  1. They are very nice at Payless. I went to one store and asked about a black patent wedge I had seen on the internet . They looked around and didn't have my size, 11. She went to the computer and found it at another Payless not far away. She put a hold on it and gave me a coupon for $5 off, they were on clearance for $14.99, they dropped the price $5 because they were holding it for me. I went to the other store and bought them for $5 plus tax!! They lady at the other store said she wanted me to be her customer from now on. She told me they were having a sale on handbags and cosmetics and told me I ought to look around. I was only interested in heels. I left and she told me she hoped to see me soon. A great experience all around.

  2. I am getting out in public with heels quite a bit more and it has been quite invigorating. Yesterday I went to DSW with my black high heel sandals and metallic blue painted toes. Tried on many shoes without embarassment. Bought this very comfortable sexy, two tone pair of Guess sandals. Wore them today to Total Wine and felt great and didn't get a single stare. http://www.dsw.com/shoe/g+by+guess+habenara+sandal?prodId=240786&productRef=SEARCH I have a picture of myself wearing them , but I don't know how to paste them here on my iPad, any help would be appreciated.

  3. I've gone out in heels quite a bit in the past week as I've finally gotten my courage. I went to a large shopping mall in my 4" black platform sandals with shiny metallic pink toenails today and had a great experience. I went to the Lucky Brand store and shopped for blue jeans and the saleslady helping me didn't bat an eyelash about my heels/toes. She even commented on my shoes, "those jeans fit well with those shoes". The other saleslady was also friendly giving me a nice smile the first time she saw my feet and also helped with sizing. Bought two pair of jeans. I knew there was a Bakers at the mall. I walked there, went in and the young saleslady saw me looking at a pair of shoes, my avatar. Asked for size eleven, she said they didn't have that size but she could order it. I pointed to another pair, she said no 11's in the store. She then told me if I want, she will bring all the elevens in stock for me to try on. I said sure. It was fun trying them all on, she helped me with how they looked and was very pleasant. I found a pair I liked and asked the price, it was slightly more than I was expecting, she said she could hold them, I said yes. I don't have a long history of wearing heels but I had no bad comments or looks today and the women I spoke to today were more than tolerant. I don't think it would have been so easy to go out in heels 20 years ago.

  4. Okay, these are the last ones for a bit (need to part with some older stuff, now):

From DSW's clearance rack: G by Guess Verna Color Block pump in size 11.

It took me a few minutes to warm up to these. Very comfortable despite the heel height. Round toe permits your toes to move somewhat freely.

Nice shoes, tried on the same size myself last week at DSW. Seemed a little tight, do they loosen up?

  5. I have recently been bolder in public with heels, buying heels with heels on, pumping gas with heels on, and yesterday buying a sandwich with heels on. In the sandwich shop, Cappriotti's, three women were sitting by the register waiting for their sandwiches and out of the corner of my eye I saw one of them notice my black high heel sandals under my blue jeans and my shimmering pink toenails. I could see her gesturing to her friends "look". They didn't say anything and I preceded on my merry way. I must admit it was a bit of a rush! Before that on my lunch hour I finished my third heel shopping experience wearing heels. It was much less stressful than prior journeys. I walked in to DSW wearing 5" black peep-toe platform pumps and the store was moderately busy. I went straight to the wedge sandals and fairly calmly tried on a pair, comfortable but no wow. I then moved to another aisle to look at another pair right beside a saleswoman and a female, they didn't seem to notice. Next to the discount rack and tried on several pairs until I found a 4" black Anne Klein Sport wedge sandal that was very comfortable and sexy. I grabbed them and walked to the pump section whereupon a saleswoman passed by and asked if I need any help. I said thanks but no thanks. I tried on a few more pairs sometimes with female customers close by. I was browsing another aisle and a saleswoman asked if I was ready to check out and I said yes. She accompanied me to the register and processed the transaction. She told me she can't walk very well in heels and doesn't wear them. I told her this pair feels very comfortable. She wished me a good day. I felt great and emboldened. Walked to the car passing a male landscaper, I am sure he saw me but I just ignored him. Next stop, Sephora for toenail polish in new wedges-help there was nice. No funny looks etc. Next stop Total Wine, I felt great walking in those heels. I don't think anyone noticed! It was a great day, can't wait til next time!!

  7. do you feel bad for wearing what you want or do you wear what you want outside without a care in the world, even if women try and put you down for being yourself,

I don't feel bad but I've been afraid until recently to openly wear heels. It was just pumping gas until I made the big move and wore 5" heels to DSW to shop for heels. No bad comments or looks, a couple of ladies smiled! It was liberating, unfortunately my wife doesn't approve, so I'll have to do it on the QT. :mecry:

  8. I have been wearing heels in private for years, secretly away from my wife. Was discovered and she wasn't pleased. Now I only do it secretly in my car. I have recently worn them in public pumping gas. After joining this site I have just gotten the courage to wear them shopping at DSW today!! They were a pair of black platform peep toe pumps from MODA Spana with 4" heels. I was a bit nervous but I thought what do I care what other people think, this is what makes me feel good and it is what I want to do. I walked calmly to the door where two ladies were just leaving and I think they noticed but they just smiled. I walked through the store to the back clearance rack and relatively calmly tried on some shoes. They didn't have anything I had to have, so I left. I'm not sure if anyone noticed me in the store but I don't think I would have cared. It was quite a rush! My heart was pumping. I almost went into ULTA with them on to get some nail polish but chickened out and wore flip flops with my painted toe nails instead. I can't wait to shop at DSW again! It should be easier next time.
