  1. It has been a fantastic week. .....the whole thing in heels. Wednesday, we took a day trip to a museum 3 hours away from where we are staying. I wore the France Sarto Nolan loafers with a 3.25" heel, with about half the heel exposed below my jeans as I walked, for the drive which included stops for gas and another stop at a McDonalds for a snack. Both times I went into the store with people around. Since this is the first time I attempted heels over 2" in public, this was a real rush. Once we got to the museum, I changed into the Nine West Foxleigh boots with a 3.5" heel, again with about half of the heel exposed when I walked. I stayed in those for the next 6 hours which included sitting in a lecture hall, sitting in a cafe (both of which exposed my boots all the up past my ankle), meeting the CEO of the museum and his staff, and having a behind the scenes personal tour. Needless to say, I was a little nervous, but soon forgot what I was wearing. It certainly was a fun day. (Please see my first entry for pictures.) I am certainly looking forward to the next outing. Happy heeling to all :chuckle:

  2. After reading and commenting on various threads over the last one and a half years, I finally decided to start my own journal of public heeling. This is a significant event. I was packing for a week long get-a-way. I was really taking a lot of time trying to decide which shoes to take with me. Since the family (all 4 of us) had to get a weeks worth of stuff in the trunk of the car. I had to limit the number of shoes to four pair. As I continued to make a selection of "safe" block-heeled shoes and struggled to get the number down to four pair, my wife said "Why don't you just be bold and take the ones you are self-conscious about wearing so you can see that it is not such a big deal." Talk about an opportunity! I picked two pair that I have never worn out and two pair that I have only worn one time each and it was dark when I did. What made it really daring is that I brought only those shoes with no escape pair if I chicken out. So far it has been three days and I am having a great time. I spent two hours on a train, stopped at gas stations, grocery stores, convenient stores, and hotel lobby. In two days we will be spending a whole day in a museum. Attached are pictures of the four pair; the lowest heel is 2.75" and the highest is 3.25".

  3. Re: Friday - I had a few errands to run and decided that I should look nice while doing them. I wore a raspberry dress shirt, gray Lane Bryant trousers with wide legs and a nice cuff, black patterned trouser socks, and black Nine West "Appleaday" with a very small stiletto heel. I hit the post office, paid a couple of bills and went for an early lunch. Since my outfit was fairly conservative, I really didn't draw much attention except for one man who stared at me for a long time, which I am hoping was because of my shoes because otherwise he was really creeping me out. The one interesting thing about these shoes is that I slipped off the heel several times on tile floors, which never happens when I wear a higher heel. I just thought that was fascinating.

Actually, I am going to have a different opinion than most of your responses. I loved your "Friday" outfit. That is how I like to dress when I go out. It looks sharp. I also love the loafer style pumps. I have at least a dozen pairs of that style of shoe....but mine are all with a chunkier heel. I also love to read about your adventures. If you have more of the loafer style pumps, please post those pictures as well.:)

  4. NH Heels, if the NW manager out your way is half as understanding and helpful as the one in Wisconsin Dells, You could walk in in any style and heel height, and she would treat you just the same as she would treat your wife wanting to buy heels. I felt very comfortable wearing my 3.5" boots while shopping. I went to the store once by myself and once with my wife. The experience was great. I am looking forward to trying it again some time.:winkiss:

  5. Well, I made it back to the NW Outlet. The manager had made a number of calls for me trying to locate the shoes on my wish list. She was amazing and also made compliments on the shoes that I did try on. I (with my wife's approval) settled on a low heeled loafer (left field) for every day use and a 2.5 inch slightly chunky heeled loafer pump (twiskie) for "going out" occasions. I really wanted the 4 inch heeled pump called Jennett (picture attached). However, my wife nixed that one even though the store manager said I needed a fun shoe and the Jennett looked good on me. :winkiss:

  6. I just came back from a Nine West Outlet store in Wisconsin Dells. (I am on vacation there.) The store manager was extremely accomodating and brought me all the size 12 shoes she had. I tried them on and am considering one of them. She also offered to check any other NW Outlet store for styles that I liked to see if they have them. I gave her a list and will go back to the store in a couple of days to see what she was able to find. She said she would have them shipped to my house for free, too. She remembered me from last year when I was here. Also, she said that I was not the only guy who shops there for shoes. I can't wait to see what she is able find out.

