearing hose in front of him cause him/her to consider ask their parents about things that they shouldn't have to deal with at that age? It's hard enough growing up in this world, let alone having to figure out why some dude is running around in pantyhose (or heels).