  7. I just came home from a "dress up" symphony Christmas concert with my wife. I wore a black sport coat, red turtle neck shirt, and gray herringbone slacks. I gave my wife a choice of 5 different pair of shoes to choose from for me to wear: 2.5" chunk heel penny loafers, 2" wedge heel loafer, 3" chunk heel ankle boot, 2" slightly tapered heel red pump, and the shoe that my wife and teenage daughter picked in the attached picture. It had a 2.75" tapered heel with the smallest "heel" footprint of all of the choices. I was certainly pleasantly surprised and excited to get this opportunity to heel in public. At the concert I saw and spoke to 3 people that I knew. I also had to walk up a flight of stairs, which gives the person behind you a full view of your heels. No one stared at, or commented on my shoes. It made for a fun evening to enjoy the concert, a night out with my wife, and being able to wear fun shoes.

  8. I ordered a pair of the ankle version of the Rocha's from Zappos. I loved the look of the boot, but was very sad to return them because the Rocha's run almost a full size small. My toes were pushing against the end of the shoe and I really do not want to develop hammertoes for the sake of wearing a particular style shoe/boot. The largest size they come in is a 12 and that is what I wear.

  9. I recently bought some new 'penny' loafers from Nine West with a 3" heel. I love Nine West shoes. They are well made and very comfortable. I also have a pair of boots from Nine West with a 3" heel (my avatar). I decided to try wearing the loafers with different outfits to show that this style will go with casual as well as dress up situations. I plan on wearing these when I take my wife to a "dress up" concert later this month. Attached are pictures of the shoes, with hose, with jeans, and with dress slacks.

  10. About two years ago I switched to womens shoes about 95% of the time. The last two business trips I went on I took only womens shoes. That includes the airport. I was wearing a pair of 2.25" block heel light brown loafers (Naturalizer Mae (picture attached) -- one of my favorite shoes -- hence my screen name). I wasn't able to skate through TSA because I had a last minute airline change. I went through the whole pat down. The TSA guy saw my loafers and looked at me; no comment; no smile; nothing. Through this experience I concluded that those TSA people have seen it all; even more "bizarre" that a guy in heels.

  11. I have had a great experience at Nine West store (in the Wisconsin Dells outlet mall while on vacation) trying on shoes. The clerk says they keep a list at the register of all of the size 12 shoes in the store. She even took me around the store and showed me the size 12 shoes she had in stock. I tried on 2 pair, but did not like the fit/look of the 2 I tried on. Last year, I bought (online) the pair of boots in my avatar. They have a 3" heel and are extremely comfortable. Unfortunately, they are last years model and I have not seen them this year.

  12. I just came in from spending the evening outside in the yard in cuffed khaki capri pants with 1.5 inch wedge sandals. It was a really neat feeling and made me wonder if I'd dare wander out in public in cuffed capris. Last year I wore a pair of jeans capris with women's low heeled thong sandals out to a soccer game, but because I was very self conscious, I rolled up the pant legs up to just below the knee. Noone commented or even stared. Have any of you tried capris with womens' shoes out in public?

  13. I have about 6 pairs of boots ranging from ankle high to calf high (my wife does not like me in knee high boots). The heels range from 2" to 3.5". I love the look of boot-cut (flared) jeans over the boots. I makes me feel more confident and therefore makes me more willing to wear them out in public.

  14. Iggy_ze, I really love the first pair. What brand are they? Where did you find them? How tall of a heel do they have? As far as wearing them to work, I have a suggestion if you have never worn womens shoes to work. First, find a pair of womens loafers around 1.5" to 2" and wear them first. I have been doing that for nearly 2 years now. At first, I was very self-consious about wearing them and thought everyone would notice and laugh at me. I have only heard 1 comment during the entire time which was "Man, do you have a lot of shoes." That is because I wear about 10 different pairs to work, 8 of which are various styles of womens loafers with a heel height of 1.5" to 1.75". I have slowly introduced a pair with 2 inche heels. One woman asked me last week if I was wearing boots. I turned my foot sideways and lifted my pant leg a little so she could see the profile and said "just slip-ons". Nothing more was said. Moving slowly has worked for me. If you are fearful about your image at work, this method may work for you.
